"Why is it you come off as a Jackass on all of Rodney's posts...it really feels you you TRY your hardest to find anything to complain about in his posts....most of the time"

On *all* of his posts? Or do I just disagree with him *some* of the time? I think I agreed with him on his recent Spider-Man post, I offered an opinion/thought on the Nativity.
I didn't say anything negative, unfair, unjust, etc. I suppose when I do agree with him, it flies under the radar. Disagree with him and suddenly...

All I said here was that Punisher facing Jigsaw isn't groundbreaking news; I didn't call him an idiot, anything R rated, or, god forbid, John Campea. In addition, I corrected myself in regards to people thinking Jigsaw=Jigsaw killer. When I am wrong, I say so.

I said I was happy to hear that the director of the previous film is returning; I did not say anything against Rodney. I am not the only one who disagrees with him (or you) at times, but I am a bit more civil, I do make points and bring up arguements.

I think a lot of this has to do with a misconception. I have nothing against Rodney.
I know I ripped into him on his first post on his return to the Blog (Martin Campell/Bond), and questioned him a bit on Species 4, of all things (but he made the correction after I pointed it out- and actually, in retrospect backs up his post on Starship Troopers3, believe it or not)

In the past few months, I have noted that when it happens like that and *I* make one minor criticism without name calling (and getting his name right on top of it), guess who gets called out? So...I'll tell you what. From now on, I'll let other folks comment on Rodney's posts. When they feel he's mistaken or lost his marbles, let them call him every name in the book, including, God forbid, John Campea, and when they get mean streaked, call them out.

I want to *stress* this: I do not have a problem with Rodney. Hopefully, Rodney does not have a problem with me...and John, (and other Int'l friends) I don't rip into Rodney as much as you think I do. Maybe it does appear that way. If so, with the exception of the two posts I mentioned, it is both unintentional and coincidental.

Since we are on this, I want to bring up a related subject. Despite the other day's comment on the new Soderbergh film, I don't have anything against Sharon, either. I want to point out again that a lot of negativity that appears from most commenters is in regards to how some posts are worded and/or read. That's why some folks misquote you. People are people, sometimes we err. Sometimes I err. But at least when I foul up I admit it.

hey Varun,

No one is saying it's gonna be a versus movie. Rodney's headline was just letting you know that the punisher will be going up against Jigsaw in the next movie. At no point did Rodney or anyone else say the title of the movie was gonna be Punisher vs Jigsaw.
Calm down brother.

Immediately thought this was Punisher vs Saw's Jigsaw and thought it might be cool or idiotic, but at least interesting enough to keep track of. Find out Jigsaw is some comic villain. Lost all interest.

I hope he handles the material better than he did with the first movie. I love Hensleigh's work (I know not everyone does) but Punisher left me wondering if the same guy who wrote Die Hard 3 and The Rock wrote AND directed the idiosyncratic mess that was Punisher. I know Jonathan Hensleigh gets a LOT of criticism for writing "stupid" movies (Armageddon mainly, and to a lesser degree The Saint -which I liked BTW) but I've liked all his films and his writing style, like Jumanji and The Rock, which he wrote but lost the title credit to due to a Writer's Guild dispute. So I was really disappointed with how he screwed up the first Punisher movie since it was his involvement specifically that got me excited about it in the first place.
Now before any Punisher movie fans tear me apart this is why I hated the first film: I was expecting Death Wish meets the Terminator and instead I got a hero who seemed lost most of the time, a supporting-cast who was foolishly miscast as comic-relief in what was supposed to be a hard "R" action flick, villains who were too quirky for belief and Travolta as a half-baked wannabe mobster. It was as if all the characters and sub-plots came from totally different movies but somehow all wandered into the same film. The plot menadered all over the place, the characters didn't compel me to like or hate them, and when it was over I could barely remember what I had been looking at the previous two hours. The movie seemed to have ADD. And Mr Hensleigh seemed to forget that comics and movies are two completely different animals with their own sets of rules. Garth Ennis' "unique" take on the Punisher may have been acceptable in the comic but it simply didn't work on film. Hensleigh should have seen that coming a mile away. Say what you want about Blade, but David Goyer knew what kind of property Blade was and knew the kind of story audiences expected to see. I hope Hensleigh does too now.
Jonathan got Punisher off to a poor start, but if he makes the sequel more of a straight-forward vigilante saga (a smart one I hope, he's certainly capable of doing that) then that would be enough to get this franchise on track. And a twisted sicko like Jigsaw is just the right villain to give Punisher the jolt it needs. Let's just hope that Jigsaw's sliced-up face doesn't tempt Hensleigh to delve into quirky James Bond villain territory.

Hey Darren,

Why is it you come off as a Jackass on all of Rodney's posts? seriously... it really feels you you TRY your hardest to find anything to complain about in his posts.

LOTS of people all over the internet (who are not avid Punisher readers) instantly thought of the Saw bad guy when they read the headline of Jigsaw in Punisher. Rodney doesn't think TMB readers are slow... but in his posts you come across as it.

You're clearly NOT a jackass... but you do yourself an injustice by the way you comment in Rodney's posts most of the time. Disagreeing is one thing... but you come off as just plain belligerent. What's the deal?

Well, it does put a spin on things.

* Hensleigh is still writing & directing Punisher 2. The majority of internet movie sites had previously reported that he left/won't return. Good to hear the contradiction for a change.

*The confirmation of Jigsaw as the villian. This, Rodney, isn't groundbreaking news. The talk of Jigsaw as the next Punisher villian was in gear for almost a full year now. {Remember the Micheal Keaton as Jigsaw rumor awhile back?}

*Jigsaw isn't the same as The Jigsaw Killer from Saw [oh, excuse me, he didn't 'kill' anybody, as the Sawpurists would point out to me, ignoring that he puts victims in those situations] --I don't know why you feel the need to go on about it, with the possible exception of Pun 2 and the Saw films are under the LGF banner. But do you really think everyone who reads the Movie Blog is that dull?

Give the readers some credit.

THIS MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE AT ALL......

THIS IS NOT A VERSUS MOVIE.....

I REPEAT THIS IS NOT A VERSUS MOVIE.....

A versus movie is one where you cross franchises...AvP, FreddyvsJason. Jigsaw is part of the Punisher franchise. Infact he was the main archnemesis for a while know.

If they call it a versus movie they would be lying to themselves to ride on the versus movie train and try and garner extra money.

It would be like calling Spiderman 2, Spiderman vs Dr. Octopus.....it is just unnecessary.
