Matthew Vaughn on Thor’s Skirt

By Rodney - September 18, 2007 - 13:03 America/Montreal

Thor is one of those characters that remind you exactly how different the world of comics was 40 years ago. Despite the common physical traits of the norse god, the long flowing blonde hair and skirt just doesn’t cut it in today’s world. So as Matthew Vaughn talks about taking on the project, he assures us that Thor is in good hands.

Empire Online reports:

“Marvel were so surprised to see this other side of me with Stardust,” recalls Matthew Vaughn of his initial meeting to discuss his vision for the God of Thunder. “They actually said to me, ‘You are going to make Thor more macho? Right?’ Well, don’t worry – Thor’s not going to be wearing a dress”.

As long as they don’t put him in a latex armoured body suit with nipples and oversize cod piece.

Ok, the God of Thunder can have an oversize cod piece.

As with any superhero film, I do hope that it goes well. Get a guy with actual muscles to play the part. Don’t put him in spandex, and if tastefully done it could even have the flowing blond hair with real potential for product placement for shampoo companies.

I respect Vaughn alot, from what i hear he made stardust a fucking gem, and really people this is the same guy who directed Layer Cake… badass.

  2. TM says:

I wonder how Doug Nagy is going to take this news…

  3. Mozzerino says:

I still don’t have a clue how they can pull off a “Thor”-movie without making it look beyond silly. In my opinion, it just can’t be done. Some comics aren’t meant to be films and this is one of them.
But hey, I may be wrong. Let’s see what happens.

If the boys from 300 can march around in diapers, and the guys from Braveheart can fight in kilts, then why can’t this guy have his skirt?

  5. Rafael says:

I call dibbs on the wind machine that makes his beautiful blonde hair dance in the air.
