Foxx and Swank Take Top SAG Awards

swank4.jpgNo surprises here as the Screen Actors Guild handed out their annual awards on Sunday. Jamie Foxx predictably took home the Best Actor awards for his role in “Ray”, and Hilary Swank was given Best Actress for “Million Dollar Baby”. Here’s the complete list of Motion Picture winners:

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role
Jamie Foxx / RAY – Ray Charles Universal Pictures

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role
Hilary Swank / MILLION DOLLAR BABY – Maggie Warner Bros.

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role
Morgan Freeman / MILLION DOLLAR BABY – Scrap Warner Bros.

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role
Cate Blanchett / THE AVIATOR – Katharine Hepburn Miramax Films

Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture
SIDEWAYS Fox Searchlight Pictures

As a special note, the category of Best Cast is essentially SAG’s version of Best Picture. It’s nice to see Sideways take it.

  1. Strange that no one even thought about Jamie Foxx or RAY, until the Golden Globe nominations. And now he is hot property. I have the bad feeling that the wrong actor will win the Best Actor award – all because he is very popular with the Hollywood community at the moment.

  2. Same sentiment here about “Sideways” John. I really like what Payne did to this film.

I thought they robbed Giamatti again this year for not even nominating him.
