Emmy Rossum Cast In Dragonbal Z

By Doug - December 17, 2007 - 09:30 America/Montreal

ErossamSome casting news announced today for Dragonbal Z. It appears Emmy Rossum has been drafted to the cast, we get the scoop from the hallowed halls of The Hollywood Reporter:

Emmy Rossum has joined the cast of 20th Century Fox’s live-action adaptation of the popular Japanese comic “Dragonball.” Rossum, who starred in “The Phantom of the Opera,” joins a cast that includes Justin Chatwin, James Marsters and Jamie Chung. The sci-fi adventure is being directed by James Wong. Stephen Chow, the filmmaker behind “Kung Fu Hustle” and “Shaolin Soccer,” is producing.

If Emmy can dance, then she will be what the industry considers a “triple threat.” I do not know much about this actress but when I googled her ass it appears that she has some CD’s out, including some christmas jams! She has some film experience thanks to: Poseidon, Mystic River and The Day After Tomorrow. I have not heard much about this actress before, but this is probably due to the fact that the 21 year old was jailbait at the time. This girl does more in an afternoon than I have done in my life.

International friends are any of you fans of this young lady, and would you care to add any commentary about her abilities?

Dragonbal Z is a crazy cartoon that I never had a chance to follow. I have seen a few episodes and remember being entertained. Steven Chow is probably the greatest possible person on the planet to back this project. Kung Fu Hustle was insane, I wanted to join the axe gang the day after seeing that movie. I look forward to his trademark style again in this picture. This is one that I will continue to snoop on with interest.

Until then, let us enjoy some of Emmy’s sweet melodious music

  1. She’s okay. I think she has potential to be major in the next few years. The folks behind Dragonball scored some points by getting her. However, I repeat : she’s okay . But having been in two big budget effects films sifts in her favor.

My bet is that the DZ folks remembered her in Poseidon. where she was soaked to the bone and the light sources just happened to shine off her perky bosoms…

Emily Rossum is pretty and talented. No doubt about that.

    But mark my words people:
Those live-action features of animes will bomb big time.
SPEED RACER looks idiotic and this will be awful as well.
You wanna see live-action anime? Go watch the last minutes of MATRIX REVOLUTIONS. Great, wasn’t it? People loved it!

This will be ridiculous and no one will go see it.
Those projects sound good in theory, but they never look good in reality.

First off, I happen to be a Dragon Ball Z. Myself and other fans have dealt with live action movies, so if this does turn out to be a bomb, it’s going to be a step up from the Chinese live action adaptation. My advice with you do decide to watch that version, watch it drunk. So, relax judgement before the ending credits roll.

Second, I’m going out on a limb and saying that maybe Emmy Rossam has been casted as Bulma. For those who have never seen the anime, Bulma is a the blue-haired inventor and genius woman of the Dragon Ball gang, who invented the DragonBall radar to them find the Dragon Balls. She is also the fist girl and friend that Goku meets in the series. I think that this might be interesting, the role would also give Emmy Rossum more to work with, other than be the beautiful innocent love interest/daughter in the movies she has been in. Because Bulma is smart, loud, very arrogant in the beginning of the series, a city girl, and a loyal friend.

Those are my two cents. sorry if I ranted.

    WHAT?!

Dragonball Z is the best this girl can do? No no no! Not my Emmy! I loved her in Phantom of the Opera, she’s ridiculously talented(although I hate that she’s trying to sing like Imogen Heap in that music video), and she deserves better than this garbage.

Personally I wonder why only one asian has been cast in this film so far (of course that asian is a female). Not that I care, never watched Dragonball Z. Don’t like this music video posted either.
