i agree whith you on that and its something to put Darren thinking too.
The principles OF THE CAPTAIN AND FOR CONSEQUENCE THE BASE OF THE AMERICAN WAY is a good point and make the character very interesting.
What AMERICAN spirit suposed too represent for this man ,and what became instead ,turning into a good moral tale.
This could turn into a very good history…well, thinking again no american producer would accept too put money on a film like this right now.
But i still think that whith you do a history focused in the man and the way he sees and protect the pure principals of the American Dream this could turn into a very good film.
its the way they would have to explain the oll frozen into a iceberg thing that make it complicated( in my opinion )to translate into a film whitout turn into a rolleye situation.

The reasons for Cap taking so long are:

1) the current political climate. If Marv put out Captian America could it be seen as pro-war, anti-war, pro-Bush, anti-Bush, etc etc. I think Avi Arad may have alluded to this somewhere. I personally feel that this is a non-issue, really, but if I recall, it was a possible concern.

2) To Ultimate or not to Ultimate? (Me, I don’t want the Ultimate…)

3) Production cost. It’s possible they might pull a CGI enviornment like 300 or Sky Cp’n, but having “The Winds Of War” of comic book adaptations is something else. This also goes into question of film length. 2 hours or 2 and a half?

4) I think there are some ways to get around the Cap outfit without losing the essence. But more adaptable than other Marvel characters? The X-Men have uniforms. Tony Stark wears Iron armor. Namor has swimming trunks. Captian America has…

5) It is easier to cast the Red Skull than it is Captan America.

I’m not saying at all that Captian America cannot be done; in fact, still lobby for it not to be a feature film but a TV miniseries. I mean, if one really wanted to go all Winds Of War…

Well Takata, i think Captain America is best suited for film because you can tell is entre story in one epic film (or two perhaps). It’s about a guy who is the ultimate symbol of the American way in the 1940’s and then gets frozen and awakens in our time where his values are completely alien to so many people and he has to figure out his place. Plus, he fights the awesome Red Skull the whole time. I think it’s five times easier to make Cap work on film than most Marvel characters.

The real question is WHICH avenger line up should they use? I mean, what about effin Thor? What about Hawkeye?

Even Spider Man has been in the avengers a couple times….

I think that the best idea is to maybe try and go with the Ultimate Avengers line up. (ie The Ultimates, but maybe not in the same style).

Iron Man, Captain America, Fury, Hulk, Thor, Quick Silver and Scarlet With (Magneto’s Kids), Giant Man (who as Pym is also Ant Man and Yellow Jacket),

Could care less about:
Black Panther (although he is bad ass), The Wasp, Valkyrie

But it would be really tough picking out the line up.

Why you think Caps history is the best suited to turn in a film?
I agreed is one of the best in comics,but turn all that get frozen into a iceberg and be found 60 years later is a little too hard to put into a movie whitout turn into a comedic situation,dont get my wrong.
just think what the average movie dude would think seeing that.
In regard of the way marvel are dealing whith their movies,its really clever but they have to keep the pace right,whith they take to much time introducing new heros for the public, by the time the avengers movie get maded the heros introduced earlier would be forgotted.problably!?

I like the idea of firmly establishing the history of the characters in solo movies and then moving them over into a team roster. With the possibility of Nick Fury appearing in more than one movie as well, he would be a great connection for the movies and to be the character that helps bring them together.

Now is that a cleverly concealed bitchslap at WB? I really don’t now why it’s taking so long to make Captain America. I would argue that his is the best story of all the Marvel characters (or certainly the one best suited to film).

I always thought Ant-Man wold be key, since one could have Pym, Ant-Man II, Wasp and Hawkeye. Ultron would be a threat, Vision is made and changes sides to the Avengers.

You mention Scarlet Witch. Wouldn’t it be funky if Beast (Kelsey Grammer) showed up too? Yes, you read that right …if Marvel was “interconnecting” and Fox is “done” with “X-Men” films in general…if Witch (and Pietro/Quicksilver, for that matter) doesn’t show up in Magneto…

Having Favs being interested in Avengers might make an easier transition to include Iron Man (or at least War Machine?) …
