As for potential sequel...I think it would be neat if they just killed of the Main monster and now the threat is the consantly evolving parasites that fell off it. You know have hundreds of thousands of lion sized killers scattering all over the world and reproducing and spreading its many different viruses. By doing this you can keep the horror and fear in the movie and also create a completely different theme by running off the prevoius one. You can still focus the plot on some group of people agian(Military or citizen, or even both) At the very end of the movie after nearly the entire planet as been stripped of all animals and humans. The last surving people could be standing in the presence of a foriengn object with the old cliche " a little green man walks out" and hence the whole plot of both movies was for the human race to be extinguished from ET's.
