Food 4 Films Fest Update #1

Well, it’s about 12:30pm and folks are starting to show up. I’m writing this from the event venue. It’s amazing meeting people who have been reading The Movie Blog and commenting for so long finally in person. It’s like we know each other already.

The first film, Clerks 2, will be a little washed out on the screen since it’s so bright outside and this place has lots of windows… but i think it’ll be fine.

More updates as we go!

UPDATE! Well folks, the evening is over. I had such a wonderful time meeting all of you guys. Fun was had, great movies were watched, and money was raised for a good cause! So what do you think? Should we do another one?

Thank you again everyone who attended and to all of you who gave. Make sure to check out the Audio Edition and Panel Discussion when the audio goes online tomorrow!

  1. I had a good time there as well. I’m not a regular visitor here so my name won’t jump at you. It was nice to meet Terry and Kelly from Ottawa as well as Kurt from Twitch. That Todd guy was missed. Oh, and Ms. Whitney is very pretty in person. As are Darren’s wife and sister. Wow!

  2. Of course you should do it again!

And what you should also do is a video podcast MOVIEBLOG AWARDS where you guys are all dressed up in tuxedos sipping champaigne, discussing and awarding the best movies and actors of the past year. I’m serious. That would be a treat. You could ad some lounge music and the sound of people mingling in the background. And no musical numbers (except for maybe one or two by Doug).

    Well wadda you think? :D

(PS. Yes, I’m on a constant mission to come up with ideas to make the Movie Blog an even better experience ;) DS.)

  3. he F4FF was a freakin blast. It was great to finally meet the guys: John, Doug, Darren, Bruxy, Jesse, and Rodney. (And i cant forget Serena!) Lou_Sytsma, i too enjoyed our chats… thanks to you and your brother for letting me pull up a chair! Jeff, it was also great to talk to you… stay outta that cold man! You’ll freeze!

I was a little aprehensive, seeing as how i was actually FLYING in, but i couldn’t of had a better time. Thanks to EVERYBODY there! I would definitely do it again should there be a “Second Annual F4FF”. (What am i saying?!? If??? I mean WHEN!)

I am just afraid that now TMB will hold me to a higher standard! I can’t just reply with smart-ass sarcasm! I need to be insightful!!! LOL.

Well, John & Gang, and all the friends i met, if you are EVER heading down to the Washington DC or Baltimore area, shoot me an email and maybe we can get together.

Well, i look forward to the always interesting talk on The Movie Blog, so until next time… peace.

  4. To The Movie Blog cast and crew thanks a whole bunch for running this event. I hope it becomes an annual event! John’s look on his face when I got the Nystrom and Antilles questions was worth the drive alone!

It was great talking to everyone and Serena and Jeff Walker really enjoyed our extended chats! Hey Serena I have not had a chance to watch Abmoniable yet but I’ll let you know when I do.

The staff at Fryes were great and it was awesome sitting in on a live Audio edition. I am racking by brains to figure a way to do this on a regular basis. The interactive format that Hollywood Lala Land – sorry if I got the web site wrong – is one alternative but to be physically present cannot be beat.

Once again, great to meet everyone and to be able to put some faces to fellow bloggers!

John and Doug – good luck in NY! Darren, Bruxy, Jessie, Rodney et al keep up the great work with The Movie Blog!

    Cheers!

  5. Serena,

Nope, I didn’t freeze ;) As I said, I did my military aquatic survival training in the middle of winter up at Canadian Forces Base Borden in Barrie…that was the absolute coldest I’ve ever been. I’ll talk to you soon :P

Kurt, that was just a typo on my behalf…

  6. Hey Guys,

Just wanted to say I had an awesome time meeting all of you guys yesterday. You were all amazing and kind ppl who I look forward to seeing again. Lou, I hope you enjoy your prize pack…saw Abominable last night and it surprisingly scared the CRAP out of me…Jeff, I hope you didn’t freeze outside from the cold, Aaron, thanks for making me blush, Kurt, you are the man for shoving Salma Hayek out of your way when you came out of the godawful Hotel screening, and the rest of you…I hope I see you at The Blood and Chocolate Screening! Ciao!

  7. Just finally got home. What an amazing time! Doug was hilarious, Bruxy was really personable, Serena was hot and everyone I met there was really friendly. John pulled together an amazing event and I can’t wait for the next one!

  8. I too just got in from the F4FF, and guys, to those of you that didn’t make it, we missed you, and it was a ton of fun.

The movies were great, Doug was hilarious, the live recording of the Audio Edition and panel discussion were fantastic and the screening of Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon was spectacular.

To John, Doug, Jesse, Darren, Bruxy, Serina, Kurt, Russ, Jim, Shaun it was a pleasure and honor to meet you in person and you all did a wonderful job with the event. I hope that this becomes a yearly/twice a year event. I hope to stay in contact with most of, if not all of you. So once again, thank you very much, it was a great time! See you around the blogs!

    -Jeff-

PS: Jay if you read this, you sooo should have come (we were chewing out Alfie behind his back;) Alfie my brother, don’t worry, we just love fucking with ya:P )

  9. Lucky slag? Well at least I wasn’t called a buffoon like I usually am…lol.

Just want to identify who I was, so people who were there could go, “Oh the geek with the toque, sat by himself, I think he had a gun in his boot.”

Man, I get that all the time! But, at least nobody will sit beside me on the bus.

  10. Just Returned from F4FF. Had a blast, (and 10 cups of coffee, OI!)

Thanks John for letting me speak on your panel (it was a lot of fun and you allowed me to piss a bit on Transformers, which is always nice…indeed it is enjoyable to disagree).

Doug was positively Hilarious and ‘on’ during his set. Jesse was a blast when he whipped out the guitar Adam Sandler style…It was nice to finally meet Bruxy in person, my wife will say hi next time she’s at the meeting house. And it is always nice to chat with Serina about horror flicks.

To all the fine folks I managed to have conversations with between films, and during the panel, just wanted to say that I hope John manages to pull things together for a repeat some time.

    Cheers

  11. Just got back home after having an enjoyable time at the festival and it wasn’t because I was one of the winners of the Pirates of the Caribbean DVD. It was exciting to be around people who love movies. It was amazing to find out how far some people came for the event. I hope everyone had a wonderful time and look forward to it becoming an annual tradition. Thanks to everyone for voulunteering to the cause.
