I should of been more specific, it does appear that I was making fun of everyone in the crowd. I should of said something to the effect of this

"a select few self important douche bags that ruin it for everyone else"

Let it be said that self important douchebags at least shut up during the movie; unlike the selfish and unwashed mouthbreathers that seem to enjoy yelling about their domestic issues once everyone has settled comfortably in their seats.

But thank you for bringing this to my attention Kurt.

Sorry my mistake...Doug wrote that. same applies though, that quote is silly and more than a bit wrong. Why can't normal folks go to the cumberland theatre without being labelled a douche!

"I have to drive to Toronto or another city that is playing the film and sit around pompous self important douche-bags. "

It's lines like that that highlight your biases and prejudices John. I'm sure I'd be called out if I said when I went to see Transformers I was sitting beside mouth breathers and retards. I think both statements are a bit reductive and divisive.

Still, Ed Burns is a total wanker if he think just because his little sub-standard art-house fare cannot get a distribution that THE ENTIRE ARTHOUSE is dead!!! WTF? Explain things like the large box office for something like Pan's Labyrinth, No Country for Old Men (make no mistake this is an art film, not a blockbuster), Waitress, Paris Je T'Aime. Look at Brokeback Mountain a couple of years ago! Burns is on Crack.

Kudos to him for going a different route, and getting it to the internet. The downside is the ridiculous price point and the fact I can't get it in Canada 'cause iTunes Canada is behind the times and without movies.

I agree though that this is the future for indy film, and maybe even some mainstream. Watching box office reports the last couple years, it's evident the only demographic still going to the theatres en masse are the Wild Hogs and Pirates crowds. A different approach is needed for this type of movie to have any chance at success. Just get it below 10 bucks at least.

Arrrgghhh! This is bad news for me, I use Linux and can't get iTunes. Hopefully this experiment will be successful and branch off to other download sites.

It's a great idea, the only problem is th $15 price tag for a movie no one's seen. If they can rig up some kind of self-destructing format and price it at 5-10 they'll be onto something.
Incidentally, I loved Soderberg's similar experiment "Bubble", one of my favorite pictures of last year.
