According to Fangoria Robert Englund won't be playing Freddy in this new Nightmare vision. So yes, it's going to suck balls.

Look every one needs to stop crying about remakes. Most of this is for the X generation of movie goers. You people need to have an open mind about what bay is doing, and if not then just shut the he!! up. If it does not have this person then I wont watch it, if it is not writen by this person then screw it bla, bla, bla. Stop feeling sorry for your self. Just wait when it comes out then make your opinions known. Plus look at it like this. Bay is a well renouned world class director. Every major film that he has done has hit over the 100 millian $ mark. All you people complaining think on what you have done over the last year is any one going to remember what you did the next day let alone five or ten years down the road. So shut your man pleasers and give the man a chance, you might be suprised.

I think it would be cool. Let's just hope it isn't Freddy vs. "Somebody" Let's keep it original and gritty and I'll be in the front row!

I'm not to shocked about hearing about this, I agree with most that they need to have Englund in it. If not it would be like others have said "Indiana Jones" without Harrison Ford or even Jason Voorhees without a mask but now painting his face like a kitten. I'd check it out when it's done, well maybe.
The thing that really gets me is that Bay has all this producing money in Platnium Dunes why the hell is he remaking everything? I'd think with all that he has done and remade maybe he could find people to make something new other than risking fucking everything up. TCM remake and sequal were good but Freddy is far more reconizing than Leatherface.
One other note while were on remakes, whoever is remaking Hellraiser is stupid

This news unfortuneatly does not really interest me. I found all the Nightmare on Elm Street movies to be fairly boring. I have been trying to get into the Horror Movie Genre because a lot of my friends love it, but I just can't seem to get into it myself.

just leave it be. Foster as Freddy ferrchrissakes?! this'll be the good looking Krueger with a flashy MTV style look to the movie, bad indie music & full of that Bay trademark: blatant product placements. the one kinda horror franchise that could use a good kick-in-the-nuts reboot is the Witchblade saga. i was originally thinkin' Gremlins, but even that is just fine w/out a remake. the one thing i can see Bay & co tackling that needs a serious update is the sci-fi series V.

*Switching to sarcasm mode*

Well, if it's as good as the HALLOWEEN and the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE-remakes, I don't see a problem.

Meh, I'm not too worried about it. The only good Nightmare was the first one and New Nightmare had its moments. I do have a weak spot for Nightmare 5 though.
I just hope they will go a more gritty route than the last few Nightmares have been and have Freddy be a true monster like in the original but not a wise cracking joker. I would be glad to see Englund in the role of Freddy since it would be weird to see anyone else in it, unless they change the character considerably.

I thought Nispel did good things with Texas Chain saw, didn't come close to capturing the raw intensity of the original but was an entertaining, gory modern horror flick.

Pathfinder on the other hand was a complete failure so I'm cautiously optimistic.

How many Nightmare on Elm Streets can they make? And why in the world is Michael Bay doing it? There won't be anything for him to blow up, well I guess there's people..
