I absolutely LOVED Across the Universe. Best musical ever! I think whatever Jim Sturgess is in would be fantastic. I think they should go for it!!!

I grew up with the Beatles and if you really listen to the music in “Across the Universe” and then listen to the Beatles version, the Beatles version sounds empty and I still love them, but music is music. I believe Julie Taymor will be brilliant as always with this play…

I personally think Across the Universe was….BRILLIANT!
It was such an amazing film, to go through the music and create different versions and adding in actors/actress’s that nodoby really know, was quite a risk, but let me tell you Julie Taymor has pulled it off.
Shes amazing.
And even though I live in Chicago, i honestly will be attending the Spiderman show if it has Jim & Evan as the leading roles.

don’t forget that there was a superman musical. i’ve never seen it, but i’ve heard some of the songs.

i think those two would make for a great peter parker and mary jane, musical or not.

The thing that I hated about it was that the whole movie was just an excuse for people to belt out convenient Beatles songs. Good musicals use the songs to enhance the story. This thing was just a TON of singing with a paper-thin plot. The movie had 33 damn songs in it. With all that singing, there is no time for an actual story to be told. A couple of the numbers are cool, but most of it is crap. I was dying to get the holy hell outta there.

Across the Universe SUCKED. HARD. And I love musicals, but God, that thing was painful to sit through, and I’d really been looking forward to it.
