2 Fast 2 Furious had my Razzie vote for “Poorest Excuse For An Actual Movie” in 2003. (That’s a real category folks, click here) And now this. I’m very curious what on earth they’re going to call this, I mean, since their use of the number 2 in the last title was so clever, of course. I suggest ‘The Fast and the Furious: Kill Yourself’ or maybe ‘2 Fast 2 Furious Too’ or ‘So Lame my Ass Hurts’ or ‘I Have Lights Under my Car and I’m a Date Rapist.’. I don’t know, they can use those titles if they want.
So Vin Diesel is currently tugging on the bait line for being in this one. Which is the only hope for getting the dullards who haven’t figured out they’ve been shown the same movie twice already, in the door for a third one. 2005 Razzie Noms start today in my book.
If theres a 3rd movie, i’m sure i’m going to watch it like milions of people in the world. 9 in every 10 man loves cars and i’m sure 8 of them are going to watch this movie and at leat 6 are going to pay the ticket to see it.

It seems I have stumbled on this post a long time after the movies have been released, but it needs a further comment. First, this movie is not one you are going to walk away with some interesting insight and find a new meaning in life. It is simply a way to detach your brain and forget about life. Whether the director is good or not is not my call. I don’t have the time or energy to know about each director, nor do I really care to.
About the vehicles that are in the films. I would be PISSED if I were Mitsubishi!! To have the floor boards of the vehicle fall off when the vehicle was going less then 100 mph is horrible. As an ex street racer I laughed at every Eclipse that came near us after the movie, wondering if the floor boards really would fall off…..
Next, the thought that anyone in a little foreign car would square up against a 900 HP blown muscle car with a japanese car is hysterical. When we raced there were the racers and the talkers. We all know who the racers are and the talkers were hard to miss. All the stickers, wings, fins and HUGE exaust pipes that went from a 1 inch pipe to a 8 inch tip…. hysterical!
Lastly….. I liked the movie for what it was inteded. Disconnect my brain and fill my face with popcorn! The flame throwers on the cars, the shopping cart looking wings on the cars and all of the rest was for the current groups of younger kids that like that crap. If there is a next episode I would hope they would be a bit more realistic, but then again that would sell as many tickets!

Hey guys, I’m an S2000 2004 model owner and I have to tell you that they are wickedly fast without mods. I’ve burned a few of our local “racers”…although obviously I don’t speed. Ahem.
However, I’ve seen videos of street races of an S2k against various other cars, and the S2k has been modded, and they are even faster. It is surprising. As most are saying it depends what’s been done on either side.
Still, the underlying issue is, it’s only a movie. Yet they’ve chosen to place this movie in a very technical and knowledgeable world where, for the participants, it is about technicals and speed. So it’s only right that it should come under such close scrutiny.
For those not involved in the world, they just like or hate the movie for what it is and not too concerned with the reality.
So live with the two different viewpoints, there’s no point someone like me (a non street racer) trying to argue with a street racer. They know the facts more than me so they will critique the film from a technical angle and I’ll just look to see if my car is in it and the movie entertains.
My S2k is stunning though. ;) Oh, and it’s not pink!

well your wrong, an looks like you dont know that much after all. well to begin with it is just a movie, they have to let them keep up, and an S2000 could keep up wiht a skyline, depends on what sort of modifications are done to both. If you were so worried about match ups you should have seen the main race in the first one, a eclipse, civic, integra and RX-7. the eclipse and rx-7 have a huge advantage, and the civic guy would not stand a chanse and he was too buisy playing grand turismo to really care tho.
They are not movies that are meant to be full of all those stupid technical crap like you are taught in school when you have to analyse a movie. It shows the people that would watch the movei what they want to see. great cars, babes and some action. And it does that well.

Opinions vary. There are people that like certain variations. You have your action/ adventure movies that targets a certain group. Same with sci-fi, horror, romance drama, etc. In my opinion, the fast and furious movies were somewhat ok. What I believe should have done was put some well known actors in the movie. I mean know one really knew who Vin Diesel was until 2000 when he came out in Pitch Black. Same with Paul Walker who was in She’s that girl and Pleasantville Both movies had no meaning whatsoever. Now 4 years later they are mega stars. Maybe mix up with modern domestic sports cars, European sports cars and more muscle cars as well. Adn add some well know celebrities in the mix as well. The first 2 are all about action, girls, cars. Not the best story plot, but it gives ppl somethin to do during summer with there buddys or girl or boy friends. Its hollywood, everything is more then it needs to be. Its fun and funny to watch.

Not all movies have to be 100% realistic. The producers purposely want to change things and get off reality in some places to actually have suspense and shit, otherwise the movie would look like crap. Also, the media and the fans, I’m sure wanted to see more action from the illegal street racing.
For those of you who don’t like it, it’s probably because you guys know cars too well. I’m not saying it’s a problem, just don’t complain and don’t watch the movie. The movie is suppose to affect the viewers for extreme entertainment, which I believe 2F2F had lots of hype during the movie than the first one. (The beginning was awesome, whether it was realistic or not..) Making a movie is pretty much made around a target audience, but then, there really can’t be a specific target audience because it’s a public movie.
Oh, and you complain also, probably because you want to show off. Just lay back, man. It’s just a movie.

I am into cars, hot chicks, and good movies just as everyone on here. I agree with every post you have made and on the flip side many of the other posts. The movies were deffinately low budget when being filmed, though I enjoyed watching them. I see movie mistakes all the time, but I don’t bitch, piss, and moan about it for months after the fact. After reading most of the posts here I have come up with two REALLY good answers for this whole F&F subject. (1) The movies had mistakes and poor acting, but overall the targeted audiences enjoyed them. (2) After watching you go-off on these movies for as long as you did, I can only see one thing…. You are way to sexually frustrated. Maybe if you devoted more of your time and energy to the types of “Hot Chicks” in the F&F, some of that sexual frustration would end up where it belongs, like drying in a condom or sliding down the back of a girls throat….Instead of drying on your computer screen or dripping off your keyboard. — Dude, get a grip. Its just an F’n movie. Seriously, get a life.

Not all movies are the same and you can’t just judge movies on how the plot/characters develop (thats why you have different genres)… These kind of films are meant to be fun and exciting….(i.e Action) , if you’re not watching it with DTS or Dolby Surround sound then you really arent ‘watching’ it…

The only element that these movie got missing is the reality of how cars can go fast and the lack of FORDS but for the rest they great movies, hope thet make the 3,4,5, and show many great cars. I agree that the plots of both the movies are on the limits of being realistically possible, and there are real bad mechanical errors concerning cars, like a 2JZ-GTE supra TT with an n/a version of the engine in it when they open the hood, a GT-R skyline that is supposed to be 4WD put spins only the rear wheels, without talking about jumping a bridge with a car that is slam to the ground and making it with almost no damage. Anyway, there is still other scenes that are cool and reflects the street racing scene like getting busted by the cops and making a run for it, for the rest I tried to enjoyed it and not focus on the details too much, I’ve enjoyed the first two and will probably enjoyed the 3rd one if they make it. The plots were shit also. just think about the plot in the second one. that shit would never happen. The movie is also very unrealistic. N.O.S (not NAWWZZ) doesnt look anything like that. And the cars are shit, no one in there right mind would fuck there cars up like that (by this i mean the purple eclipse, pink s2000, etc, etc), I took out a loan for my black 93′ turbo porsche. I would much rather see my kind of car in these films without gay colors and with stupid ass ricer stickers and shit.

Everyone yelling that they’re only going to the movie to see cars and girls and anything else completely brainlessly male-dominated only proves to me, from their own mouths that I’ve already seen all three films.
Hey I was just wondering…if so many of you didnt enjoy watching the first movie, why would you even bother watching the second(plz tell me its not just to rag on it)?? And in reference to the comment on the “flames spewing from the exhaust”, there are such things as flame thrower kits that are entirely unrelated to fuel/air mixture. Lastly, there are plenty of ways an s2000 can be modded to keep up with a skyline. Both cars were street cars in the movie and probably rounding the 10 second mark. Granted its not the most realistic movie in the world (ex: nitrous scenes exagerated) but I dont think thats what people are looking for when they go see the movie!

You see, you LIKED the movie, and LIKE those ridiculous looking cars, which you haven’t noticed, the rest of society thinks looks like circus vehicles. I on the other hand, hated the films — I’m not, as you say “jealous”, but rather I actually don’t like them. At all. In fact, I hated them so much I firmly believe people who like them have a fabricated view of what a good movie is.
I never said you can’t like the films – but don’t expect me to agree with you.
And, just to help you try and save money, the studio is going to be feeding you the same movie for the third time…

I think the movie was tight! Even though they didn’t have very good story lines, the fact that they are actually makin the movies for the people that actually like them is awesome. The Fast and the Furios timeline was better than the 2 Fast 2 Furious timeline but neither of them were good. I like the movie because makin a car like one of those is a dream for me and tons of my freinds. I do agree that they weren’t good with the timeline, but the movie is still tight. I can’t wait for the third one to come out. You can’t really say that the third one is gonna be bad because both of the first two had different timelines. Maybe they’ll actually put time into makin the timeline this time. You can’t just guess its going to be bad.

i have to say, though, i agree with your general argument. these movies aren’t necessarily “really good” or “works of art”, just “enjoyable” and “entertaining.” i suppose if someone likes the fast and the furious, they have a right to call the movies “enjoyable” and “entertaining” but not “good.”
also, in my opinion (which, i know, means nothing to people who disagree with it), the fast and the furious is stupid and so is paul walker (i’m just not sure which is more so).

Once again, I reiterate: Sure, it had (inaccurate) fast cars and “hot chicks” — BUT! that doesn’t make the MOVIE any good – Good Eye Candy maybe, but Eye candy is not a film. What’s with this movie and its supporters being unable to distinguish between its focus and its quality?
I like movies with stuff blowing up in them – but that didn’t make Dante’s Peak, Episode 1, Independence Day, Volcano, Daylight, House of the Dead, Needful Things, Battlefield Earth, any recent Star Trek Movie, TripleX or Godzilla any **GOOD**, it just made for a bad movie with the occasional shot of something blowing up.

i thought the second one was OK.
i live in japan, and i see skylines way cooler than the one they showed…all the time. all the cars were pretty crap. the cars in that movie werent so great at all. For about 46,000 i can go down to a place called Onix and buy a 650 hp Skyline, some movie director should be able to afford to even just borrow a better skyline than that.
and if they go put that numbskull vin deisel in the 3rd movie, it’s gonna suck. that guy can’t act… at all. He tries, and i’ll give him credit for that… but he sucks. He ruins every movie he’s in.
Considering that the films are targetted to 14 year old boys I doubt that the huge majority of people who like the films have ever set foot in one of those cars, never mind owning one.

As for inaccuracies, keep in mind this is a Rob Cohen flick you’re talking about. Well, the first one anyway. He’s not known for accuracy. In “The Skulls” – a simply horrid movie, after learning that a large python was waiting for a main character, the character responded with “Would this python be poisonous?”
– Sadly, no one decided to do the simple checking that *NO* pythons are poisonous. I gave up on Rob Cohen flicks at this point.

The problem with the two movies made already was not the cars…as there were actually some pretty sweet ones in the movies.
It was simply the fact that all of technical specs were completely innacurate, so for people like myself, who would have enjoyed the movie based solely on it containing some nice cars, we were tearing our hair out, trying to understand why the writers could not even do 5-10 minutes of actual research before writing the script.
I mean they had an S2000 keeping up with a Skyline in the second one…makes no sense. Both were spewing flames out their talepipes meaning they were running ridiculously rich and not using near the amount of power they could make if tuned properly. How about in the dvd for number 2, where is shows Paul Walker getting his skyline from some country gas station or whatever the hell…yeah, there are plenty of them just lying around…Another thing that drove me crazy about the first one, is that scene where they had broken into the competitions shop full of civics without engines. The asian guy proceeded to go on about getting “A couple of SR-20 motors” for their civics. That is a freaking nissan motor idiots, no one puts that into a civic. So I ask…how is it that they were able to do enough research to know that the SR20DET is a popular motor in the tuner world, yet not notice its for a different car all together…it just does not make any sense.

But seriously, c’mon think clearly for a second. You have to separate your car hobby from the distinction of film quality here.
If you like cars, fine, but that only makes a poor film interesting to watch for you. I liked playing Super Mario Bros 3 when I was in grade school, and sure, that gave the movie “The Wizard” a few really cool parts, but I have to admit that the film was terrible despite my opinions on the focus of the film.
You have, however hit the nail on the head. They took three ingredients (that contain no plot-based ideals) that the producers knew would get swallowed by id-based males and surrounded it with 90 minutes of useless film — TWICE!!
So granted, the argument of “hey that’s what I want to see” is fair enough, but it isn’t fair to call a “movie” great, when you could be getting the same “effect” by surfing the web -FOR FREE!- alone with the door locked. – I mean if you WANT to pay for it twice, be my guest… And never fear, you’re getting the opportunity to do it a third time.
