Nicole Kidman on the set of The Golden Compass

By John Campea - October 3, 2006 - 09:22 America/Montreal

There were some movie set pics set out on the internet of Nicole Kidman on the set of The Golden Compass. The pictures are not all that flattering, but its clear that she was unaware they were being taken.

Coming Soon describes the movie as:

Based on the bestselling Philip Pullman novels, the “His Dark Materials” trilogy is comprised of “The Golden Compass,” “The Subtle Knife” and “The Amber Spyglass”. It revolves around a young girl who travels to the far north to save her best friend. Along the way she encounters shape-shifting creatures, witches, and a variety of otherworldly characters in parallel universes.

I have always been a fan of Kidman. Aside from the fact that she is outstandingly attractive, she always seems to capture something different about each character she plays.

The main character Lyra Belacqua is to be played by a 12 year old newcomer Dakota Blue Richards who beat out ten thousand other applicants for the role.

I’m thinking about writing one of these fantasy trilogy thingamabobs, because that seems to be where the money is these days. Mine will be about a boy who has a sword. Also, maybe he’s a wizard.

  2. Marina says:

I don’t think she looks bad at all in these pictures. Actually, is it really possible for Kidman to EVER look bad?

On a side note, the “His Dark Materials” trilogy is unlike many of the fantasy trilogies out there. The story is complex, the subject matter controversial and they’re amazingly written. There’s a reason they’re required reading in nearly every Children’s lit class. They aren’t HP!

  3. Zuke says:

I didn’t think she was anything above average in Days of Thunder or Far & Away (I think it was the frizzy hair)… but since To Die For, she keeps getting more and more attractive with each passing year. I don’t understand it, but I like it.

  4. Rodney says:

It was her beauty in Far and Away that first made me fall for her looks. But you are right, she keeps getting better and better!
