Chris Carter reveals situation of a possible X-Files 2

x-files-mix.jpgWhile we’re on rumour control today, let’s talk about that much talked about movie, X-Files 2. Film Fodder has some titbits from the DVD Empire interview with Chris Carter the man when it comes to the files.

So what’s going on? Is the movie going ahead, and what’s going on, we’re hearing so many stories from different people involved…or not as the case may be.

It’s currently in negotiations, and things are looking positive…There’s not a script, but Frank Spotnitz and I have worked out a story. Actually, we did that quite a while ago.

Revelations abound. Well not really, but at least we know something is happening now. As to what exactly it is and with who, your guess is as good as mine, so if you want to start guessing, please do!

Personally I think they should have left it when they didn’t follow up that first movie with a second one to bring that story forward some more. The original left a lot hanging and made you feel that you really wanted to see where it went, and of course it went nowhere.

  1. While my interest did wane a bit with Seasons 8 and 9 (I felt that the series ended just as Doggett and Reyes were becoming interesting), The X-Files will always be my favorite television show. Sunday nights at 9 have never been quite the same. I would whole-heartedly embrace a second film.

  2. I love the show. It was the best show ever. And it will be the best one. I want to see a second movie, i don´t care if Dogget or Reyes are in it. I want a second one, with Mulder and Scully. I know season 8 and 9 was not real good, but it was ok. I still see the reruns of all the seasons and i love it. Thank FX Network for that. Chris come on, i want to see the xfiles 2!!!!

  3. Chris killed the show with the last couple of seasons and instead of standing up to Fox and walking away from any attempts to water down a truly believeable mythology he took the easy way out-he sold us the characters and the story out. The X-files is dead and buried. Enjoy it in reruns or DVD.

  5. I believe that true x-philes would take the good with the bad. If you’re not a true fan of the show in its entirety, then why bother even talking about it at all? Sure, I was upset by the last two seasons with the leading character missing, but I stuck through it and so did many other true x-philes. We were rewarded when David came back to help end the show, which was a very cool thing for him to do. I think it’s even cooler that he is trying to keep the interest alive and is campaigning for the new movie every chance he gets. That shows that it is something he’s proud of. I am VERY excited about a new movie with its original cast because to me, the show started with Mulder and Scully and should end with them. Mulder is the core of the show and always has been. I am really glad that they are going to treat us x-philes to another round of old style X-files like the good ole days. KUDOS to Chris Carter for answering our plee!

  6. They should just say that season 8 & 9 never happened, apologize, and pick up where 7 left off. I would love to see an X-files comeback, with the orginal cast, and episodes as good as the first 5 seasons!

  7. The X Files used to be amazing, and had it ended in season 7, despite the fact that it had gone somewhat downhill, there was still a good enough premise for a second movie. Season 8 and 9 however have wrecked that. If there’s no syndicate, no Lone Gunmen, no smoking man, no Krycheck, then what the hell is there? Nothing, that’s what.
We’ll be left with Dogget and Rayez who are absolutely rubbish characters and shouldn’t have anything to do with the X Files, and Carter will desperately try to tie up those loose ends with nothing to go on.
There is a possibility that Carter and Spotniz could save the show that they wrecked, but it would have to be based on what Mulder was doing during season 8 and 9 when we didn’t see him, and Dogget and Rayez can’t be in it. If they are, this lifetime fan will feel like all the others, and hate it.

  8. I love X-Files, seasons 7, 8 & 9 are just great, considering David is not there. I’d love to see this 2nd film!

    Screen Rant, I CARE

    THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE

  9. I love X-Files, it was one of the reasons I had to pick certain classes that will not affect its airing time when I was still doing my nursing, it just didnt become that interesting anymore after Season 5, for me at least.

I dunno about a follow up movie really.
