Pictures From Danny Boyle’s Millions

millions1t.jpgDanny Boyle is a strangely compelling director. His good films – Shallow Grave, Trainspotting, 28 Days Later – are simply incredible, and when his films fail – A Life Less Ordinary – they fail in truly spectacular fashion. So when I heard his newest film – Millions – being described as a children’s film it caught my attention. “Boyle” and “children’s film” are just two things I don’t expect to hear in the same sentence. But when you hear the basic plot – two kids find millions of pounds from a bank robbery but have just days to spend it before England converts to the Euro – it all starts to make sense again. Yeah, I’m a fan and this is definitely a film I’m looking foward to seeing so I was pretty happy to see these screen images over on The Hollywood News. If someone over that side of the pond has had the good fortune to see this, drop us a note and let us know what you thought.

And in a somewhat, but not really, connected Danny Boyle rant, why on earth isn’t Hamish Macbeth available on DVD anywhere in the world!?! Come on people! Frequently written and directed by Boyle – who appears on screen as a corpse in one episode – and starring the fantastic Robert Carlyle, Hamish has built a large cult following through constant play on public television throughout North America. Yes, yes, you can’t include the West Side Story episode due to rights issues but that doesn’t mean you can’t give us the rest of the show. Seriously, do it right and this thing would sell itself.

  1. Are you sure Danny Boyle wrote and directed part of Hamish Macbeth? I can’t find it in his filmography and/or credits anywhere, although in IMDB there was another Daniel Boyle listed as writer and occasional actor.

  2. im also in the film as one of the guys in toon army shirts running out of a van and into a newcastle home match crowd .when is this film going on general reliese

  3. i think millions was a really good film, it was funny and had alot of mixed emotions and feelings in it. i went to see it with my media class in skool and thought it was brilliant.

  4. Driving round Manchester dressed as Santa Claus in May was the most fun. Looking forward to seeing myself (and my car) on the big screen very soon. It will give my nephew and niece a laugh anyway! Next film in the Bahamas please Mr Boyle, Manchester was a bit wet and cold!

  8. I have been waiting for millions to come out due to the fact my niece is in some of the scenes. Some of the kids from her school was picked out to star in some of the scenes. She had to wear her winter coat running around in the playground in the blistering heat as the filming was made during the summer months. Lucky for them they had first aid in case any 1 felt ill during the filming.

  9. omfg u hated 28 days later i think this could be one of my top 100 films of all time i mean the zombie run!
Much scarier then any other crawling zombie movie where we could all just jog passed them.
No had to write this luke u r compltely F***ed
I mean what about shallow grave as well no mention come
    on sort it out

  10. THE NEW FILM BY DANNY BOYLE!
    “Millions”
It is a wonderfull film, with the original Danny Boyle touch to it. It has the special effects, colors, and weird moments, that compare it to any of his films.
But Like all his movies this movie, is character based. Great detail to tell the emotions that these boys go through. He porpously leaves the plot simple and understandable, to let us focus on the changes and emotions that the kids experiece throughout the film.
I would recommend the film to all Danny Boyle’s fans and for those of you who haven’t seen his films, This is a winner to start with!

  11. I also loved A Life Less Ordinary. Trainspotting is still his best but Life, in my mind is a close second. I wish the Beach was better. The book is INcredible and the movie depicts a few of the books scenes well and I was actually very impressed with DiCaprio but on the whole it was a big letdown. Hated 28 days later. Hated the DV choice. Hated its unoriginality. Hated the hype. My least favorite Boyle. Also one of my least fave zombie movies ever. Millions sounds okay.

    so…yeah. Thats what i think.

  12. Hey, I’m not saying Life Less Ordinary isn’t entertaining but that is one hugely self indulgent mess of a film, and very nearly incoherent to boot.
