rodney its not the ol black kingpin debate imo....because i was fine with kingpin being black because he basically WAS the kingpin, a large mafio-type boss man....didnt matter if he was white or black...

but the baroness thing is different....she was voluptuous, seductive and basically was an amazon brunette....and they cast a skinny ass blonde...not the best casting and kristina makes a good point....everytime a strong, thicker female character is needed the always cast a skinny blonde...

i love some meat on my woman and when i heard of the gi joe movie i expected a fine amazon she devil to be baroness not this skinny broad

Its the same old "they made the Kingpin black!" thing again?

The hair colour is a minor and irrelevant point. Lots of valid explanations to having Sienna be blond are presented (Baroness is a disguise expert, origin story etc) but to gripe that they made Kingpin Black or that the superhero who wears a nearly full head mask NOT a redhead is just about as silly as complaining that Bumblebee was not a VWBug in Transformers.

Provided the spirit of the character is still there, I don't care about stupid things like hair colour and skin colour. Just get the CHARACTER right.

(ive got nothing against black people or brunetes- but daredevils a redhead and kingpins white- not my fault)

She doesn't look like a chick to me.I prefer Catherine Zeta Jones. She looks more Baroness when I saw her in Phantom. She was also wearing black.Ms. Miller is not a Baroness material as I imagine.

Why is it that whenever a role calls for an exotic, voluptuous, dark-haired woman, they cast a pale white chick instead? Take Daredevil for example. Elektra is a dark-haired buxom Greek woman, and they cast dimple-faced white bread kindergarten teacher Garner? Now Sienna Miller as the goddamn Baroness? WTF?! Christ, Megan Fox can't act worth shit, but she's more of a Baroness than this chick.

This movie is just setting the stage. I wouldn't worry about the no Cobra stuff. I read elsewhere (IESB, maybe?) that Cobra Commander has been cast. Too bad, I liked that Gary Oldman idea (Michael Emerson from lost whoud have been quite acceptable).

I'm not worried about the Baroness being blonde in this photo. I've been thinking flashback/background scene. I do remember her disguising herself more than a few times, as well.

I've been getting pretty pumped over this movie lately. I've been rereading all my old Mrvel GIJOE comics and ordering the missing issues from Mile High Comics (check out their Ebay store). If you'd like to read the official cannon on the origin of Snake Eyes, pick up issues 26 & 27.

Still no Cobra in this film, right? No Gary Oldman as Cobra Commander? I love that Ray Park is Snake Eyes, but may need to pass on this one.
