David Morrissey cast in Basic Instinct 2

DavidMorrissey.jpgDubious news for the talented British actor David Morrissey as Reuters through Yahoo give us the news that he is set to appear alongside Sharon Stone in the Basic Instinct sequel, imaginatively entitled, Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction.

…Stone will reprise her role as the seductive novelist Catherine Tramell.

Morrissey will play Dr. Andrew Glass, a psychiatrist who becomes entangled in her cat and mouse game. Principal photography will begin in March in London.

MGM’s long-awaited sequel to the infamous 1992 hit takes Tramell from San Francisco to London, where she again finds herself in trouble with the law. Glass, a criminal psychiatrist, is appointed by Scotland Yard to evaluate her.

“Basic Instinct 2” will be directed by Michael Caton-Jones (“City by the Sea”) from a script by Leora Barish (“Desperately Seeking Susan”) and Henry Bean (“The Believer”).

I love those two lines which add so much pathos to the story, “long-awaited sequel” and “finds herself in trouble with the law”. Yes, we’ve all been waiting on tenderhooks for this movie, and the Tramell character did find a little trouble with the law before, could this be for throwing snowballs at a passing bus or something just as troublesome?

Morrissey is a fine actor with some excellent performances beneath his belt, I really hope this isn’t a bad move for him and ends up haunting his career.

  1. I didnt watch Catwoman so I couldnt say how she fared in that, but it turned out to be a big dud anyway.

I hope her career picks up, that’s what you need after a bad divorce.

  2. I hope life doesn’t begin at 40…what am I doing now? Building up to it? I thought that was 30!!

I think she has a lot of talent, and not in just certain scenes either. I’d like to see more of her too…

…oh dear, innuendos aplenty and I don’t mean it either!

  3. It will be very interesting to see Sharon Stone reprising this role and still oozing with sensuality. I hope producers/filmmakers will take a look at her again and give her good roles after this.

I read from a magazine article that since she has hit the big 4, Hollywood thought she had leprosy and began ignoring her. She only turned 40.

But doesnt life begin at 40?
