  1. Michael says:

Oh my god, your impression of Bourne 2 was hilarious!

I caught this movie this afternoon and really thought it kicked ass. I think that if this movie does well enough we might see another one no matter what they’re saying now.

  2. C.J. says:

Nice take on “Bourne:Supremacy”, John. I concur.

  3. I just got done seeing it. It was ten times better than I thought it would be. The best action sequence I’ve seen in years- with Morocco cops chasing Bourne, who is chasing an assassin who is after Nicky (the still stale Julia Stiles, who transforms into a semi- hotness when she dies her hair) and then the smackdown…

Also for the first time, I warmed up to Damon as Bourne. In past films, I was never convinced and thought he was miscast. Now I buy him. Funny, huh?

    9 out 10

  4. Sir Jig-A-Lot says:

this shit rocked my socks off! finally a trilogy that hasnt fallen on its face in the third installment. a trend which started with Blade:Trinity back in 05. it was a damn great thrill ride. i agree with Seeley & Campea,it was fucking Routh. go & watch it peeps.

  5. Mofo Toshio says:

First off, liked the review and agree (and on a side note, at the risk of sounding cliche, the Bourne Supremacy gag was a hoot). I do, however, remain confused as to some of what u say in this video. First, u call this the first good three-quel of the summer. Odd, since I thought u enjoyed Ocean’s 13. Also, I should probably remind u that this is NOT the last three-quel this summer as u also mentioned. That would mean forgetting Rush Hour 3. I don’t mean to nitpick but feel that this needed to be cleared up.

  6. John Campea says:

    Hey Mofo,

No, you misunderstood me. I didn’t say this was the last threequel… I said that this was the last Bourne. I can see how you misunderstood me, I wasn’t totally clear.

    And yes, you’re right… I forgot about Ocean’s.

  7. Sir Jig-A-Lot says:

Pirates & Ocean’s should have stopped on the first movie.
& yes, i know Davey Jones looked cool, butt even he could not save Pirates 2.
Campea – as hilarious as i found your camera shakage at the start of your review, Bourne Supremacy’s action wasn’t that bad. think of it as Greengrass’ bad homage to Liman’s action in the first movie. at least he found his own action chops in Ultimatum.

  8. Joseph Ferrarelli says:

I gotta be honest John. The camera was just as bad as in the second one. And the ending is a little Anti-Climactic. But otherwise a solid film.

  9. Goon says:

the camera is just as shaky in Bourne Ultimatum as is in Supremacy. the important thing is Greengrass uses this technique in every scene, its not just an excuse to hide that you cant fight or properly show action.

How in the holy hell you can have a problem though, with Bourne Supremacy, but ignore the absolutely awful use of shaky cam by Michael Bay in Transformers during the most important parts, is just insane. Bay uses shaky cam because he cant direct, Greengrass uses it in United 93 and the Bourne films because thats his style to create tension in both action and very simple character confrontations.

  10. ace1972 says:

I just got back from seeing the movie and even though I enjoyed the movie alot, I don’t know if it was the NY fries or the movie but I almost had to leave a couple of times because I thought I was going to be sick.

  11. Eaglewing says:

Well, this review gives me a little bit of hope. After really liking the first one, and totally hating the second, I had no hope for this. I’m still dreading shaky cam on steroids (John’s impression nailed it), but I might have to give it a chance.

  12. Sir Jig-A-Lot says:

right enough Goon. Bay’s shakycam in Transformers was total shite. i knew something bugged me about the final fight..

  13. #007# says:

Yes, I saw it last night, boy was I thrilled. Just get over the shaky cam stuff and watch this movie. That technique is implemented to create paranoia and tension. It does work.

I have to say this TRILOGY is a success and it rocks! 94% on tomatoes can’t be all misleading. This stuff is for real.

  14. Stormy70 says:

I want to see this, but I am waiting for the DVD. I hate shaky cam action scenes. They make me a little nauseous and it sounds like the latest “it” thing in movie-making. Like the washed out sepia and blue movie color tones, I hope this one falls by the wayside.

I really liked the previous Bournes, but once my husband and I both read about the shaky camera scenes, we both said, “We’re out.” I don’t think the shaky camera adds tension, but removes the film goer from the film.

  15. DarkKinger says:

Ah, the shaking camera. The Dark Knight better fix that.

  16. Chris says:

the shaking cam is used well but it does tend to get annoying by the 3nd hour of the film when you just want some scenes to use a nice smooth camera.

otherwise one of the best movies of the summer and a really strong story for the third of a trilogy.

  17. JOE says:

This movie was awesome but John since Im seeing you give these reviews do not waste your time watching Hot Rod I walked out in 20 minutes. It was just not funny.

  18. Butter On My Popcorn says:

Not going to see another Bourne??? So did you just imply that he dies in the movie?

  19. John Campea says:

    Hey Butter On My Popcorn,

No, honestly I’m not implying anything. They announced some time ago that there wasn’t going to be a part 4.

  20. Kristina says:

Shit, after the bank this movie pulled this weekend, you know they’ll go for #4. Watch.

  21. #007# says:

Hey Kristina, you watch, there is no part 4, since Matt has said NO. I feel it should end here as well. If there is, then it would be someone else.

Well on the other spectrum, there are those cash hungry cows like at Sony where they will find ways to churn more turd from Spidey Shit 3.

  22. Naught says:

They will make it without Matt, trust.
The movie’s only coming next month over here, not fair! And Julia Styles in Bourne does the same thing Dunst does for Spiderman.

  23. Kevin C says:

I saw this last night and thought it was the best of the trilogy. The shaky cam was at its worst in the beginning, but either A. it calms down or B. you get used to it. Either way, by the second half I didnt even notice it.

The ending was the best ending for the franchise bar none. The smile, the music, awesome. Anyway, I personally love this franchise and Matt Damon is great in all of them.

    9/10 for me.

  24. This next movie in the Bourne series is the best of all the three films. Action and Thriller mixed into one heart-pumping adrenaline rush, cat and mouse chase story that gets the audiences holding on to their seat, excited and curious about whats going to happen on the next scene and the next one, the one after. Youd go out of the theater saying, Wow! That was cool! Even the shaky camera method that Director Paul Greengrass likes to use just brings up the coolness even more.

Matt Damon has outdone himself with this performance. Many people who think that Bourne movies are not all that of an action thriller will now have to correct their criticism. The movie Zodiac earlier this year was a psychological thriller that brought us the difficulty of figuring out a serial killer, whereas The Bourne Ultimatum is a fast-paced thriller that involves espionage, politics, and the question of how far the government is willing keep their secrets hidden

This movie even has a great car chase scene.
The reason why I find Bruce Willis movie Live Free or Die Hard more entertaining, because the character John McLane has more humor than Jason Bourne who tends to be serious most of the time and has a damn good reason to be.
If youre looking to find an awesome time at the movies this summer, a movie that you can watch with family and friends without worrying what may or may not be appropriate for certain ages, then THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM is definitely a must see.

  25. GODFATHER says:

I truly enjoyed Ultimatum, but I disagree with the remarks about the shaky cam being a lot better than in Supremacy. I think it’s just as bad. The movie seems to fit the story, and it ties things up well, but the Identity is still better, IMO. Ultimatum seemed to stretch a little, but then, what action movie doesn’t these days?

    I’d rate it a 7.5/10.

  26. TAKATA says:

i just have to agreed whith the others(goon and sir jig a lot).
complain about shake camera in the bourne supremacy and say its a mediun movie, and defend the action sequences saying its a amazing action film in that abortion called transformers its just absurd!!!
i now its a question of point of view!well…!
but i dont now how someone could praise a weak movie like transformers and say that bourne supremacy its just a watcheable movie.
i dont agreed whith campea in boves opinions!

  27. mixmastajb says:

Say John, how come you only sometimes do the “No, Go, or rouths” now when you give your reviews.

  28. Paul Brown says:

Shakey cam is terrible all the time. I hate it All The Time! It just reminds me that I’m watching a movie and that the person can’t direct!

  29. jordan barrie says:

This movie sold me john it was the best movie of the summer the best of the 3. I was like you i liked identity I though it was very entertaing spy thriller and what i first watch it i though wow i didn’t know matt damon coud do that kind of stuff. than when supremacy came i though i was ok but there was something i just didn’t like about it than Collateral come out week lather and i though i wish supremacy was like this. now that Ultimatum is out it was sold that sean in Morocco was the best action seen i have seen in years. I just hope matt samed has a future after that because the boune movies and last years the depared has proven he is an actor.

  30. wan king says:

Great movie, but so many unexplained over the top situaions like him hotwiring a brand new Audi, which everyone knows is completely impossible…
infact showing a guy hotwiring a modern car is just plain tacky…
he should have just been showin crack jacking a car.

  31. keith says:

i hope ther isnt a fouth bourne film. john. i though u said in ur review that the director has actully taken the camera a step back and let us seen the action etc. what film did u see . cause it wasnt bourne ultimatum. that fight in the house with bourne and the guy after nicky was crap. the dircetor mght aswell have just strapped the frigin camera to actors legs and just let then get on with . cause what i seen was just a set of legs and arms movig about a bit. christ i though to myself when i was watchin it. jesus lets c the fuckin thing. basically the bourne ultimatum want no wee near the film i was hoping it would b. theere wa some good bits in in defenitly. the train station bit with the phones . and other bits here and there . but basically film had no danger. no tension.this was another TRANSFORMERS for me . bit of a waste of time.
