This just came from nowhere and plonked itself in my browser. Total surprise, I had no idea about a farcical version of the Matrix series of films apart from it’s own good work!
So when I saw the warning on Movie-List Forums:
This “The Matrix” parody will be released theatrically in US on March 18th. Looks like a crap.
I decided to ignore it, and look where it took me, now I’m writing a post about it! Still, to be quite honest it doesn’t look very slapstic funny and actually it doesn’t look that funny at all. There are a few giggles I came across with one big laugh, but nothing serious, but yet I was actually impressed.
Firstly, if you are checking out the clips, just see how many different film references there are, and although the humour isn’t cranked up to eleven, or even five, it’s still there and it’s quite off beat. It also struck me as quite clever in places, perhaps it’s just another case of a well made trailer, but the teasers have some clever moments too. There’s a lot of thought gone into making these parody the Matrix characters and situations, and if you hadn’t guessed already, it’s actually kind of appealing to me.
Perhaps there is a part of it that’s because it’s going to parody something that really needs a slap in the face, perhaps it’s the high production values that seem to have gone into it, perhaps it’s because the whole series has just taken itself far too seriously already. I’m not sure. However, you have to admit that the missing high laugh jokes aside, there are some clever moments to be had here.
You know what? I might just go and see The Helix…Loaded. Oh, and it also has such talent as Vanilla Ice and T. J. Hart in it, she of around one hundred dubiously titled movies. Ahem. As an aside, what is amazing is that I never knew IMDB covered all these movies…and you can rate them!!
Anyway, forget that for the moment, just bear in mind the tagline from IMDB:
When “The One” dies, Orpheum must find the “Other One.”
Oh dear. It’s worth a giggle.
EYEBALL PAPERCUTS IS AWESOME! It was the funniest internet film I’ve seen yet. I emailed the director and told him I thought he did a really good job and he seemed like he wasn’t very proud of it. Oh well, he should be! Whenever these guys do more, I can’t wait to see it!

I don’t know about this one…I don’t think anyone can beat the short and simple parody of the matrix done by the hip folks over at the MTV music awards. But I do agree with Richard here, this film went way too far within itself. A little too high and mighty in it‚Äôs pseudo intellectual self. Might be some very good laugh‚Äôs here, I hope I wasn‚Äôt the only one laughing to myself at certain parts of the matrix trilogy.
