Helen McCrory cast as Narcissa Malfoy in Half Blood Prince
This is a couple days old, but it’s still pretty cool news for me. See I am one of those slackers who refused to stand in line at midnight to buy a copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. So for me, I just FINISHED the last book today. Not kidding. Today.
The character of Narcissa Malfoy appeared in one of the earlier books, but her presence there was merely armcandy in a scene that didnt make it into The Goblet of Fire anyways. However, Cissy does play a bigger role in Half Blood Prince and even moreso in Deathly Hallows. So recently we found out who was going to play Narcissa Malfoy in the next Harry Potter film.

Narcissa, who is mother to Draco (Tom Felton), wife to Lucius (Jason Isaacs) and cousin to Sirius Black (Gary Oldman) features prominently in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince — the novel — and so she will be making her cinematic introduction in the movie version. Now the name has come up before in relation to the Potter movies since she was originally to play Bellatrix Lestrange (Narcissa’s sister) but was then passed over to the rather quirky and mostly insane character actor Helena Bonham Carter.
I am looking forward to seeing Helen McCrory take on the role. Its more suitable for her and is more empathic and predominate than Bellatrix in the coming volumes anyways.
eh. I was rooting for Naomi Watts, but oh well.

Stupid, stupid David Yates. Burn the bastard for ruining Narcissa Malfoy and casting the most horrible and ugly actress for her role. Narcissa should be pretty and BLONDE!Complete disappointment. Bring back Columbus, or Newell or anyone that would actually be able to make a good movie. Sorry for the rent but God, why is he ruining the movie?
Hey there T, sorry to put a damper on your piss parade there, but I thought I would let you know about a great new special effect they have been trying out in Hollywood…. Its called hair dye and it makes people of ALL SORTS of hair colours appear as if they had hair of a DIFFERENT colour. Even actractive sorts like Helen McCrory can look like they too have blond hair! Its amazing.
I don’t see how the original colour of an actress’ hair is really the breaking point of a quality of a whole movie.
