New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie Webssite
As most of you know, the new TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) movie is heading our way next month (March 23rd in North America). Personally, I’m not excited about it in the least. I never liked the “Pizza-fart joke-kowabunga Dude” incarnation of the Ninja Turtles. I was always more a fan of the original dark, violent version of them… but oh well… marketing to 12 year olds in more lucrative I suppose, so who can blame them.
When word first came out that they were doing another TMNT project, I got my hopes up that perhaps we were going to see a return to the origins of the Turtles… then the first trailer came out and that hope was shot to hell. But oh well… that’s just my opinion, and I know a lot of you guys are actually looking forward to this flick, so I thought you might be interested in this little bit about the new TMNT movie website. It’s up. Ta Da!!!
Ok, even thought I’m not excited about the movie, I’ll admit I liked the new site. Good looking, not too much clutter, easy to navigate and it loads pretty fast fora flash based site (as a side note, I HATE HATE HATE flash based sites). You can check out the new TMNT website here.

I’m really surprised John hasnt posted about these new Transformers designs yet.

They have movie designs of Starscream, Ironhide, Frenzy and Bonecrusher.
Go ahead and look, Alfie.
You might as well get even more pissed off.
I like ‘em all. Even Starscream, who I’ll admit looks a little like he’s ready to say “Starscream SMASH!”. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again… I love the fact that they’ve been adapted. These designs are great.
Oh, yeah…
TMNT… cool site, cant wait to see it on a saturday at the dollar theatre matinee.
Thanks for the pics Jay, very cool, except for Starscream. To quote Doug,”That looks fuckin’ retarded”
Yeah,
I predict Starscream will be the second biggest disappoint for some of you guys after Megatron. Like I said, even to me he looks a bit… shall we say, Hulk-ish.
I love ‘em all, what can I say.
I pass this video links along to John but I might as well post the links here too since its sort of related. Its a hilarous review for the TMNT III movie from the foul mouth Angry Nintendo Nerd. If you don’t know who the guy is, hes quite well known in the gaming world for his rants on bad old games. Watching it really takes me back to the days when TMNT was big. I can relate to how he feel. Jay i think you are just determined to like anything the transformers team dish out. they look hilarious.
starscream is absolutely terrible – that is officially the worst design I have seen so far – even worse than megatron. sure with megatron they have redesigned him to a point where he actually hurts my eyes to look at due to its pure ugliness that star scream is actually funny. its terrible ….frenzy looks like something from the sw prequels…
let me state again…i didn’t expect blocky ’80’s looking robots. I have never said i want them to look exactly like they did in the cartoon but i wish they in some way resembled transformers. as I have said time and time again these are generic anime wannabe overly complicated boring bots devoid of any personality or style. they look exactly how I imagined robots look in bays head … like totally rad and just fucking X-treme dude.
and please don’t mistake my rants for anger or that I am pissed off. I now find this whole film hilarious. where once I was mad now I am actually getting excited to see this thing. those ugly looking robots walking and talking on screen…with bay directing…that little shot of the boy and girls hands touching…..all and all the simpsons should look out as this is shaping up to be the funniest film of the year. i can’t wait….
as for tmnt I am with john…the trailer just makes this look like the cowabunga kids cartoon….burps and pizza and all that crap….i am sure kids will love it but I am not interested myself…..
You got me, Alfie
I’m just determined to like everything.
It has nothing to do with the fact that I actually DO like it.
It’s just sheer determination. Sheer will power that lets me muscle thorough these horrible designs.
I mean, how could anyone actually like these things. What kind of mental deffeciancy would allow someone to appreciate the asthetics of these laughable, over designed pieces of emotionless crap.
Well…
I’m sad to say I do suffer from a rare disease.
You may not have heard of it as it hasnt found it’s way into the medical journals yet. It’s called Transformalikealotis. It affects the neural pathways that determine judgement and taste. Specifically those areas related to robot design and film related evaluation. I’m sorry to have to inform you of this, but as of today, there is no cure. As a result, I find myself compelled to appreaciate and desire the more realistic take on robot design that Michael Bay and ILM have adopted. I can not contain my enthusiasm. I have a disease, you see. As a side effect, it makes me realize how improbable the cartoon transformations really were. I find my self seeing character in designs that, as you put it, are so obviously devoid of it. It actually hurts my eyes to look away from them so therefore I have created a wallpaper for my desktop of my own design consisting of images of robots from the movie. I also find myself completely devoid of any sympathy for people who say phrases like “These things aren’t Transformers” and “Michael Bay was a horrible choice”. It strangly has no effect on my viewing pleasure.
I wish I knew how to quit these robots.
…but alas, I do love them so.
The only comfort that I find in all this is the knowledge that on the July 7th weekend I am going to have a kick-ass time at the movies. I know, I know… “kick ass” is too extreme and rad for your tastes and sensibilities, but somehow, it is exactly what I want from a movie about giant transforming robots from outer space. It’s the disease, man. I just think that the direction Bay has taken is perfect for the material. I cant help myself.
Ya know…
Even if there was a cure, I dont think I would take it. I’m having too much fun. I wouldnt want to be bitter and resentful. I wouldnt want to laugh condescendingly at something to hide my immense feelings of disappointment and disgust. I like the way it makes me feel.
To summarize –
Look of robots.
Disease.
Cant help myself.
Love it.
Peace and chicken grease, my brother from another mother.
oh jay my opening line was a joke….i was teasing .you have said that to me on a number of times that I am just determined to hate this film no matter what….i was you know having you on……
I totally believe you love these designs…i completely believe you can’t wait to see the changebots film….and I am very worried about the level of disappointment i fear you are going to be hit with when you walk of the theatre and you turn to whoever you are with and say
“that was nowhere near as good as I thought it would be – optimus and megatron never fought each other until the last 5 minutes and they focused way too much on the humans. bay really is a bad storyteller. the action was great but wow i never thought i would say this but i was totally bored by seeing robots fight. it must have been due to the fact that everything else surrounding said action was so absolutely lousy that i stopped caring. wow alfie was totally right. i have to go straight home get on the computer and let him know how right he was. i don’t think i will ever disagree with him again as he obviously is the holder of some ancient wisdom thats just beyond my grasp. perhaps he can teach me to be as cynical and jaded as he is.”
lets make a deal jay. lets go and see it opening day. tell each other the time and try to tee it up that we watch it at the same time and then reconvene here to discuss.
Fuck I love the Turtles….
I was just jokin’ back at’cha.
No hard feelings brother. I know you were just playin’ around.
I figured naming the disease “Transformalikealotis” and saying “I wish I knew how to quit these robots” would be your first clue that I was just being a jackass.
And I swear to you, If the phrase “Alfie was right. I have to go straight home, get on the computer and let him know how right he was” crosses my mind, I’ll put a hundred dollar bill in an envelope and mail it to you. I’d have to do it because of how ashamed I would feel. It would be a lesson to myself to never get so excited about a movie again. Criminey! If the Transformers movie doesnt leave me in a euphoric daze, I think I might have to rethink this whole optimist thing.
Like I said in the Indiana Jones start date post, I now know how you feel when you say “I think you guys are setting yourself up for a big disappointment”. That point of view is much, much clearer when you experience it for yourself.
Honestly, My plans are to see it on Sunday afternoon. My friend Matt and his girl Karen are gonna go see it with us. The wife doesnt know it yet but she’ll be going with me to see it again the following weekend. Oh she will, by God. She’ll be there with bells on. Dont tell her I said that though, she’d kill me.
So anyway, I wont be able to have that discussion until Sunday night, but I’m up for it.
Actually, I might just have to skip out on work and go see it early afternoon on friday. Damn this uncontrollable anticipation. I’ll have to let you know. I hate crowds, but I dont know if I can wait.
Shit. I’ll let you know.
to be honest jay I probably won’t see it opening day but definitely opening weekend…..my wife actually wants to see it more than I do so we shall be going that weekend I am sure..I am getting really excited about now…..is it a trainwreck or a highway pile up? will it be poo’s or wee’s?? does it suck or does it blow??? is it terrible or awful???
there are just so many ways it could go..the anticipation is killing me…
I would imagine that could be very frustrating.
“poo’s or wee’s”… priceless.
At least you’re keeping an open mind. I cant fault you for that.
I mean, It’s bound to be one or the other.
