Groundhog Day Re-Released On DVD
It looks like the new year will treat us to a Groundhog Day DVD that is stuffed with special features. We get the scoop from the fabled caves of Yahoo:
A 15th anniversary edition of “Groundhog Day” will cone out on January 29, followed by a 25th anniversary edition of “Tootsie” on February 5, both via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. “Groundhog Day,” digitally remastered under the supervision of director Harold Ramis, includes three featurettes, commentary from Ramis and newly discovered deleted scenes.
Groundhog Day rules, and I do not yet have a copy, so this is perfect timing. I was lucky enough to see the film as a 15 year old in the Seaway Mall Cinemas. The Seaway Mall was once a haven for bathroom sex in the 70’s, but after the police raided the joint, things seemed to settle down and it became a great place to take the family out for a film. I was floored with how good the movie was, and it remains a comedic favorite of mine to this day. My tastes have remained the same since I was 15 for the most part; you can determine if that is good or bad.
It sucks that this film will not be out for the birthday of the baby Jesus. If you desire this in your stocking – you will have to wait till next year sucker!
Every time I watch a comedy with Bill Murray, I want to see more comedies with Bill Murray. I still have to catch him in Darjeeling Limited and look forward to his performance in Get Smart (as agent 13). He is a gifted comedic actor and is an absolute blast when he is on late night talk shows. He is a man for al occasions, Bill Murray, we salute you.

I have the movie Scrooged, and Bill Murray was on top of the world in it! He also played just as well in The Royal Tenenbaums.
Btw, I thought I’d share a little gold gem of him in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPo9sCqza98
Happy Holidays!
The release date for the SE edition of the SE of ths film is good. They have to take the week before or of Groundhog Day …whichever Tuesday comes first. (The first Groundhog Day DVD release -which I have a copy of- said, like most sony releases around that time on the cover “Special Edition”.)
Although I’m not into Buddism, I loved his work in the non-comedy ‘The Razor’s Edge’…I still have to hunt dor the film. Yet I have zero problem finding ‘Where The Buffalo Roam’ in stores. Go figure.
He’s barely in “The Darjeeling Limited” but his few scenes are quite memorable.
Also, NED?!?
How kind of them to finally grace us with a commentary and some deleted scenes. /sarcasm
Luckily I have Blockbuster Online so I can order this without having to pay for the commentary I should have had on the first release.
Why do I get a sense of Deja-Vu?
