Martin Sheen Honored By The University Of Notre Dame

Marty-SheenThe Catholic Overlords at the university Of Notre Dame have deemed Marty Sheen to be a worthy recipient of the Laetare Medal. We get wind of this award ceremony thanks to latin scrolls discovered in the fabled caves of yahoo:

Activist-actor Martin Sheen will be honored by the University of Notre Dame with its Laetare Medal for his humanitarian work, the school announced Sunday. Sheen, who starred as a U.S. president who was a Notre Dame graduate in NBC’s “The West Wing,” is to receive the medal at the school’s May 18 commencement. Since 1883, the Laetare Medal has been awarded annually to a Catholic “whose genius has ennobled the arts and sciences, illustrated the ideals of the church and enriched the heritage of humanity.”

I will never be honored as a Catholic hero, but this is no time to let jealousy get the better of me. Martin Sheen goes to protests where he knows he will end up in the slammer, and for that i certainly respect him. He could be doing better things, but he believes in peace and fights for what he believes in. It is appropriate and wise for Notre Dame to honor the man, and I stand alongside my catholic enemies in congratulating him.

Some poo poo celebrities when they take political sides and I say hogwash to that! Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I champion those that give it when asked. Martin Sheen we hear at The Movie Blog salute you and your desire to see peace on earth.

As a Catholic, I have yet to receive this award, but I won’t hold it against ND! LOL

    Dougie
You lost me in this: Did Sheen win for playing a President that went to ND, or did he win because he actually attended ND?

  2. dougnagy says:

No he won for being an outstanding catholic of note.

“He could be doing better things…”

    Such as?

  4. Rodney says:

Such as? whatever is more important to you.

Regardless of what someone commits themselves to, someone else is going to have a cause more passionate and close to their heart that they feel is “better”

Hi, I’m with probitionate in his query, doing better things such as?

I don’t think the point is the cause that you commit to, but rather a part of the article seemed to question the point of protesting at all.
