Your First Look At Iron Man

By John Campea - May 2, 2007 - 10:52 America/Montreal

We saw the Iron Man Mark 1 shot the other day… but from the pages of Entertainment Weekly comes this first official look at the design of the true Iron Man outfit to be showcased in the Iron Man film. What do you think? (Thanks to Nick for the heads up)

You know, I have never been a big Iron Man fan, leaning more towards Power Man and Iron Fist ;). IN all the one thing that has me most excited about seeing this comic book adaptation is Robert Downey Jr. As messed up as the brother gets, he is one fantastic actor.

Second to that is a man in an exoskeleton blowing shit up. I am glad they didn’t “over-muscle” the suit.

  2. Ethan says:

    AWSOOOME!

I am so excited for Iron Man. The direction the movie is going in seams CRAZY. My only complaint is the Mandarin. I never knew much about him so does he fight Iron Man or do his minions?

Other than that the suit looks like it was chiseled by a god!
I cannot wait to see this movie

  3. gerard says:

    that looks really cool!

  4. Marina says:

Wow. I’m not familiar with the comic book but even I’m impressed by that picture.

  5. Kaneda979 says:

WOW, just awesome. Was so worried the suit would look too Power Rangerish. So happy that wont be the case. It looks pretty damn close to the comic version, but with just a touch of a modern flair. I just love it. Can’t wait for this movie, WOOT! >_WOW, just awesome. 7. Fearhurst says:

I know very little about Iron Man, but think this suit looks amazing. I can’t help but picture it all scratched and beat up after a big fight.

  8. melbye says:

That looks fantstic. I am getting more and more pumped with this movie

  9. Jonathan says:

    That looks awesome.

  10. dublin_sullivan says:

im kinda worried itll look like that shaq flick steel. i dont want to see him lumbering around hitting things. the iron man i want to see is a guy wrapped in a fighter jet. im looking for aerial action and i dont know if im gonna get it. i can but wait and see.

  11. doug nagy says:

    This is wicked

  12. Phil Gee says:

Oh man, ‘Steel’; i have to see that one again. What a funky film! I have no investment in Iron Man as a character. I’ve read very little of him, but the film is looking lovely. I’m very curious as to how they will handle Mandarin.

  13. shane razey says:

    Very, Very cool.

  14. Kristina says:

I’m clueless about Iron Man, but I guess that looks okay. Is it supposed to look like that, or did they alter it from the comics? I’m depending on you guys. I’m not a comic-book gal.

  15. Viddy says:

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!! It looks cool as hell!!

They nailed it for me….Whatever that means.

  16. Alfredo says:

Whoa whoa whoa!! Are you sure that’s from the movie and not the comic? Because That is really FUCKING awesome! If that’s real I am excited about the movie.

  17. simon says:

I will be right back I am going to go jerk off to that photo.

  18. Christian says:

That suit definitely looks awesome. Now if they can remake the Robocop suit using the same sleek style.

  19. Joseph Ferrarelli says:

I actually really like the look. It has all the traditional style yet looks a tad more realistic.

  20. Pokimac says:

Wow, It looks like something that a person could actually wear.

  21. JaySmack says:

The design is kick-ass! This robot looks a hell of a lot better than the giant metal bugs in that Michael Bay movie. Think I’ll save my money to see this flick instead. At least Favreau is trying to get his movie right.

  22. CJ says:

Wonderful, excellent. I’m looking forward to see this as soon as it comes out.

  23. Jack908 says:

    looks pretty good to me

  24. vijay says:

    Boo Hoooo Hoooo!!!

    These are tears of joy.

  25. @spence says:

    nice……

  26. Jay says:

I believe this just might be the greatest comics to film translation I have ever seen. Spiderman and Batman are great translations, but this just oozes awesomeness.

    That is frickin’ perfect.

I was worried it was gonna go the Robocop route and be too bulky.
(Dont get me wrong, I love Robocop. Bulky works fior Robocop)
I see now that those fears were without merit, because obviously Favs realizes that the Adi Granov style suit is the best looking Armour of all time.

Pardon the geek cliche, but I may have to touch myself in that oh so private way to this pixture later on.

    Jon Favreau,
    You are the man!
Thank you, thank you, thank you… thank you so much for getting this right.

  27. Salem says:

I think it looks perfect! Exactly the way it’s done in the modern comic version of the suit. One thing I don’t like (though I can live with) is the legs. They seem too…boxy, if that makes any sense. Gives me that 80s RoboCop feeling. But other than that, the upper part of the armor looks fucking awesome!

  28. Well, we seen the prototype, seen the centerpiece glowing through a shirt, we have a terrifically talented cast. Now art that suggests where the final armor (for this film) will look like.

It’s time to get a advance teaser trailer out to the public; it’s time to stake out a release date. We think it will be a warzone this year with Spidey, The Pirates and Potter? Next year it’s Shellhead vs. Bats. We haven’t seen anything yet.

  29. Vix says:

Wow! That is a good design. I wonder how Robert Downey Jr. is going to breathe in it though…

  30. Malachy says:

Oh man! That looks great! I’m excited more every day!
