Now, Now, people! If we condemed every actor for doing a bad movie or having some bad press then guess what there would be nothing to watch.I personally think he is talented and needs to be cut a little slack. He is an Oscar winner for screenwritting. I think he just had a couple bad years and needs to get back into the groove. After all this is Hollywood and it all comes down to that "LUCKY BREAK". So I'm rooting for you Mr.Affleck.

What people forget is that Ben is not telkling the story, Dennis Lehane is. the Kenzie/Gennaro books are bad ass and if Ben sticks to the book he'll do fine. Although I think those who read the books may agree that Casey playing Patrick kenzie is kind of dumb. Casey seems to young and woosy.

I've read the Kenzie/Gennaro series and I think Ben's got his work cut out for him. Lately he's gotten more attention for his personal life than his professional and I hope he does this story justice. The main characters have to have a certain chemistry and I haven't heard enough about this little brother to believe he can handle it. I hope Ben's not going to mess up a good story just to give his little brother a break.

My mom & 5 yo niece met Ben today in Dorchester. My mom couldn't get over how sweet he was. I am impressed. I thought he seemed like somewhat of a jerk, just from what the papers write about him. See, shouldn't believe everything you read! He was great with my niece, spending time talking to her and signing a piece of paper for her to take to her mom! She brought him some stolen flowers from a garden on her way to see him! Glad that he's doing the movie in my hometown of Dorchester!

I'm looking forward to GONE, BABY, GONE. I thought GOOD WILL HUNTING was well written, moving and compelling thanks to the excellent acting, casting and directing. Ben was memorable in that film. I bet he'll do a wonderful job with GONE, BABY, GONE. He'll certainly have the support of his hometown rallying behind him. Finally, another film about Boston and surrounding areas, this time using Boston talent in a big way. Hooray for hometown writers, directors, actors, crew and casting. CP Casting always does well casting with a real feeling for authentic New England characters. I can't wait!

Ben Affleck is a great actor and from one Bostonian to another I wanted to say good luck on the new film you are directing in Boston. I am glad he to see that someone from Boston is chosen to direct a movie in Boston. I am always proud to see you in the stands at many Red Sox games rooting for your home team. Ben, you have done such a wonderful job in every movie you acted in. You did a great job directing "Good Will Hunting" which I seen part of the shooting of.
I am a woman who keeps up with everything in Boston because I live here myself. I know Ben and Matt Damon have done some major work lobbying with poloticians at the State House for the film industry in Ma. and you won!!! Congratulations on achieving such a big goal!!
I myself have done a lot of advocacy work and going into Polotician's offices with Lobbyist to speak on behalf of thousands of people or agencies who were faced with budget cuts which we fought and won. These are the many things Ben does In Ma. that many of you do not see and he deserves the right to be the Director of lots of films in Ma. becuase he is great at it plus he worked hard to achieve this goal. I know you will be great at every movie you Direct. I know some people talk crap but it's only because they are jealous. People like Ben will never forget where he came from. I watched every movie of his and loved them all. I only hope someday to meet such a great man!! I don't know if you will read this or not Ben but if you do I want to say "Keep up the good work" and I look forward to seeing you around Boston. I was called in to cast for a part in this new film and if I am chosen I will be the lucky one to work for such a great Bostonian!!

I'm not sure if it's because Hollywood is so insular, but I often see good actors and directors appearing clueless when it comes to those celebrities that are a joke among the real world. Like Meryl Streep and Robert Altman singing the praises of Lindsay Lohan after working with her on that Prairie Home Companion movie.

That said, maybe Affleck will be better behind the camera than in front of it. It's weird - I can't stand his movies, yet everytime he's been on Saturday Night Live or The Daily Show I've found him very likable and entertaining.

Well heck. Who knew there was a formidable director under the pretty boy facade of Mel Gibson? Or, dare I say, Kevin Costner?

I say Affleck's underrated as an actor (when he's not phoning it in like in Pearl Harbor), so I'll gladly reserve judgment as to his talent as director.

And let's not forget Affleck IS an Oscar winning screenwriter, so he does know how to tell a story. This could be interesting.

I am not surprised at all, he's a great actor and will surely prove his directorial skills with this film! People need to give him the chance to prove himself before they bash him!!
