I rented this movie tonight and it was excellent! I can't claim to be a fan of westerns, but damn, as modern ones go this one sits next to Tombstone. Not above mind you, but I definitely plan to add it to the collection. I would love to see another movie with Crowe and Bale they worked fabulously together. I also need to say that Ben Foster was brilliant in this film.

I wanted to see this film when it was in the theatres but didn't get around to it. But I went to the local video store the day it came out. GREAT FILM!!. Even though I'm not a big fan of remakes, this film is definitely an exception, and this comes from a person that was not a fan of westerns when he was younger.

I was one of the idiots that sadly didn't support this movie in theaters and damnit am I pissed that I didn't go. This film was amazing in every way and deserves more attention. For me westerns need to be damn good to keep me interested and this movie really put you into that period. It's definitely a recommend for everyone to see!

Saw it and I'm not the only one who went away incredibly disappointed. Ben Foster was the only part I enjoyed about the movie. Whenever he was on screen with his crazy glare was awesome. Sadly he isn't in the movie a whole lot. Hard for me to get over the character of Ben Wade. One moment he is saving everyone's life and the next he is jabbing a fork into their throat. Then the ending topped off the ridiculousness for me. Oh well, I rented it the same time as Sunshine and that movie was completely awesome.

The Proposition was a much better western that was recently released and got little attention (had a higher RT meter too).

I named this my favorite film of 2007. I absolutely fell in hot, dirty love with this film. From a person who avoids Westerns like the plague, that is high praise.

And on a mushy personal level, this is the first flick that I've seen in a theater with my popppa in a good while(he and I do not share taste in flicks), and it was pretty nice to get to stroll into a theater and have a good time with him.

I loved this movie. Russell looked so good, I nearly had a heart attack.

Christian's character was what westerns are all about.

I completely agree,if anyone hasnt had a chance to see this film. You really should do yourself a favor and rent it.Excelent film.

Its funny, upon starting the movie I expected a shoot'em up type thriller, but what I got instead was an involved film with incredible acting(more on the part of Bale but Crowe wasn't bad either).Christan played one of the most interesting heros Ive ever seen, and crowe did well to play the ruthless Ben Wayd.
