One word: ZODIAC

Just goes to prove that critics have the memory of a gnat. You can have the best movie ever made - but if you release it anytime before November, it will never appear on any 'best of' lists.

Kristina, I appreciated the film but it actually wasn't one of my favorites. Not of this year or of Herzog's career. I'm just surprised / saddened there's not more of a push to see Herzog recognized. Although usually I'm perfectly ambivilant about awards.
Have you seen doc about Dieter? It's fantastic. That is one of his best films. And he's made some good ones.

I'm surprised "Rescue Dawn" isn't getting more end of the year love. I'm probably naive but I expected the Oscars to jump at the chance to give Herzog an award but it doesn't even look like he's in the running. It seems like he's universally recognized as the greatest living director (is Bergman still alive?) and there wont be another chance to nominate him anytime soon.

I've seen seven of the ten movies (haven't seen Blood, Savages, or Diving Bell yet) and I'm pissed that Michael Clayton is on this list. What a steaming pile that was.

Anyway, I'd replace Michael Clayton, BtDkyD, and the rat movie with Gone Baby Gone, Waitress, and Rescue Dawn.

I loved "Juno" and I am recommending that film to everyone I meet, so I am glad that made the list.

I would include "I'm Not There." the Bob Dylan biopic(?). In my opinion it is the best film (I've seen) in 2007. The most fascinating piece of film making I've seen in years and Cate Blanchette was just brilliant. Time to pick out your gown for the Oscars Cate!
