If it got eliminated because it had pre-existing music then that doesn't explain why Babel got nominated last season. A lot of the music in that score had been used in other movies and T.V. shows and yet it still got a nomination and it even got the Oscar.

Ok then maybe you can clarify a bit more, "its about using another music", what does that mean exactly?

your not the smartest, krazie, are you?
they are not talking about "borrowing elements" or stupid shit like that. what the fuck has it to do if a composers makes something similiar, its about using another music.

If that was the case then I don't understand how Babel even got nominated for best score last year. It should not have been there in the nominations last season because it already had plenty of music that had been used before.

How long has this rule existed? There have been several other scores that have referenced in several other compositions, and yet they have been nominated for an Oscar, and they have even won.

John Williams has certainly borrowed elements from other peoples work, Star Wars did heavily resemble Mars The Bringer of War.

Catch Me If You Can had several references to John Williams earlier score for J.F.K.

Hans Zimmer's score for Gladiator had references to some of his previous works, and he even had Mars The Bringer of War in his score, note for note.
