Rise: Blood Hunter Trailer and Website online
GhostHouse pictures has launched the official website for their newest horror flick Rise:Blood Hunter which will be shown at this years Tribeca Film Festival.
Bloody Disgusting describes it as:
Rise is a supernatural thriller in which a reporter (Liu) wakes up in a morgue to discover she is no longer among the living. She vows revenge against the cult responsible for putting her there and hunts them down one by one.
Sounds like a pretty standard “raise from the dead and get revenge on your killers” kind of movie. I hope that there is something original about this take. Lucy Lui looks to add a good layer of heart to an otherwise typical slasher supernatural revenge flick littered with sex, violence, and appropriate use of lingerie.

Oi! Does this look bad. Even more embarassing for all involved the those pair of Underworld movies. Yeech..
I don’t know what it is with Lucy that she can’t get a break…..actually, I do. She’s typecast as hell, partly due to her role choices, and partly because of her race. I know we’ve had racial rants on this site before, and I’m gonna do a preemptive strike to say that I’m not trying to stir up shit, but it’s a fact that Asians are typecast in Hollywood. Think about it, every Asian you see in a movie is either a martial artist or a math whiz. Can you name five Asian Hollywood A-listers? I don’t think Michelle Yeoh and Zhang Ziyi are A-listers in America. The only Asian stars that are household names are Jackie Chan and, to a lesser degree, Jet Li, and even their roles are stereotyped. And the guy from Heroes, but I don’t know his name.
Damn, is she ever beautiful. Sure, this movie might turn out to be crap, but she’s worth the price of admission.
yeah, she is fuckn sexy.. i’d watch it jus for her.. :D
It looks a little lame and “done” but I’m willing to give it a chance but I have to agree, I hope it’s a *little* original.
The trailer is borring as hell, looks just at strait to DVD status. But I so like the music in it. ;p
I’m not a fan of Lu either, just her Kill Bill role and even it I thought wasn’t that great as far as her acting or her lines, was more her actions that made her character so cool and the anime squince about her past.
I’ll pass on this one. Might see it some night late on Cinamax if nothing else is on.
