  1. I thought it was great, nothing wrong with it at all. I was laughing.

Screw the sound quality, unless I can’t hear it right or there’s really loud noises that blow my speakers, don’t change a thing.

  2. Who cares about sound quality when it’s a talk show? The sound quality is fine if you ask me.

I thought this week’s show was pretty funny guys. You have to remember that the people who don’t like something are the ones who will yell the loudest. For every one person who didn’t like the show, there are probably 100 more who downloaded it and silently enjoyed it.

  3. Yeah… sound quality is an issue… but I’m still committed to those people who still have to suffer with Dial-Up internet. I want them to be able to listen to The Audio Edition streaming without having to wait 3 hours to download it.

In the near future, I’ll be putting up 2 versions of the Edition. 1 low band… 1 high band. Watch for it.

  4. My biggest issue is the sound quality. This is the age of broadband. A normal movie trailer is about 20 mb. John and Doug, turn of the cellphones, close the doors, put up some sound absorbant materials and give us a 10 mb mp3-file.

Keep up the good job! :)

  5. Whoah hold on, the Chewbacca bit was hilarious. Chewbacca and Kermit the frog as hosts of the Academy awards was brilliant!

Of course, this is all IMHO, and everyone is entitled to have their own opinion about the humour. I just wanted to make sure both sides were well-represented.

(And no, I won’t login with a different alias to back myself up!)

  6. I thought it was hilarious.

They talk about movies all the time in the posts on the blog. Most of the posts themselves aren’t especially funny (not an insult at all, they’re just more like news bulletins than comedy bits). So having what is more of a comedy show every week makes sense to me. This isn’t something that should be taken so seriously. If they start making acutal posts about how Chewbacca has been snubbed for being a gay wookie, then I’d see a reason to complain.

Let John have his weekly comedy show. If you don’t want to hear it, don’t listen, and just read the normal news posts.

  7. Worst Movies to win Best Pictures:

    1. Cimarron (1930)
    2. Broadway Melody (1928)
    3. Cavalcade (1933)
    4. The Greatest Show on Earth (1952)
    5. Around The World in 80 Days (1956)
    6. Terms Of Endearment (1983)
    7. Gentleman’s Agreemant (1947)
    8. Titanic (1997)
    9. Going My Way (1944)

Best Movies Not to Win Best Picture (even limited to US films):

    1. Citizen Kane (1941)
    2. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
    3. Mulholland Drive (2001)
    4. Dr. Strangelove (1964)
    5. The Conversation (1974)
    6. Rear Window (1954)
    7. Casablanca (1942)
    8. Chinatown (1974)
    9. Do the Right Thing (1989)

Of course, I haven’t seen every good movie, nor even every Best Picture winner. But if you include foreign releases, I’m pretty certain the actual ‘best film’ of ANY given year has NEVER won ‘Best Picture’.

  8. Thank-you for removing that post about the Mountie Deaths in Alberta, Canada….It was way out of line…(You may remove this comment too, if you wish)…Just wanted to indicate that it was a smart move.

  9. I have to say that I agree with Paul.

More than 2 seconds dedicated to “Is Conan better than Braveheart”? John, maybe you ought to get more of a movie buff and less of a comedian as co-host. Seems like you’re trying to have a decent conversation about movies but he’s trying to prove how funny he is since, you know, he’s a comedian.

BTW, the next Trek movie is supposed to have a completely new cast.

And yeah, the Chewbacca thing went WAAAY past funny, but not in a good way.

On the other hand you guys did get a bit better towards the end.

    Vic

  10. It might be me, but I feel the audio edition has become a bit self indulgent of late.

The whole chewbacca thing was so drawn out and boring and not funny that it was difficult to listen to.

And the last 3-5 audio versions have got weaker and weaker based on this need for a cheap laugh (that goat thing a few weeks ago was lame).

We don’t want a comedy show if we did we’d tune into the people who do it full time. What you do is discuss films full time. Forget that and you√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢ll lose your audience.

Just stick to what you are good at which is discussing films, and doing that brilliantly. You are both funny guys but don’t try so hard.
