I should learn not to trust the critics but view a film for what I think and how it speaks to me. I had read a review stating that it was a good historical film but the acting and directing were not. This caused me to be more critical in the opening scenes, hoping for a good performance, but expecting just a documentary. Patrick Swayze may have seemed a little stiff at the beginning, which surprised me, and I wondered if this was a reflection on the director. But he really shined in the courtroom and afterwards. As I expected, Ben Silverstone was excellent. I was drawn into the story, the emotion, and the agony of the defendant (Silverstone). The quality of the production was very good and the story was well told. I hope this movie does well. I just watched this film.
