First of all, let me start with this:

I strongly disagree with you, John Campea. I don't disagree with you all the time. And I'm right on...wait, what did I just say...? Nevermind. I'm still right.

Yes, Darren C. I was a bit sarcastic with you and Doug on the previous AC---but not on that one a few weeks ago when Doug screamed 'Hello Muthafawkkers' into the mike. Besides, it was Doug who nicknamed me The Sealer first, so I can't rip on him too much...

Which brings me up to the fan post it/new (test) feature.

For starters, I think this is a good thing, especially on the weekends, where topics are few and far between. I have sometimes e-mailed John on a few topics now and then ...sometimes he posts/responds, sometimes not. Since this test thing is only up for a short time, there's not a lot of news to report to the Int'l friends which they could comment on which hasn't been brung up already. There's also things which, in all fairness I personally get sick of hearing about (ie love triangles, divorces, custody battles and other Entertainment Tonight and reality show intrigue) so I sure as heck won't want to write about them. Granted, some actor's overexposure in the media can cause some backlash in the box office (gee, wonder who the Sealer means by that, sayeth those who read this) which is sad because it shouldn't be so.

oh wait---I can submit *something* I briefly mentioned it in a comment the other day. Hang on to your arm chair.

Now, on to greener pastures...

2) Knight Rider.

I think it should be said that "Michael Knight" in the TV series was a 'assumed new identity'. The character Hasselhoff played had reconstructive face surgery and the new identity so I...no wait, scratch that. The actor would then have to act like Hasselhoff. Still, it would be a way to give him a cameo.

There was, I think a short lived series syndicated spinoff of Knight Rider "Team Knight Rider" where Knight did train a bunch of new rookie agents, then stepped back and was gone from the show ...and it was a number of cars and trucks with the KITT program, but not with KITT/William Daniels. It followed the continiuty of the series and the first Knight Rider TV film (KN 2000) but the second TV film (KN 2010) is out of that continuity...or is it?

In any case, I can see why Hasslehoff would want to be back. But he'd be better of on the Baywatch movie. Or...look, he's not the best actor. He's not a great actor. But it's not like he can't get work. Give him another crapfest series, he'll be okay. At least in Germany.

3) Superman Returns full trailer. Supes flies through walls. He rescues an out of control plane [like the first film with Reeve, but bigger and different effects wise] someone shoots at him with a big ass gun. Kevin Spacey looks great. Routh is fine. Everyone but one person in the trailer is fine. And I don't mean the little tyke. I mean KATE BOSWORTH.
I can see why folks reduced the Man of steel's package. Sounds like the right thing to do.

"Woof!" says the dog.

4) I didn't get what was so great about Sixth Sense. The whole buzz about the film, caused a more superior thriller in the same vein, "Stir Of Echoes', to be virtually ignored. Sixth wasn't a bad film, I thought. But when the twist came, I wasn't surprised. I said So What.

Unbreakable had a good premise, but failed in storytelling. For those 'surprises' it was answers to questions that the audience never asked. So what?

Signs was M Night's best film to date. It drew me in, never put me out. Yes, the water thing...well, ialiens could go on land where there is little, if any water. [of course, there is a more interesting arguement to be made after the fact: the human body itself is more than 50% made up of ...what, class?]

Village: interesting idea, which has a payoff/third act so totally unrealistic and laughable. Here's a thought to consider: even if a plane cannot fly lower than say, 500 feet over a piece of land. Fine. But...how often do you see a plane in the sky- you can't always "see" the plane, but you can see the exhaust gas trail? Furthermore, if the "community" wanted to live the way it felt it needed to, why not join the Amish?

I don't want to talk about it any more: just recalling that piece of dung gives me a migrane.

I'm not looking forward to Lady, but the trailer looks alright...

Finally...
I don't give a damn about Warcraft The Movie. But...at least they will create a new storyline for the film. Characters in a new adventure? Like or hate Tomb Raider, I admit, that was one of the advantages of the Tomb Raider films. You did not have to follow/play the games. New story (what there was of them) but the *idea* is NOT just to give an olive branch to the fanbase. The idea is try to get *more* fans with a crossover appeal.

Doom was a piece of crap. I still want to know where all that $60 mil it took to produce the movie went to. I seen Richard Band/Empire and Roger Corman/Concorde flicks...okay? They had cheapo sets all of which either matched Doom's sets and creatures...or surpassed them. The recent DTV Jean Claude Van Damme flick had better action!

Which since I'm here, I cannot resist. I'm sorry. Really. Let's hear it from me, one more time: F'n Hell with that first person shooter scene in that damn movie.

I think I see what you're saying, Campea. And marty too. I have the Final Fantasy VII movie (haven't watched it yet, but I'll have time tomorrow). Now, for the gaming fans, they'll be winners. The way I see it, there should've been an adaption to FFVII, straight to film. Just get the story, bend it into a good movie (just like with comic book movies, i.e. Batman Begins), and you can (possibly) have a good movie for both casual movie viewers and die-hard fans. I think the story is capable for an adaption, 3D or anime (whatever works). I'm not sure if it is a good idea, but I think it could work that way.

As for Doom, I think it was okay. I was actually getting into it. I feel that Hell should've been involved. I'd like to have seen mutant alien demons and The Rock kick Satan's ass, then have demon powers (stupid, huh?). I would be just like wrestling, XD.

As for Unbreakable, I can understand that some people don't like it. For me, I do. It's one of my favorites. Why not The Sixth Sense, somebody spoiled the damn movie for me. So don't go the the 'Uncyclopedia'.

Oh, and the 7 minute preview of X-Men 3 in 8:30 (pacific time), so get ready. We'll now see if this scene is good or spell doom (no pun) and loose more viewers for the movie.

-Later!

Welcome back John.

I'd be nice if they stuck to the original car from Night Rider but changed the inside, like Kitt could have a DVD player, Ipod, Mirowave and even a vibrating chair. I remember when I was young I played car racing games and I pretended I was Michael Knight and I did the voice of Kitt.

I'm still not sold on the "Lady in the Water". Something just doens't sit well with me and although I've enjoyed Shyamalan's offerings in the past, after "The 6th Sense" they have all become somewhat predictable (you know there's ALWAYS a twist coming). I'm not planning to be there on opening weekend but I'll be keeping my eye on it for sure.

Got around to seeing the Lady in the Water trailer thought it was fantastic and I really hope it lives up to how well the two trailers have been. Also i posted in the Wc movie post but i'll say here too that I am pumped for this film even if it is a bit of a ripoff of lord of the rings, but on a side note, i feel that taking the world and making thier own story is a very interesting move, because it opens up so many possibilites to please all the fans and the general audience, such as setting the film on maybe just humans, or any of the other races, and maybe taking thier perspective would be cool, but also too, depending on how well it is done, this could be a HUGE franchise with unlimited amounts of story and information to pull from the games, unlike the lord of the rings where the rights of tolkein don't allow for (at least i believe i could be wrong) for other films using simply the universe, but maybe thats for the best, and I do believe that this could actually escape the whole lotr rip off feel by being a universe so many diverse stories can be pulled from and used.

Oh yeah and the whole warcraft fanbase alone for world of warcraft has 6 million users, and then theres the other three games as well. Well thats all from beejag later

DOOM SPOILER:

It had the Rock as a crazy-ass monster! And I'd pay £5 for that FPS sequence alone. I agree that's a bad movie, but it's one of the fun ones.

And some Shyamalan points I thought I should bring up:

The Village is a VERY misunderstood film. I didn't like it a lot either, but it wasn't because I was disappointed with it's story or ending. People didn't give The Village a chance because it was horrendously mis-marketed. The Village is NOT a scary movie, and the ending isn't supposed to be some mind blowing surprise. I agree completely that The Village is a character driven film, not a story driven film, and people just weren't expecting that.

As for Signs, the only reply I have to the "they shouldn't have invaded a water planet" complaint is that maybe we just don't know enough about these creatures. Maybe Earth was their only hope for survival. Say they had no home planet, and couldn't find any other option.

And Unbreakable is my favorite Shyamalan film, to be honest.

Totally agree with Darren too. Signs gets my vote for the favourite, despite the water/aliens comments everybody always makes. Quick note: We know NOTHING about the aliens in that movie. We don't know what they want. The aliens never say "We want your planet." We don't know how desperate they are. In War Of The Worlds the aliens are dying, their invasion is a last ditch attempt to prolong their lives. They're killed by germs! Also, nobody said that these aliens were super-intelligent. Doesn't always have to be the case. One of them got locked in a pantry. That's pretty stupid.

I agree with what you guys said about not trying to please the fans of video games with the adaptations. The recent CG Final Fantasy movie was all about giving service to the fans. There were a million references to different game events and lots of talking about dead game characters and, even having played through the game, I was bored to death. There was no story. They just wanted to make a FF movie and invented a reason for it to happen. Totally faithful to the fans, totally crap. I liked the other Final Fantasy movie, the cinema-released, story-from-scratch Spirits Within, a whole lot more.

I play games quite a bit too. I've heard the name Warcraft bandied around but had no idea at all what it was about. Maybe this isn't a "gamers" thing, maybe it's a "PC gamers" thing.

Anyone watch Doom? That's the best video game movie ever (so far). Cheesy brilliance.
