Julie Benz joins Saw V
Julie Benz was made famous for me for her role in Angel as the malicious yet incredibly seductive vampire Darla. Of course more recently she has been on a little show called Dexter, and now she is returning to the big screen to get top billing in the fifth installment of the Saw movies.
Julie Benz (Showtime’s “Dexter,” upcoming Punisher: War Zone) will topline Saw V, the latest installment in the Lionsgate/Twisted Pictures franchise, reports Variety.
I lost interest in Saw after the second one. I know there is a deeper mystery and storyline that is filling the gaps between the disturbing moral conflicts that just end in torturous gore, but it just wasn’t enough to grab me in.
But adding Julie Benz did get my attention where most Saw franchise news barely gets me to click a link.
Is this an asset for Saw V or does it even matter who is in it so long as there is someone to tell people how they are going to die?
i used to love her in Angel but then I saw Rambo. god, she was so damn fucking terrible in that, her scenes made that film a comedy.
Rodney if you happen to see saw 3 for free or by accident you might like it.
The 3rd film completes what you now see was a trilogy and it was very well played out. Gory as hell of course but it actaully made sense.
They should have ended it there because it ended on a real grim ending for ALL the players.
The 4th saw was pretty bad. I don’t want to give any spoliers out but let’s just say it was far beyond being believable.
The film flashed back and forth from timelines so much that you had to spend all your time keeping up.
I don’t have much hope for Saw5.
I’ll watch it on dvd when I can borrow it from someone.
I’ve enjoyed all the Saw movies, mostly because Tobin Bell is awesome in those flicks. Looking forward to Saw V.
Tobin Bell is the backbone of the Saw films. He’s great!
I loved him in season 2 of 24 as well…..
I am, personally, a little confused as to what to think. I think Julie Benz is a talented actor, but it almost seems that this is a step backward as far as her current momentum goes. That being said maybe she is the Samuel L. Jackson of the Vaginally Enabled. A paycheck is a paycheck after all.
I loves me some Julie Benz after watching her on Dexter although I do agree that this seems sort of like a step to the side. Or maybe a jump to the left….
I just think it’s sad that she hasn’t been able to leverage her work on a top shelf show like Dexter into anything better than Rambo and Saw V. These projects seem like the resting ground for has beens and D listers, not the talented supporting cast of critically acclaimed shows that is still gaining in popularity.
She’s hot, but who cares about this film.
