Punisher 2 Update
I am one of the few humans alive today that actually enjoyed Punisher. I’ve also been looking forward to seeing where they take things with Punisher 2. However, it would appear that while Punisher 2 is still going to get made… it’s getting delayed for a while. Our friends at Cinematical give us this:
Tom Jane recently gave another Q and A session over at his message boards, and in the very first question Tom back-tracked on his earlier suggestion about the movie filming this summer. According to Tom, P2 is “still looking for a good script,” which the team hopes to have in place by sometime this fall.
Hmmm… that actually flies contrary to the word I heard a while ago that said the script was finished. oh well… guess that was either incorrect or they trashed the script and decided to start again. I’m not DYING to see Punisher 2… but I’ll still be happy when it finally comes out… IF it ever comes out.

I didn’t like the first one. I was let down big time. I was expecting alot of violence troughout the movie, but instead The Punisher, punishes someone with an ice-pop. I played The Punisher game and that game was so bloody violent. There was apart you could dunk someones head into a bath full of piranha. Now thats The Punisher I know.
To be honest I thought that I was the only one that liked the Punisher film but hey…there’s another! I thought it stuck to the comic book quite well and got the ’spirit’ of the character just right.
Lets hope that by delaying it…they are actually trying to make it right and not rushing it :)
I liked The Punisher film with Jane (and even have a guilty pleasure in the Lundgren version as well) but the news confuses me. Isn’t the writer-director from the first film (Jane version) returning for the sequel? Also, considering that the Punisher films isn’t a big budget Superman, Spider-Man type film, what is the story?!
I hated the first movie. The main problem being that it took like half an hour to kill of his stupid family. It isn’t an original concept, why all the damn screen time? Just kill them and move on, or just have him mention it a bit. I liked the comics it was based on but I hated his stupid roommate type guys. Way too much screen time. The Punisher was a co-star in his own film. Also, there was absolutely nothing between him and Travolta. Bit annoying.
However, now that they can’t do the boring origin stuff that EVERY superhero movie gets bogged down in (one of the reasons Fantastic 4 sucked so much) they might be able to get a good movie out of it. Jane is cool for the character, if a little young. They just need to live up to that gritty, dark stuff they promised and they pussied out of for the first film. I want to see him put a hand grenade in someone’s mouth. They didn’t deal with the murder aspect very much at all. He fights crime. He’s a murderous Batman. Take Jane’s t-shirt off in the first movie and it could be just another Steven Segal movie.
John Campea, I’m curious, why did you like the first Punisher?
Punisher with Jane was not bad (better than the one with Ivan Drago)but they should give it that Batman Begins Look & Feel.
I agree with the comment about putting a grenade in someones mouth, in the comics he didn’t give a shit
I liked the fact that they really changed what he used to i.e. some p.o.g from the vietnam war and made him an undercover FBI agent who has a special ops background. I think that they did a real good job on the technical aspects of what makes him tick and how he operates. I think that a little attention needs to be paid to his weapons and how he kills them, because lets face it that is what the PUNISHER is all about.
well i would like to see alot more of the punisher like all the shit he does like i wanna see a knife in someones mouth and then in to a wall and stay there. in 2 or 3 of the punisher movies I would like to see another super hero in there like batman,daredevil,spider-man,and wolverine cause like think it would be a sick cross over!

No Cross-overs please. It would take away from the respective movies and many wouldn’t understand the cross-over at all. And Frank Castle was an Infantry Captain in Vietnam, not a P.O.G. In you read the comic series: Born, he clearly is a BMF in it. I mean he frags a General, and a Corperal IIRC. I certainly hope they bring Jigsaw and A LOT more violence. But was pleased with the first film (with Jane). It was definately in his persona to tortue somone with a popsicle for information. Especially when the informant gave it willingly. And the climatic battle and everything up to it in the movie was CLASSIC Punisher.
I know the perfect script I love the punisher movie but only the last 15 minutes.
the real punisher dosen’t sit around and devise ways of killing the bad guys he does quickly and efficantly.
So the new movie should be based on the comics like the fans like.
Jigsaw would be cool but why not do the issue “holy wars” that was the best and jigsaw plot also webed in so there’s alot more action.
please!!!! don’t make so wimpy the real punisher would have kicked the knee out on the russian in last movie and put a granade in his mouth in 10 seconds.
Read the comics or play the video game that my friends is how the punisher is!! (or like the last 15 minutes of the movie)

I like the Punisher movie,and yes it could have been better but it was still good. Tom Jane played the Punisher well. I hope they make a Punisher 2 and make it soon. You cant really expect to Punisher to do better than Spiderman , Superman in the movies when they are household superhero names but with more movies the Punisher can make up alot of ground on all the other main comic book heros. I do agree there should have been more deadly action but you alos have to build the story since it was the 1st movie out.
I liked the first Punisher. What I dont think alot of people get with these new Marvel movies that are coming out like The Hulk, Punisher and the first Fantastic Four is they’re not what everyone is expecting because they are telling the origins of the characters. I’m sure there will be alot more violence and such in the second Punisher movie the first one focuses more on why Frank is the Punisher, he lost his family it’s all about his character developement. That’s why there isn’t much violence just like the other movies. The Hulk isn’t that great bc it’s the first time the “monster” has ever been out. The 1st movie of a series is never what you expect bc there’s so much people dont know about the characters. So the movie has to tell those people that never read a comic book who these people are and where they come from.
