Victor Salva to Direct ‘Jeepers Creepers 3′
Hey guys! I’m glad to be back writing for the recently resurrected movie blog again. While John and Doug are in San Francisco, I thought I’d get the ball rolling with news posts and get you guys caught up with your movie news routine. :) (Yes, I have to start with a horror post. It’s just expected at this point!)
Last week it was announced that ‘Jeepers Creepers 3′ was indeed going into production, and that Victor Salva (writer/director of the previous installments) has in fact signed on to write and direct the third installment.
Moviehole gives us this: Rumours that a “Jeepers Creepers 3” is happening, and possibly going to direct to DVD, have been confirmed by the abovementioned interweb portals. Writing and Directing is Victor Salva-previously rumoured to only be writing-helmer of the original frightfest.
Every time there’s Jeepers Creepers news, I always feel excited and guilty at the same time. I find it hard to support Victor Salva, (who was a convicted child molester) and it always feel weird to promote his movies since finding out about his disgusting past. Although, just like how I feel about Michael Jackson, I can’t deny the fact the man is talented when it comes to what he does. (Which pisses me off even more!)
I enjoyed the original ‘Jeepers Creepers’ very much, but the sequel, although well shot, was not an enjoyable film at all. (Except when it came down to watching and making fun of the very “heterosexual” football players tan on the bus or pee together in a field)
I think the best thing to do is to make this a direct to DVD sequel. (Since direct to DVD horror sequels seem to be flourishing right now) However, considering how well the second film did at the box office, I would expect seeing a theatrical release of this unnecessary sequel.
What are your thoughts on this matter?

I think posting while the boys are away on their secret mission in happyfunandgay-land is an abomination. Don’t jinx it!
Although the first film was way better than the second I did enjoy Ray Wise and his harpoon truck.
I would love to see this as a theatrical release. Nothing better than a fright in a hopefully “crowded” theater.
The first 40 minutes of the first rocked. The second one was entertaining but instantly forgettable.
Good Luck with the third one.
BTW – Hi, Serena! Great to see you on the job again!
yay! you guys are back. happy day!!!!:)
ahem back to topic at hand..loved the first one! second one meh..but curiosity will drive me to see the third.
Jepers Creepers 3: The Creeper In The Playground.
I loved the first Creepers, second one sucked.
I’ll check the 3rd one out if it gets positive reviews. Direct to dvd movies more than lighty suck most of the time.
the difference is michael jackson was never convicted
Great post Serena.
As dumb as this sounds, I missed this site. Everything feels right again.
Hey guys!
Thanks Lou and calviin for your comments! I agree with you Lou about the first 40 minutes, once that wing came after Trish had run over the creeper 6 times, I was like ‘WTF?!” lol I will be posting a lot more when I get home today….just want to get you guys caught up before the new changes on the site :)
Serena – Good to know you will be posting more!
Hope some of those posts deal with Darabont’s – The Mist movie which is getting rave reviews so far.
Never seen any of the dude’s movies – won’t support the guy, period.
I really liked the first one and not so much the second as well. Just like everyone here. I’m not too hopeful of the third though.
@11Why not – did he steal your lunch money or something?
OMG – that means you’ve never seen Shawshank or The Green Mile! You poor soul.
i liked the first alot, second one was definetaly mediocre, but im confused with this one…..according to the story of the creature (i might be wrong), doesnt it come every 20-22 years, and feeds for 2 days??? and the first 2 movies took place in those 2 days right??, so wouldnt the 3rd one have to take place 20-22 years in the future to go along with the story??? like i said i might be wrong, but damn wouldnt that be great pull a jason x and have the creeper in SPACE!!! oh god i hope that doesnt happen….
I’ve never seen a Salva movie I liked, so it makes it that much easier to not support the child-molester’s movie career.
The first movie was ok. But when I found out what he did… no I’ll pass. The man got his jollies not just molesting kids (true Salva was only conviced on one kid – but lets be honest here, there were probably more), he video taped for later viewings. Sick bastard that fucked up lives. He didn’t even serve his full sentence. Yes I know that on good behavior, you get paroled sooner. But he only got three years! In the real – better world; the guy would get an invite to a house in Canada. The home of Mr. Nagy and have him beat the shit out of him live on streaming video. I would pay to see that. No. I will not be supporting his film career.
Okay Serena, try this one on for size. The first Jeepers Creepers was an art film. Yep, I said it, an art film. My reasons?
The creature stands for Victor Salva’s addiction or disease (as he would view it), his attraction to young boys. The monster keeps the body’s of his victims to reminiscence, just like Salva videotaped his victim.
The psychic stands for Psychology or Psychologists. She can’t stop the monster just like psychology couldn’t help Salva.
The police stand for incarceration. Basically, the police can’t stop the monster…and in Salva’s case, jail can’t stop his desire or “monster”.
And finally, at the end of the movie, the creature has the choice of taking the boy or the girl, and anyone who’s seen the movie knows which one he picks.
Remember, by “Art Film” I just mean a film where the writer/director writes a very personal story. I didn’t really care for the movie or Victor Salva and the similarity’s between movie and Salva gives me the heebie jeebie’s.
i remember hearing that the third was once going to be a western. sort of a prequal.
I agree with the above…either it has to pick up 23 yrs into the future, or, it has to be about the events 23 yrs prior (or 23 yrs prior to that? 23 before…23 before…?) …but considering that the past two films were under the UA banner? I don’t see why this has to go right to DVD. UA could use a horror franchise/the continution of one already established.
I for one was not only surprised on how good the first Creepers was, but unlike everyone else, I liked the sequel too…to a point, anyway.
to GP: That’s an interesting point. Anyone recall Salva’s first film after getting out of the joint? If you want subtext, look no further than Powder.
OMG i loved the 2 other films there were genius !
the first one was the best for being a proper horor but the second one was more of a comedy it really made me n my friends laugh lol
il be getting it straight away wen it comes out i thought it was comng out the end of last year which i was quite excied about but im sure i can wait a lil while longer lol
CANT WAIT !!!
I the first one, I was always curious as to how the Creeper went about getting vanity plaits and gassing up his truck.
I watch and own alot of horror movies and there are only a few that actually have an impact on how i feel when im all alone out in the country and jeepers creepers 1 and 2 both did a good job with that.
To the people that keep sayin the creeper only feeds for 2 days it clearly says in both films 23 days every 23 years, not 2 mention the first fim lasted like 3 days and the 2nd film lasted like 2
In my opinion the first movie was very, very good, and the second was amazing, all the action and fight scenes in the 2nd movie were epic, so what if there was very little blood, i mean horror movies dont have to be bloody, right? Jeepers Creepers is one of my favorite movie series so i am extremly excited to hear of a 3rd movie being released.
Also i think the movie should be in theaters, if its anything like the first two then there probly going to make ALOT of money, so a theatrical release is imparative.
Dont much care for the guy who made the movies though, but it does take a criminal to creep the shit out of me, alot of horror movies were just plain boring (Evil Dead, a Nightmare on Elm Street) so yeah a horror movie made by a criminal is pretty interesting, or at least i think so.
SPOILER for the 2nd film.
At the end of the 2nd film the Creeper “runs out of time” b/c the film began with day 22 of his 23 day allowance. At the very end, it’s 23 years later (actually 23 years minus 26 days or so). I haven’t seen the first film recently, so I’m not sure whether it was meant to represent current day or not, but the idea that the next movie would be similar to Jason X is like all the people who believed we’d have flying cars and moving sidewalks everywhere now. Sure, things will change a great deal in 23 years, but some things never advance as much as people believe they will. The kids who came to see the “Hell Bat” at the end of the second film really didn’t look very futuristic in terms of the way they dressed or even the vehicle they were driving. I expected the first film to end with much more of a climax and thought it was way too predictable (the second movie made the whole experience feel much more complete, but I’d like to see the sister from the first film get another crack at him 23yrs later ala Terminator 3), but the character of the Creeper is a great modern day movie monster…I especially liked him stalking the kids in the creepy truck he was driving and the church basement with the body tapestry. It will be interesting to see what’s in store in the next installment.

please tell me you dont think victor silva made shawshank and the greenmile
Hmm…
I loved both of the films. And I just can’t wait for the 3rd one.
And as for the child molestation, first off, MJ was NEVER convicted of anything & secondly it is just a film. Nothing more, nothing else
Way too many critics here just thinking of something to complain about either Victor’s past or the sequel. Jeepers 1 was fantastic, Jeepers 2 was also a “worth my while” type of movie. I enjoyed them both equally. I couldnt give a (beep) about Victors lifestyle or what he got convicted (or didnt) for. I hate what he did, yes, and would probably kick his ass if given the opportunity. I will say this much though, I dont sit there watching his movies with Victor on my mind. In fact, hes the last person on my mind at the moment. He is what he is and he did what he did. We can go on and on mentioning famous people and what disgusting or jaw dropping acts they may have committed, but I am not going to rotate my life around or make decisions based around what they have done. Ex- President Clinton (in my opinion) did a great job as president although his personal life (having affairs) was none of my business. Kinky kind of president, but very savy to run this nation. Go ahead Victor Salva, you write your movies, I will watch and enjoy them (just dont let me be alone with you).

It is 3:14 AM, @ three AM I finished seeing Powder for other viewing. This time I was inspired to contact Victor Silva if I only knew how. My reason was to discover the best way to write the book-story-screen play, that I have no way yet of knowing how to. I thought it best to talk to the person that wrote what inspired me.
I have wanted to write what has been burning in me for the longest time. What has held me back is a laundry list of issues. The frustration due to the issues produces what I think is known as writers-block.
Although I have tried over & over to get the help needed to do the writing. There was only limited willingness on the part of those that I have approached. Maybe they where the wrong choices. Maybe the time just hadn’t come. It would be the biggest blessing to receive the help that would put an end to the pain & frustration of holding on to the tale that I so long to deliver and share.
How could I get in touch with Victor Silva?
I disagree with pretty much all of you. The first movie, while for a creepy horror movie was fairly well origional, but hardly anything no one has seen before. Evil monster chases people who scream and run away only to be killed anyway. The second movie, despite having started the same way, was so much better, for the fact that eventually someone who wasn’t a complete pussy showed up kicked some ass and saved the day. Then, being intelligent, unlike most people in horror movies, he kept the body, and set up waiting for it to come back to life for the purpose of preventing it from killing more people when it wakes up again. The only complaint I have about the ending of the second movie is that you alreaady know that when the third comes out, if it picks up where the second left off, then he may as well already be dead, because there is no way that the main character/hero of a horror movie will be a decrepid grey haired 70 something year old. For the modern age, it has to be a blond bimbo running scared up the stairs throwing a chair behind her, and some “hot bod” muscled teen who yells at the attacker rather then grabbing the shotgun they both know is in the parents bedroom. I am curious and excited for a third Creeper movie, because Victor Silva seems to understand that the age of “hack and slasher scream and run then die anyway hot chicks getting naked for no reason” horror movies has come and gone, and now its time for horror movies to give more to the audiences. Give us something new. Something we haven’t seen a million times before. Give us a good scary movie, but make it good because the characters put up a good fight rather than having sex in a rediculis environment then screaming for five minutes while the camera slowly moves closer to zoom in on them right as blood splatters across their face and the way. I can’t tell you how many horror movies that happens in, because there are way too many Jason and Freddy movies, not to mention every other horror movie that came out to play off their success, or in the same fashion.
isnt it strange that the monster is called the creeper….and the director actually is a creeper….so strange.
I enjoyed the 2nd installment although you’re right , I was just wondering why they were tanning/peeing together…
the creeper seems more humanoid in the first and more bat/bird like in the second, i wonder why?
make it, make it!!!!!!!!!! i luv jeppers creepers it is so ill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I KNOW 1 PERSON THAT WILL BYE A TICKET[ME] HURRY UP
I Think Jeepers Creepers 3 Would Really Be A Good End Of The Trilogy. Why? Because I’ve Heard That The Girl From The 1st One And The Guys From The 2nd One Will Come Back.Kill The Creeper For Good
