Well, it's not really going out on a limb to say that Pixar is the top animated studio, but perfect they are not. When you only release one movie a year at best, there is no excuse for the mediocrity of Cars. Movie-going is subjective, to be sure...but by any objective measure, Cars was easily Pixar's worst film and substandard in general, and was rightly overshadowed by Happy Feet and Monster House in 2006. Which proved that other animation studios are capable of giving Pixar a run for their money.

The stone-cold truth is that John Lasseter perfect streak is over, and clearly the new genius over at Pixar with the Midas Touch is Brad Bird (Ratatouille) -- the new Walt Disney, so to speak -- who was cranking out great shows like Iron Giant (probably the best animated film of the past 20 years) even before joining Pixar.

Wall-E looks solid yes. I hope it is great. But tempered expectations never hurt. After all, in-between all of those slam dunks, even Wilt Chamberlain threw up a resounding brick every once in awhile.

Uhh... What just happened? Not really impressed with what I saw but its way to early to make any determination on what the final product will be. Will just wait and see...
