Pitch Black was amazing in it's own right yes, but if Chronicles of Riddick couldn't keep you awake nothing short of getting shot at in Iraq is going to excite you. I mean no offense to the author by any means, I'm sure she's a great person. I just don't think she gave a fair chance to such an amazing film. It gave excellent closure to Pitch Black and at the same time, gave an excellent, and possibly exciting direction for Riddick to head in. The only thing disappointing in the film was that Kyra died. I thought the whole concept of the universes deadliest man, who was unstoppable by any force, whether that be man beast or nature, being humbled by a female, albeit a very attractive one, quite entertaining. I definitely think that were she to have survived the whole ordeal that it would have given the writers many more directions to head with the film. So long as they didn't go the cheesy Hollywood route of dropping all of the main characters from the film and making a movie about the child of the previous films characters, which is almost always corny. As long as they keep Vin Diesel in the series though I'll continue buying the movies. He is not only one of the greatest action actors of today, he's probably the only person who could have pulled off the role of Riddick without seeming ridiculous, corny, or boring. Riddick is our generations Rambo, and if they produce a third installment in the series, it will definitely be a trilogy our generations children will watch and enjoy just as much as we do. But i own the DVD and wish I had seen it in theatres. I have seen this thing like 20 times. I want to know what happens next. Pitch black was a good movie but it didnt compare to the third. and the second one was too short and i could have done with out it being animated. but getting to the point...... I have seen way too many "creatures from out space" movies. I think that theme is really boring now. We`ve been making movies about that every since film industury started. Can we evolve abit, please. Riddick has a story... a past... and a future to tell & I wish we could learn more about Riddick (i.e. his special forces background in furion, and how he became who he is). He is a sci-fi brutal warrior... now that is cool. So, expose more of Riddick and how bad of a bad ass is he. That`s the way to go about it.
