We get the news of another Wayans’ spoof movie from the Webmaster of delight at FILMJUNK:
Supermovie is, as you can probably guess, going to poke fun at the multitude of comic book movies that have been hitting theatres over the past few years. The thing is, they’re a little late to the party on this one, as there are already a number of superhero parodies in the works (including one by Scary Movie 4 helmer David Zucker). Not much is known about the project at the moment other than the fact that Shawn, Marlon and Keenen Ivory Wayans will produce (I’m assuming Keenen will direct as well).
I have a strong dislike for 98% of all spoof movies. The Wayans’ brothers are involved in way too many. They did one of the best spoof movies ever with I’m Gonna Get You Sucka and everything since has been far less hilarious.
Spoof movies are easy to pump out and get a good return most of the time, but the clip at which they are coming out leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I know these types of films are popular with younger movie goers and I guess they deserve to have them. These type of films are more interesting when they mock a genre rather than simply reenacting scenes from a handful of movies in a genre that were released recently.
The super hero genre will have enough to make fun of and there are certainly enough films to draw from now; I am simply not able to get excited about this type of film and find the formulaic approach to be dreadfully boring. The only parody film I want to see is I’m Goona Get You Sucka 2 – that would be the exception to the rule.
I like the Qaynes spoofing on shit, the best Scary Movies came from their involvment, the other ones seemed like extended trailers. And the last spoof movie I saw was TERIBLE, Epic Movie was the worst a movie could be, it was terrible, I contemplated destroying the disc so that Blockbuster couldn’t spread this diease any further.

Darren has it right. Also, isn’t the actual Dolemite (in which the Wayans’ Super Bad James Dynomite is partly based) slated for a remake sometime soon?

It is “Dynomite” based on the Wayans’ own comic book creation, “Super Bad James Dynomite”. The deal is with Rouge pictures.

Hmmm…I wonder if there will be a black vs. white joke in this movie. I can’t imagine, this being a Wayan brothers movie. What happened since ‘In Living Color’ to them?

I’m TOTALLY looking forward the new Zucker film…he and his crew are gods to me and I believe Scary Movie got really good when they took over. I’ll watch anything they wrote.
As far as the other spoof movies go…Date Movie absolutely sucked (ie. painful to watch), and Epic Movie from what I heard wasn’t very good.
I haven’t seen enough of the Wayans stuff to say whether it’ll be good or bad. I LIKED Scary Movie 1 and 2 but not compared to the last 2.

When these guys are on a roll they are on a roll. I love when they hit their mark and make me laugh so much. Sure they make crap, maybe more than others, but man oh man they sure are funny. I wish them good luck.
There is only two Movies that i enjoyed that comes from Wayans…adn they are Major Payne and Bullet Proof……Actually the only Wayans i like is Damon Wayans, the other Wayans are crap…….White Chicks and Little Man are crap, i wanted to stab my eyes out when i saw the trailer for these two films……I guess i cant say that the others are crap, i havent seen everyone of their movies, but i am guessing they are…..
