Penelope Ann Miller has joined “High School Musical” star Corbin Bleu in Rigel Entertainment’s motocross action-drama movie Free Style. Previously titled “Metal Birding,” the film, which began shooting in November in Vancouver, also has a new director in William Dear, who replaced Jeff Woolnough (“Taken,” “Battlestar Galactica”). No reason was cited by Rigel for the change.
Miller will play Jeannette, a single working mom to one of the teenage racers who strives to provide for her family while studying full-time to become a nurse.
I wish this project was still called Metal Birding, I don’t understand the name – but it makes me feel good just to say it. After Supercross stormed the international box office for a plunder worth 3.3 Million, I can certainly see why people would clamor to get a piece the golden Motocross film genre. This is like hearing news of an impending train wreck after someone just had a train wreck under the same circumstances.
Penelope has been cast as a motocross M.I.L.F. and I wish her all the best with this film. It is hard enough being a single mom, never mind the additional rigors that motocross hungry children bring to the equation, it will be a role that she will have to wrestle with for sure. This is a job you take because you need to eat. I hope for her sake that the sandwich truck is good, because she will not be taking many memories away from this project.
The best thing about this movie, is the fact that I may now watch Supercross and Free Style back to back in a motocross-theme movie night. I find it incredibly odd that motocross is showcased in film. Am I out of the loop? Is motocross a popular sport to a large segment of the population that I have never met? Or are these films being made for an audience that does not exist?

I think you should just watch Rad and BMX Bandits instead.

Motocross M.I.L.F. LOL. Doug, where do you come up with these terms? I guess M.I.L.F can also mean ‘Movie Is Like Feces’. Personally I can’t wait for a Segway movie.
