First there was Brokeback Mountain. Hot on the heals of it’s Oscar Buzz Brad Pitt comes out and says he wants a gay role to be his next project. Then the news about the new Adam Sandler project where 2 male firefighters get married, and now it’s gay baseball players.
The good folks over at Empire give us this:
The Dreyfus Affair: A Love Story. The plot in question concerns a married baseball player who falls in love with a fellow player. When word of their romance gets out, scandal inevitably follows. This is not the first time the book has been through the Hollywood development mill, but now with Brokeback leading the way, it has a good chance of finally being made.
Yup, gay is the new formula. Gay cowboys, firefighters and now baseball players. I guarantee you that within the next 3 months we’ll hear about new movies being developed about gay professional wrestlers, gay plumbers, and gay (name the most traditionally “manly” profession you can think of).
Yup… when studios smell “Oscars” they swarm like sharks around whatever the trend may be.
First of all, it is for reasons such as these posts that movies with a Gay theme are being filmed (and appreciated). They provide background and foundation to the proof that Gay people are just like the rest of society and should not be over examined and discriminated against. LOVE IS LOVE, it does not hold prejudice… why should societ? You let stereotypes clog your minds, and have been programed to believe that being different is wrong- when in reality it isn’t. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but until you have legit reasons behind these one-sided views; maybe you should keep you mouths shut. I suggest you look into statisical factors that proove Gays aren’t that different from str8’s and seek more education on the matter before you say such beligerant things about something you know NOTHING about. It is apparent not only gays take it up the ass, Kira, cause your ass is where you misplaced your head.
I nominate Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter to play the 2 homos.
Better yet – let’s cut to the Hollywood chase and see a film about two men who THINK they’re gay, but find themselves wanting Kirsten Dunst and Scarlet Johannsen. Or Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan, if Ashton Kutcher gets to be half of the gay couple.

Anyway, trends suck. Look at what the matrix has done to action movies. Even some of the ones that look semi-interesting I’ve noticed that i’m just passing up because i feel like i’ve seen it before. If you’re a fan of gay dudes and forbidden love now then in 2 years you’ll probably be sick of it. Now forbidden love between two french maids is another story…

I really hate “the big trend” in Hollywood….. it’s one thing if all these gay movies have been just milling around the system but nobody wanted to touch them and Brokeback paved a path for these types of stories to be deemed acceptable…… but if hollywood is just making gay movies to be making gay movies, well that’s just another reason why hollywood is really creatively bankrupt.
