Knight Rider TV Movie is Here

By Rodney - February 17, 2008 - 14:44 America/Montreal

The time is upon us retro movie geeks. The Knight Rider TV Movie airs tonight.

It might just suck balls, and the retro purists will hate the voice (Val Kilmer digitized) and the car not being a TransAm, but we will have to see. If this actually gets good reviews, rumour has it they will base an ongoing TV Series on it.

Check your local listings.

And in case you missed the teaser trailer:

just why? Such a stupid concept. I’ll avoid this one, thank you for informing me of this incoming bomb.

  2. Rodney says:

Remakes are rarely good, but lets hold off slagging it until it comes out. It may surprise us.

People said the same thing about a next generation of Star Trek and it became more popular than the first series.

  3. Crags says:

seen all the clips on movieweb…I can’t believe the acting and dialog could be so worse. did the mayor of hiroshima direct this tv movie?

  4. James says:

I think you should replace ‘good reviews’ with ‘good ratings’. That’s all NBC is going to pay attention to when it comes to deciding if they go forward with a series.

  5. dublin_sullivan says:

did the car say “hello Mike”?

  6. dublin_sullivan says:

did the car say “hello Mike”?
its jsut one more shit the bed to follow knight rider 200 and team knight rider

  7. JAMIE says:

actually- im watching this it might be good i liked the old one and as long as it doesnt turn out like the sarah connors terminator bullshit im cool- i mean- cant be worse then that right?
to me it doesnt look bad- but hey- it might tank

  8. chris (the real one) says:

LOL the mayor of hiroshima? wow that was a stretch but yea this looks like its gonna be ass….plus im not missing the wire for this shit….

  9. JAMIE says:

K.I.I.D. sounds like a porno dude…or like the onstar guy that tryes to talk to ur wife…

  10. Crags says:

as suspected it sucked, meaning this site will endorse it

  11. chris (the real one) says:

    ooooo crags….o no u didnt!!

  12. spagett says:

    true crags

How bout we talk about a good show instead. “Breaking Bad” is on its 4th episode tonight at 10 EST. It is a very very good show.

Sadly it is on the same time as Dexter on CBS. Another show I wanted to watch (I don’t have showtime or whatever it airs on). I’ll probably watch Dexter and then Breaking Bad has an encore right after it airs at 11 EST.

  13. Simple Simon says:

Very poorly written…don’t know if it was aimed at children or drooling morons. I would assume the latter since in the first five minutes our heroes were engaged in a threesome and a homosexual relationship.

Also, nanotechnology does not explain the blatant disregard for the laws of physics (energy would have caused K.I.T.T. to skid during the final collision).

  14. JAMIE says:

just saw it- horrible. goddammit. no comment.

  15. geoff says:

    utter crap.

  16. Ricochet says:

It’s not a remake it was a continuation and IMO thats the only way that they could have made it that it wouldn’t be bad but it is because they went with awful cheesy writing and whatnot and then they wonder why these projects suck ass.

It just pisses me off that they continually spend money on these shows that suck and they just go out and pick up more garbage and stay in that vicious cycle instead of giving quality written shows a chance like Journeyman.

Fuck you NBC. Fuck you for trying to pass on shit like Night Rider.

  17. Rodney says:

Crags, what makes you think that we only “endorse” crappy productions?

Maybe you need to visit this site more often.

  18. Hamid says:

I just hope they don’t stuff it with hip-hop/pop culture references, which is what is done in every lazy redux of an old TV show or in shit like Meet The Spartans. We really don’t want “a shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a badass mo’fo” with a rapper sidekick who says “that was whack” every two minutes.

  19. Garfy99 says:

This new movie/future series was absolutely craptastic, it had nothing to do with the original what-so-ever, the characters were boring, the acting was terrible. Then of course there’s the new KITT, what can I say; except stupid concept, I was more than willing to except a Mustang but the cockpit was uninspired, and Val Kilmer as the voice almost made me vomit.
They must have paid both Hasselhoff and Kilmer in alcohol to even participate in this train wreck, the only person who is laughing their ass off, is Glen Larson, maybe just maybe his vision of a big screen adaption of the original show will come to light; and to justice for the fans, but then we could end up with worse then what we all saw on TV on Sunday night!!!!!

  20. Crags says:

lets hear the site’s opinion of knight rider then rod

  21. Rodney says:

Crags, it is still on my PVR. I have yet to watch it. Which also means I am reserving judgment on it.

You still have yet to answer my question. What makes you think that we only “endorse” crappy productions?

Is your entire basis going to be that you hate Transformers and we all seem to have found enjoyment in it?

  22. James says:

Here is a deleted scene left out of last night’s airing, as you can tell by the unpolished CGI:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUWkySpoEC8

  23. I watched the show.

Justin Bruening as Mike Traceur did an alright job. Bruce Davidson as the KITT inventor, was fine. Deanna Russo was so-so…. in the first hour and then…Mike, sarah and KITT driving around the Nevada desert at night, gab, gab, gab.
Worse was the NBC promo giveways, where you would see Mike and KITT (also voiced by Val Kilmer) riding along. There were times where I thought it was part of the show. ALL of those promo segments were lame.

Overall, the TV film didn’t work, and I seriously doubt NBC is going to put it on a schedule. Then again, they may need something to fill the gap caused the axing of Bionic Woman.

  24. Roguepirate says:

The acting was bad and so was the script but the thing is that nobody watched the original Knight Rider for the acting or for the scrip, they watched it because Michael Knight and KITT were badasses and people wanted to see KITT do badass stuff. I wouldn’t have minded the acting or the story as long as there was a good amount of ass-kicking/badassness to counter the but sadly to say it didn’t. The mustang is a nice car, but as KITT, it doesn’t have the same awesome feel that the old Trans-Am had. Also it really felt like to me that all the advancements in technology really watered down KITT. From the satellite images to nano-technology, KITT really loses its ‘awe’ factor that it used to have. When this does start as a series, and everybody knows that it will, I hope they add some more punches to the face and running over of stuff.

  25. Crags says:

that doug guy is reviewing gladiator fliks that eat ass, ya TF1 as well, crank, clerks 2. can’t recall all. just bad taste not paralell to mine so oh well

  26. Rodney says:

So “that doug guy” puts up reviews over old machismo gladiator movies that you dont like. You don’t like Transformers, You dont like Crank, and Clerks 2.

You nailed it on the head. YOU don’t like those movies. Would you like to enlighten us into which movies you feel DO deserve our praise that we don’t “endorse”?

Its your choice to like and dislike any movie you want. But to decide that because this TV Movie looked bad meant that we would stand behind it is not fair.

  27. rafa1215 says:

I saw it last night. I liked it. I really did like it. Chills ran up my spine when they mentioned that 20 something years ago they built the first KITT. The acting was so-so. The effects were great. The Hoff at the end was the best. I’ve set this to always record on my Tivo – hopefully I won’t have to delete that entry.

  28. Steven Carroll says:

I thought it was alright. I’ll check out the series if they make it.

  29. Jeff Razey says:

    @ Crags…

…so why are you here? ‘just bad taste not paralell to mine so oh well’… so again why are you here then?

  30. Ryan says:

Can you say dike rider, I know that more and more women want to be like men and act like men but the one night stand with the two women at the beginning was a little much. Overall the show was a little cheesy but could make it.

  31. Bluegragon says:

Yes Ryan, what a way start a show. what bearing does a Dike have to with the show? A women can’t be tough and determined without being a Dike what bad witting and cheap trill. I hope they cut her out PDQ and get to writting a better charters and less cheap trills.

  32. Rodney says:

First off… the derogatory is DYKE… if you are going to look ignorant at least try not to be illiterate.

Secondly, all of the women present in the pilot were QUITE feminine… I have no idea what Ryan is talking about.
