Obviously they KNOW what is attacking them and are quite familiar with it, because they're surprised it (whatever "it" is) is alive...as if somehow "it" wouldn't be. So IF this is a foreign type of monster...that line would make no sense. I just hope we actually find out what "it" is and we actually get some shots of it, instead of just outlines/shapes/blurs. But i still think it's going to be the next 'snakes on a plane' and it's getting nowhere near the same amount of buzz. On a side note, Cloverfield sounds like a brand of butter to anyone in the UK. If it's supposed to be a classic monster movie, give it a classic monster title. I would suggest "Aaaaah real monsters" but i believe that was a cartoon once.
