Pirates of the Caribbean 4 – 5 and 6?
Jerad sent me this link to an interesting interview Newsweek had with Johnny Depp. In the interview Depp talks about fatherhood… fame… media… oh, and this little film franchise he has going at the moment called “Pirates of the Caribbean”. Heard of it?
One of the more interesting bits in the interview is near then end as Depp talks about his desire to keep playing Capt. Jack:
The huge success of the film “made perfect sense to me on the one hand, and at the same time, it made no sense at all, which I kind of enjoyed.” He takes another drag, exhales. “Yeah, it just felt right. Even now, with the dolls and the cereal boxes and snacks and fruit juices, it all just feels fun to me, in a Warholian way. It’s absurd. It doesn’t get more absurd.” Depp’s not ready to let go of Captain Jack just yet. “He’s a blast to play,” he says. “I’ll be in a deep, dark depression saying goodbye to him.” He laughs. “I’ll keep the costume and just prance around the house, entertain the kids.” Or the rest of the world. “Maybe ‘Pirates 4, 5 and 6′,” he says. “If they had a good script, why not? I mean, at a certain point, the madness must stop, but for the moment, I can’t say that he’s done.”
Well… I guess that’s a bit of a spoiler. Jack Sparrow doesn’t die in 2 or 3. As far as Pirates 4, 5 and 6 goes… don’t get your hopes too high. First of all I’m sure some of this is the typical pre-release hype marketing that actors do for a film. I’m not saying Depp is lying at all… just that he’s in movie marketing mode right now. And that’s totally fair… that’s his job afterall.
Second… don’t forget that Johnny Depp doesn’t decide if there will be more Pirates movies or not. That decision is up to the studios. Depp strikes me as a really versatile actor who, when all is said and done, will probably want to move on and do other more diverse projects. Besides… as TOTALLY EXCITED as I am for Pirates 2… how many can you really do before it gets tired? I think 3 is perfect… then let it go.
However, keep in mind that I’m saying that before seeing 2 and 3… but still… even if they’re brilliant (and we have no reason to suspect they won’t be), I think after 3 it’s time to tuck Capt. Jack away. 4 would really be pushing it. Although I’m sure Orlando Bloom would love 3 more Pirates movies… his career is pretty much done.
Im skeptiacal about a second trilogy but if it works it works……I mean they are planning 6 films for spiderman and I feel that given spiderman’s iconic status and well knwon story lines (venom and death of gwen stacy…snooze) that would get a bit more stale than Captain Jack who has a lot of history to explore….

Agreed, Pirates movies are alot of fun and I will withhold judgement on on 4-6 until I see the 2nd and 3rd. I too was surprised to hear Mr. Depp would be in for 3 more as he does seem to like mixing up the roles he takes, but if he’s enjoying it more power to him.
As for Orlando Bloom, Ive only seen him in LotR and these Pirate movies until this week-end when I finally got a chance to sit down and watch Kingdom of Heaven, and I really liked it, alot, I’d be very surprised if his career is anywhere near done. With some more maturity and and the right choice of movies I think he could have an excellent career.

I just watched the extended cut of Kingdom Heaven and it was great. One of the Ridley Scott’s best. Bloom was ok in it… much better than in the abysmal Troy, although I thought he was outshadowed by other more charismatic actors.
The director’s cut is one of the better extended versions out there.
I seriously doubt Orlando Bloom’s career is anywhere close to finished….. As i wrote that i looked him up on IMDB, assuming he had many project underway… whoops, guess not!….. Well, i will then assume once the new Pirates movie hits, all the girls who don’t go googoo for Depp will be smitten with him (and some guys too) and some roles to cash in on his “fame” will come rolling on in. Also, it seems that all the films he has appeared in have some enourmously long production schedules, so his schedule is pretty tied up with these big movies.
I wouldn’t worry about him until he has a guest shot on E.R.
In the world we find ourselves in, movies are made strictly to gain a little bit of money without any regard for the previous entries/fanbase/history. With that said, my expectations for movies/hollywood have gone WAYYYYYY down with all the remakes/reimagining/direct to video sequel… bullshit.
The fact of the matter is, writing/plot aside, if the company just has all of the same actors playing the same characters in it…. hell I’ll see it. That in itself is rare now-a-days.

Well i think that they can make as many movies as they want…the effects will just keep getting better and better as the years go by…… i honestley think that these are GREAT movies and they chould make about 20 and ill still go to see it as long as Orlando Bloom is in it…

well, the second movie was a blast and i cant wait 2 c d third film and it all depends on how dat 1 ends. I mean if der are stil alot of questions 2 be answered den yes it wud be great 2 c a 4th film but even if the 3rd 1 ends wit no questions 2 be answered id still like 2 c a 4th 1!! its a movie u dont get sick ov!! i went 2 c d 2nd 1 in cinema 2 times and bought d 1st 1 on dvd and watched it every nite without gettin tired ov it!! and 4get about orlando bloom, yes he is hott, but johnny depp is so hott 2!!
i think that 6 would be a bit much, but 4 or 5 would be ok. These films struck me as crazy first since, you know, some previous pirate films turned out to be a disappointment to me. however, when I watched the first one, I fell in love with the movie and craved for more. We watched the second one with lots of excitement (turns out the excitement did not go to waste. I was definitely not disappointed.) and we eagerly anticipate the movie(s) to come.

I think there should be a 4th Pirates…i am a HUGE fan of the first two and i cant wait til the 3rd comes out! I hope it’ll be as good as the first and second. They were awsome! I loved on the second one at the end when Commador Barbosa walked down the steps and took a big bite out of an apple. I also like the part were Depp told Knieghtly to use the compose and think of what you want most in life and it kept pointing at Depp. That was hilarious. And also when Kiera wanted to sail with Depp and he told the shipmates to hide the rum.Anyway, I think that these are the best movies to hit hollywood since ”Blazin Saddels”. That movie is freaking awsome!!!!!!Hey cowboy, is that a ten gallon hat or are you just enjoying the show? Well I hope they make some more movies. Well peace out!

I am so excited for the third movie (only 229 days) It’s coming out May 25. And I think that they should keep making the movies – it is extremely entertaining and it isn’t a bad movie either, (it doen’t have lots of swearing or tons of dirty sexual remarks) and I hope they don’t squeeze any of it in!!!!!

I think that pirates of the caribbean 1 and 2 are great!!! I feel if they’re going to make a 4-6 I’m guessing that it will be great too. I think if anyone could pull it off it would be them.Orlando and johnny are two of the best actors.A lot of people didn’t think that the second movie would be nearly as good as the first, but in my opinion they were equal. I think they have a great crew and a great story line. I think waiting a few yrs up to five to release the 4-6 movies wouldn’t be a bad Idea. I think waiting to long though could.If they have any tie to the other story lines you wouldn’t want to wait to long or nobody would remember the story lines. Plus if you waited up to 10 yrs you would appeal to a whole new generation which maybe wouldn’t be such a good Idea.Plus if you waited up to 10 yrs the age gap in the characters could goof up the story line or at least make it harder. I say they should go ahead and make the movies.

Ok i am one of the biggest fans of JD ok i;m the biggest fan of JD lol ok i will stop. But i have loved Johnny Depp way before his Jack Sparrow Days he is an AMAZING actor!! Thinking of all his movies i do think Captin Jack Sparrow is the best character he has ever played and he has played alot. Jack Sparrow does not die by the way. Apart from the fact he is amazing and could not die they would want to leave the story open for posible more. And it would not make sense 2 and 3 would have the same ending Jack dieing!! They would not even think of doing that!!!
There deff is talk about four and five from Jerry Bruckheimer and cast and crew but it is not definate. And if there was it would be another 3 year wait. 1 was made on its own (obviously) 3 years later 2 and 3 (Which were made together) come outs. 4 and 5 (if made) would come out 2010 or later.

Pirates of the Caribbean 1 and 2 are the best movies ever made in my opinion. I think the best part of these movies is the adventures and the characters. I mean when you think pirate you would never have thought Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom. I think that these characters bring new meaning to the word. If they were going to make a 4th, 5th and 6th movie they couldn’t kill Captain Jack. If they do kill Jack they would lose half there viewers because Captain Jack just makes the movie what it is.

I’ve heard much about the third movie comming out. something about the pirates changing time… which is how barbosa comes back alive. i definetly would love for there to be a 4th, maybe 5th. i do agree although there are tons of fans, it might not get as many viewers if the movie keeps comming out because it might just get boring. my sister is a HUGE fan of jack sparrow (jonny depp) and i know she’s just thrilled to see the next movie comming out. though if there is a 4th movie (which i’ve heard they’re making it right now) there definetly needs to be a crazy twist in it, kind of how the 2nd movie kept you wondering what will happen to jack.. you know, something like that. =)

I am fourteen and have been a huge fan of the films since I saw the first one Christmas 2003. I fell in love with pirates and the beautiful Captain Jack Sparrow. My rolemodel, Johnny Depp, is the most beautiful and most talented actor in the world! I would give anything for them to make more movies, even if it doesn’t have Will or Elizabeth. I like them, but Captain Jack is the main reason I watch the movies. If they won’t do six, I think it would be cool to do a fourth about Captain Jack’s past or something. I will totally cry when they end the series. Captain Jack is just such a beautiful, amazing charachter, and I can never get enough of him!!
All that the directors will let out is theat in pirates 3:
-This is Keira Knightley’s last film for pirates then she’s resigning
-Will is going to die
-Keith Richards (former rolling stones guitarist) is going to appear as Jacks father
-There will be scenes containing flashback memorys of Jack as a child
-Chow Yun-Fat (really,Yun-FAT) will be playing chinese Sao Feng
Jack and Liz should stay with secret flirting and kisses while Will isn’t around.Liz should pretend to love Will when he is around.Later on Liz should delclare un-dying love for Jack when she believe he will die, even if Will is there.If Will dies first she should say she will love him forever the when he is gone she should love Jack openly.

In Pirates of the Caribbean:At World’s End, the movie ended with Will, in Davy Jone’s spot, Jack s,etting off without the Black Pearl going to find the fountain of youth, and Elizabeth with 1 boy child. As you may have noticed, Jack wa lookign at the fountain of youth on the map. In POTC4, Jack and ELizabeth are going to team up and find it, drink it, then give some to Will. By giving that to Will, he is going to beable to come back to land and be with his wife and son.
