I enjoyed this film. I thought the first underwater parts with the ship going down was funny. McConaughey leaping underwater to get the gun to shoot off the chains, also funny. I liked seeing Sutherland start off as an old waste product then come to life and reveal his intelligence. I liked A. Dziena. McConaughey shooting the bad guys in the foot and ear, I liked. There were a few extra scenes but I personally prefer a bit too much to too little. I was turned on when Dziena almost got the sword in the crotch and she looked like she was, too.

One major problem. In the real world, women cry and sue when a man hits them but in film, women hit men all over the place and it’s supposed to be funny. Outside the divorce court, there was the moment where I thought “wow, in any other film the “heroine” would hit him here but she’s walking away!!” I was impressed. Then she borrowed a cane from somebody and smacks him across the head.
I enjoyed this film, I like McConaughey’s performance and his charm, Sutherland and Dziena but for a minute I was going to be impressed by it’s intelligence.

I myself enjoy seeing quality abs, and my hunch that there are indeed quite a few minutes of film devoted to this very thing was confirmed by the ‘Good’ category of this review. I thank you for clearing that up, as I wouldn’t have wanted to spend money on a film rife with tight story lines, well-thought-out character development or stellar dialogue.

P.S. My favorite part of this review was the embedded link to the Wikipedia page on ascots.

Kristina, why is their a need to attack someones skin? This thread is supposed to be about the movie, why the personal attacks? Anyways, I went to go see the movie last night with my boyfriend and while he was asleep I was wishing someone would knock me out as well. I was sooooooo disappointed with this film. Like the review said, the actual treasure hunt parts were pretty good, but there was too much other things going on that just muddied it up. Two times in a row I get duped, the last movie that disappointed me like this was I am Legend. What’s going on with movies lately? For now on I’ll wait until it comes out on cable. This is getting old, bad movies are becoming redundant.

I’m just glad is movie if finally out and I can stop seeing the trailer for it in the theaters. So painful. At least I could mute or change the channel when it came to the TV spots.
