Brent. It's the same thing EVERYWHERE, TV and film schools have a higher percentage of male students. Most pople getting involved in this industry come from being fans of things like star wars or other event films. Everywhere I have witnesssed the industry in a classroom the girls think that every guy is a geek, yet tose geeks are the ones that stick in for all 3 to 4 years of class. In the US today you can't get a job without a university degree unless you have a stellar demo reel. Maybe its just what Brent and I have seen, but I bleieve this to be the same case in a lot of places.

Well I can speak on the matter Im currently in film school at out of a class of 18 we only have 3 girls in the class. we had 5 last semester but they both switched out. and this is only the second semester and I'm a freshmen. I know one of the girls is switching to Painting and the other two are animators.

So that just lets you know how it is at my college not sure how others are but I imagine its slightly the same.
