More Info on Mike Myers “The Love Guru”

Ok, up until this point I haven’t really know much about this new upcoming Mike Myers project. I dig Myers a lot, mostly because he’s a major Toronto Maple Leafs fan. However, I’ve been a major fan of his ever since “So I Married An Axe Murderer”, the most classic comedy that no one ever mentions as a classic.

Well, looks like Jessica Alba has signed up for “The Love Guru” with Myers as well, and more information about the idea and plot of the film have come out:

The Paramount film, which marks Myers’ first original character since Austin Powers, will begin shooting next month in Toronto. It is slotted for a June 20 release. Myers will play Pitka, an American who was left at the gates of an ashram in India as a child and raised by gurus. He moves back to the U.S. to seek fame and fortune in the world of self-help and spirituality, specializing in settling intimacy issues between couples.

His unorthodox methods are put to the test when he must settle a rift between star hockey player Darren Roanoke (Malco) and his estranged wife. After the split, Roanoke’s wife starts dating the star member of a rival team, sending her husband into a major professional skid — to the horror of the team’s owner, Jane Bullard (Alba), and Coach Cherkov (Troyer).

I haven’t disliked a Mike Myers film yet (the Shrek films don’t count), so until proven otherwise… sign me up!

Astute comment on So…I Married an Axe Murderer. Absolutely love the Alan Arkin cameo in that flick. Priceless.

I’m not sold yet. I need to see a trailer for this.

i like the Austin Powers flicks to varying degrees, but the last decent role Myers had was as the club owner in 54.
Alba seems to know she cannot act,so i’m guessing she’s doing as many films as possible to make some bank while the clock ticks against her purty ass.

This flick sounds a little too much like “The Guru” and that other one with Eddie Murphy (I think it was called “G”). Even with a somewhat attractive actress like Alba, this movie will BOMB!
