No monologue. No introduction. No clips from the nominees. Not even a ceremony. It was shot quickly on a sound stage with a presenter and a speech from the winner. I don't see why we have bloated the Oscars to such epic proportions. I would be happy to see the whole thing over and done with without the WGA... ( I think I even mentioned it a week or so ago) in the idea that a good half hour could be shaved off the telecasts by deep sixing the chit chat and mindless banter, where the awards are the awards, and the only breaks are that of musical numbers and/or tributes.
