Lost Boys 2

Kiefer-Lost-Boys.jpgThe Lost Boys is one of those all time classics to me. Before the modern big rage of Vampire films and TV shows began, there was Kiefer Sutherland as the coolest damn vampire to ever hit the screen in The Lost Boys. To this day, my favorite all time vampire film. I mean come on… how can you not love a flick with Corey Haim and Corey Feldman??? And holy crap how hot was Jami Gertz in that flick!

But The Lost Boys was finished. There was no open door for a sequel. The story was perfectly told, and if you saw the movie, you know it was concluded. There wasn’t ever any… nor should there have been any, follow up films. Well, it looks like there’s going to be another one now with news of a Direct To DVD sequel: Lost Boys 2. The good folks over at IESB give us this:

While very little is known about the plot or about who will be directing or even who has been cast in the film, we know the story will revolve around surfing vampires in Southern California. Yes, you read that right, surfing vampires. The rumors regarding a sequel have been floating around since the late 80’s and even Joel Schumacher was pitching a sequel idea during the 90’s but to no avail. At one time there was talk of remaking the film and calling it The Lost Girls.

It had also been said that executive producer Richard Donner talked about doing a sequel that would show Edgar and Alan Frog A.K.A. The Frog brothers (Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander in the original film) starting a vampire hunting business that would take them to Washington D.C. Well, looks like those plans didn’t work out but instead we will have surfing vampires hanging 10. Gnarly!

This is just another example of pointlessly called a movie “2” when it really has nothing to do with the first film whatsoever… or at the most has a very thin thread connecting the two story lines. Make no mistake about it international friends… this movie, no matter what they call it, is NOT Lost Boys 2. And to me, there never will be. Why the hell not just call it “Pinocchio 2”? SURFING VAMPIRES????
