It Had To Happen – A Superhero Spoof Movie

balle_hero.jpgWith the fruition and multiplication of all the Hero genre films out there (and upcoming) you knew it was only time before someone put up the cash for a Superhero Spoof flick. It even looks like it’ll just be called “Superhero”. The good folks over at Comic Book Movie give us this:

David Zucker, Craig Mazin and Robert Weiss, the producers of Scary Movie 3, plan Superhero, a spoof on several cape and cowl films, including Spider-Man, Fantastic Four and Batman Begins. Mazin will write the script for Zucker to direct for Dimension Films.

This makes me both sad and happy. I think the concept is a good one but I also think every one of the “Scary Movie” films have out sucked black holes. For those of you who may not know much about black holes… trust me… that’s a LOT of sucking mister. Oh well… wait and see I suppose.

  1. I think we’re about to be sick of superhero movies. When there’s a glut of genre it becomes a pyche overload and you end up not caring to see any of them so that means you may miss a realy good one.

  2. There is room for hope. Yes the Scary Movie Franchise sucked (Because they were spoofing a spoof). But Zucker was also responsible for Airplane (1 not 2), Top Secret, Hot Shots and Hot Shot part Deux, Not To mention The Naked Gun Movies (and even Better The Police Squad TV Series). If he could recapture the feel from his earlier fims, this could be great.

  3. Actually Rob, Mystery Men is more a comedy (and a really good one too)… not a spoof. Same could be said for The Specials. A true “spoof” is more along the lines of the Scary Movie, or Airplane, Hot Shots!, Loaded Weapon vein.

Man, come to think of it I haven’t watched Mystery Men in a while… I think I’ll do that later. Thanks for reminding me!!

    Cheers!
