Pirates of the Caribbean 4 in 2011?
Found via our friends over at MoviesOnline, it appears that AICN has a “scooper” that is telling them a Pirates of the Caribbean 4 is indeed on the way and that such a film (whatever it will be about… no details are really given) is being targeted for a 2011 release.
First thing I have to obviously say is take anything from a “scooper” with a giant grain of salt. Having said that, let’s proceed with the rest of this post assuming the information to be true. It brings a couple of thoughts to mind:
1) No one is surprised – The films make more money than porn (not really… it’s just an expression), and no matter how bad the last couple of them were, they still made money. This is the movie BUSINESS, and if they think there is more money to be made… then they’ll do it. And so would you.
2) A Pirates of the Caribbean 4 focused on Jack and Barbossa could interest me – Let’s face it, each Pirates movie has gotten progressively worse and worse. The first one was brilliant, the second one was just below mediocre, and the third one was absolute shit. The films got further and further away from their main strengths… namely Captain Jack and Captain Barbossa. If you make a 4th one about these two characters and keep the story tight instead of floundering all over the place, I COULD get excited about it… but even then I doubt it at this point.
3) In the name of all that is good and holy… no more Orlando Bloom or Keira Knightly – I love Knightly, but her character has been nothing but a dead weight in these films. She needs to go. As for Bloom… he needs to consider a career change, or pray he can be an elf again in the Hobbit movies.
So what about you? Does the notion of a Pirates 4 excite you? Repulse you? indifferent?
I agree with you to an extent John… I also think that a focusing on Jack Sparrow/Barbossa could be very interesting.
I gotta’ say though, I never agreed with your opinion of the second and third films in the series. I know I’m most likely in the minority here, but At Worlds End is actually my favorite film of the series.
I’ve also never really had a problem with either Knightly or Bloom’s work in Pirates. I’ve never really been a huge fan of KH, but I thought she did a decent job in the Pirates films.
Another thing that I’m sure will put me in the minority is my take on Orlando Bloom… I actually think the guy is a pretty decent actor and I’ve never really understood what everyones problem with him was. Just check him out in the director’s cut of Kingdom Of Heaven(not the horrid excuse for a film that was the theatrical cut… terrible, terrible film… but the director’s cut is a classic), you really get to see how good the guy can be in that version. If the Director’s cut had been the version that was released in theaters, I don’t think everyone would rag on the guy they way they do. Who knows, I may just be waaaaay off base here. Wouldn’t be the first time.
That’s not to say that I want Orlando or Keira back in any further Pirates films or anything. Their characters’ story lines were brought to a close and to bring them back would just be plain idiotic.
I have to agree with Darthmuppet, At worlds End was the better of 2 and 3, nothing beats Curse of the Black Pearl, but thats because its the first of the them and just like any series of movies the first is 98% of the time the best because its the first time your meeting the characters and whatnot. again i have to agree Bloom is not a bad actor, just not given a good chance everyone is focused on Depp as Jack sparrow, dont get me wrong Jack is better then most characters i have seen in years, Knightly eh is all i can say about her,, she has had some good moments in the pirates movies but not a real good run other then those few moments, so i do have agree in saying with a 4th movies make it more on Jack and barbossa but NOT a prequel please,, start from where at worlds end left off,, both of them going for the fountain of youth and maybe throw in a few things about both of their pasts like how or why Jones brought the Pearl up for jack in the first place, or more about how Jack and Barbossa know each other make it new but still keep on jack mainly
i love pirates the first second and third, however i do agree with kira knightly to go.. i didnt really like her.. but captin jack oh man you can never get to much of captin jack sparrow

IF the movie will focus on Barbossa & Jack then I’m in. I love pirates and would be interested in seeing a PIRATE movie with all the scoundrel carousing, double crossing and NO retarded love story to distract. Love has no place in a pirate movie! I want the open sea, tawdy whores at port, cannon explosions and sword fights.
Just like DarthMuppet I thought At Worlds End was a at least as good as the original. It would be nice to see them remove Bloom and Knightly, as their characters storylines seemed completely finished in At Worlds End.
Who knows, they could try and make another 3 films with two new supporting roles…
I am a huge fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, but after the first they began to head downhill. I have to say the first and second movies were excellent and well put together. On the other hand, the third was to long and carried way to many different plots at one time. There were some points in the third movie that just made you want to hit the fast forward button to hurry it up and get to the good action scenes.
A fourth movie is both good and bad in my opinion. Good because Bloom and Knightley’s departure will help the fourth movie a lot. Their parts (especially in the third) tended to complicate the movies. I didn’t mind Orlando’s character, but I could not stand the character Keira played. Also, I am interested to see what Disney will do with Captain Jack Sparrow and his arch enemy Captain Barbossa and how the story will progress.
It’s bad because Disney is going to blow Pirates out of proportion and ruin the Pirates Trilogy. The Pirates movies brought in a lot of money so Disney will continue to do them as long as their is a considerable profit in sight. Who wouldn’t?
I agree that a movie between Capt Jack and Barbosa could be a winner. I’m tired of the lady pirate. Let’s move past the love story and into the pirate story.
I agree that it would be pretty cool if it had to deal with just Jack and Barbossa. I actually liked all 3 POTC films, yet I do think that it would be nice to not have Knightley in POTC 4. I haven’t had any problem with her, and I’m not saying she’s a bad actress, it’s just by POTC 3, the love stuff kinda had nothing to it. As for Bloom…heck, I could take him in POTC 4. The only movie I disliked him in was Troy, but that was mostly because of Diane Kruger making him suck. POTC 4. Let’s hope it works
I’m all for the POTC movies. The Pirate genre, if there’s such a thing, is unique nowadays and we can always use one every so often. 2011 would be 4 years after the last one, so that should be ok.

I think they should keep making more and more. No matter what happens, I will still pay to see Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow again and again. No matter what storyline they take, I think my movie ticket was worth it. However, I, like some of you think that Keira should be taken away and the should focus more on Jack. As far as Orlando’s character is concerned, I think he should be forgotten for a while and possibly make his re-appearence in POTC 6… that’s if they get that far…
I love the characters of Jack Sparrow and Barbosa, and would love to see them in future films. But I also don’t think Bloom and Knightley were dead weight. They were both an integral part of the story since film 1.
I hate the idea… I thought the sequels were okay, but after I heard on another site one of the producers calling it a “buddy flick” I want to shoot myself. Hollywood needs to STOP after 3 movies for any franchise (only breaking the rule with films that were exceptionally good)… So much bs out now. UGH.
And aww at Bloom and Knightly… dunno why everyone hates them (all my female friends hate Knightly and other random young female actresses like Scarlett Johannson… sad because I don’t like the reverse… I’m especially disgusted by all Disney derived young stars… does it say somewhere in live-action Disney film contracts that you need to overact or something? UGH…)

I’d love to see a part 4. Have Elizabeth and Will finally get their happy ending, with the main storyline surrounding Jack and Barbossa……!! I can’t wait.

I enjoyed all of the films. I would like to know what happening w/will and liz but other then that it being about Jack and Barbossa would be find. What would a pirate movie be w/o a love story to go along with it.

That’s so true!!!!! I can’t imagine Pirates of the Caribbean without Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley, they’re the main part of the whole story. Some people may say that their story has ended, but in a way it hasn’t because they still have the rest of their lives to live. E.g. they could have everyone fighting over who drinks from the fountain of youth,as they would be able to live forever…it could lift Will’s curse – hint hint!
That sounds like a really good idea! The producers would be making a big mistake if they cut their roles!

I Loved all of them and so did my family. I’m actually hoping I get to see Will and Elizabeth again along with their son. I also Love Jack and Barbossa too, all of them. Great acting all together.
pirates of th caribbean is amazing!! Even if the story line is not so good i will still love it! I do agree that 2 was not that good, but 3 was my favorite. Captain Jack Sparrow is amazing so aslong as hes in it, Im good.

just bear with me here. i know most of u are repulsed by the mere idea of a pirate 4. i however am THRILLED!! the third was a little jumpy but if u get rid of elizabeth and will and get back down to earth a little it could be phenomenol! i wish i had a chance to talk to mr bruckhimer and gore verbinski to suggest to them what to add and what to lose. get back to me if u can. thank u
having balboa and jack mainly focused on is a good thought, but i strongly disagree. I wouldnt want to watch a movie that only has two characters. Its fun to watch a bunch of witty characters. anyway jack needs his crew. I enjoyed 3 the most, and i dont think it was at all shitty, there working hard to put out these movies and i got to say the actors are great. Characters elizebeth swan and will turner are great, it gives the movie romance.

When I heard the initial rumors of a 4th movie shortly after the release of PotC3, I heard that it was going to focus mainly on Jack (Didn’t hear much about Barbossa, but it’s possible.)
And I agree on your opinion and the movies declined with their actual quality, but that tends to happen to many movies when sequals come out.
But one thing I want to express my opinion on is that truthfully, I think Kiera and Orlando should deffinitly be brought back. I personally don’t like Kiera all that much myself, but I think they would at least need to make some small cameo somewhere. And yes, Orlando typically plays the “get-the-girl-pretty-boy” in a big majority of his movies, and he’s far stronger in some films than others, but I think Pirates is a good place for him. It’s a balance between his “heartbreaker” and his “hero” character aspects. Two things you must consider, though.
First of all, even if the Will/Elizabeth saga may seem to be over at the end of Pirates3, they managed to bring Barbossa back into the plot even after he died- and since I personally believe it was never in their official plans to make a long series out of it (don’t take my word for it, I just think that…) it could have easily ended where it did in the first movie. But they did it. So they could easily find some reason for them to come back, too.
Secondly, it’s a Disney movie. And as you all may know, just about every Disney movie has love in it. So it’d seem out of place for them to leave no room for romance. And since Jack can’t seem to find that one special girl, they at least would need Will and Elizabeth for that. Unless they could find some way to introduce more destined lovers… which is doubtful.

Pirates 4 would be a great installment on this already fabulous series, for those that say that At Worlds End wasnt great most likely didnt understand the plot and all the scallywaggin going on. Everyone was double crossing everyone, is that not the pirate way???? Quit bitchin and enjoy these movies for what they are…

i would love to see a pirates 4 but only if the story is good. i personally would be very mad if they took elizabetha and will out of the story. i’d like to see some newer characters though.

first off, the last two movies were genious.. im sorry you have no appreciation for good cinema. however i agree about kiera knightly and the other fag, they need to go. the only way i want to see another movie with kiera knightly is if it’s rated “r” for nudity… if you see what im getting at…
but on a more serious note… i think the pirates 4 should pick up where the 3rd left off… with jack and barbosa in a race to find the fountain of youth.. and some freak accident, like will’s blacksmith shop burns down and he and elizabeth are trapped inside, and that would end the reign of the 2 of them.

But anyway, the ideas involving the ‘new developments in travel (air)’, the fountain of youth, and the ‘lost city (atlantis or something)’ that have already been thrown to us all sound good to me.

Seems like everyone wants to be a movie critic. Remember what movies are: escapism, pure and simple. I thoroughly enjoyed all three films and would enjoy seeing more. They have an ensemble of actors that works well on the screen. Relax and enjoy. That’s what the films are for. Anyone who wants to fuss needs to talk to the writers of the films.
I liked the POTC movies and think another one would be good but either Elizabeth and Will should be totally ignored or they find out something about the fountain of youth while Jack + Barbossa are out fighting for it
then the Turners will have to help Jack (or Barbossa) before something bad happens

* i think a fourth pirates wouldnt make as much as the previous because it been publicised too much in the “its on, its off, its on” sense. yt he time they do make a decision another great set of movies with everything we loved about pirates wil come along
* although i loved orlando and keira as wil and elizabeth in the last 3 movies, and i hated the thought of them leaving, i know realise, theyre story has been closed, especially with the child in focus (unless its jacks lol). imagine that though, an aged elizabeth with crowsfeet and a to be teenager son lugging along behind his parents footsteps. personally i hate the whole “shhow them raising theyre piate son” if theyre son wasnt there, it mightnt be such a bad thing having them back…maybe someone could “accidently” feed it to the kraken ?? lol
* get back down to real pirates. although wil and elizabeths love story was great and heartwarming, by the third it took up to much of the storyy space, we need to see more action here! and not just on the shore with a beautiful ladys boots off! we need real pirate action, and if the 4th movie delivers that than great

Anyone else notice that it’s mainly women defending Bloom and Knightly, and all their responses are simply:
“No, they can’t get rid of Orlando and Kiera! I love them! Waaaaaa… etc.”
Get real kiddos, Kiera’s character was just annoying by the third film and Orlando had nothing to do but look constipated in an attempt to convey emotion. They had the scene at the end of the credits in the third film, that’s the filmaker’s way of saying this is what happened to them, THE END.
There is nothing left for them. Time for Jack and Barbossa and lots of treachery and fighting.
Entertainment is what I look for in a feature film and all three POTC films supplied that in torrents. When you become an armchair film critic you start to loose focus of the entertainment value. Unless you are being paid to critique the POTC films, just sit back and enjoy the entertainment.
I would like to see all characters return in POTC 4 to get closure on all of them. Preferably a happy ending for all, including Barbarosa.

I thought the first movie was gold, the second was good, the third good aswell. it was like the godfather trilogy. I loved all the movies, not so much the parts with will and elizabeth. I thought it was too dramatic, for instace in pirates 3 when they are fighting fish people and decided to get married. dont you think there were better times to consider that I mean honestly!
OK seriously. I don’t really do any blogging at all. as a matter of fact its my first, but I was reading some of the entries here and felt that I just had to say something. I am a big fan of the pirates series, and honestly it gets a little tiring hearing people rip on certain aspects of the movies. Regardless if you like kiera and orlando, you cant escape the fact that jack is mainly comic relief and a way to tie all the characters together. I’m sorry, but it’s true, I mean thats why we all love him. hes not really caught up with all the drama that everyone else is in. And remember that the series started as kiera and bloom’s story. And I’d kind of like to see how that turns out. And by the way, their story isn’t complete as a lot of you seem to be eluding to. If you’ll recall, the boy at the end of the 3rd film watching his father(Will) come home with his mother(Kiera), is the same boy that got hung at the beginning of the movie. Now obviously, a lot happened between those 2 points, and personally, I’d like to see what it was. I’ll tell you the truth, I haven’t read anything about whether they’re making a 4th one or what it might be about, but in my opinion ( based on what I’ve seen in the movies), there WILL be a 4th one because there’s just too many ?’s left unanswered, and their still is money to be made off this franchise. Elizabeth and Turner WILL be in it, because their the foundation, and their story isn’t finished yet. And its going to be awesome, just like the rest.
All the movies have been fantastic and wonderous. I knew after At Worlds End that they couldnt let it all end like that. Turner will be with Elizabeth and Jack will finally have control of the Black Pearl himself.
I am glad to see more folks admitting they like all the pirate movies…I like all three of them…I actually think they got better as they went along.

ok the first was wobly but good the begining started alitel slow but it did not suck 2 was boring but important for the storyline for 3 2 had 1 good part and that was when the crackin attacked 3 great overall especialy the fight between pearl and duchmen that was definitly the best part another thing 3 had some funny parts
I think that Keira should be in this one. No orlando because he’s all about the “oh I’m a big man and great hero, I’m the coolest!’ I’d really like to see Johnny Depp again, I think he’s great. More of tia dalma too! And mr. Barbossa. I have to say I liked all of them except two and three were too lovey dovey. I want to hear about pirates!!! Not relationships between two people and feelings and burdens and blahbiddyblahbiddyblah! I hope that 4 will be a lot better.

SPOILER: Neither Jack Sparrow, nor Barbossa make it to the new world, but do you know who does instead?… Jack’s dad. Haven’t you noticed a striking resemblence between Jack’s dad and Captain Hook from Peter Pan? and haven’t you noticed a striking resemblence between his helper and Mr. Smee? Well they’re tieing the two movies together. They’re going to find Neverland!

One thing I think many have missed is the VERY end of the credits on Pirates 3. Elizabeth and a 10 yr old son watching & waiting for Will’s return on the horizon.
I think a Pirates 4 would good. A possible plot could be his kidnapping to get to Will. Also can see Jack & Barbosa being involved to save the boy.

I think the third one has to be my favorite. It was just really good. And the end was another “To be continued” because they were talking about the fountain of youth. So why is it coming out in 3 years? Thats crap.
No more Knightly or bloom? I’m not a fan of either (johnny, i am in love with) but they are pretty important. For some reason i think the 4th will be bad, because orlando and keira had another story going, so why take them out???????? The people at disney can come up with something, i mean, come on, they are DISNEY.

The way I see it, part three was definitely the best, and everybody who has bad stuff to say about Orlando and Keira, you just freakin’ suck!!!!! Why are you insulting them? They can’t be left out of the movie!!!! They play an essential part in the story for all three of the movies, so it would be idiotic to leave them out and there would be plenty of disappointed devoted fans (Like me), who wouldn’t want that. Also, Johnny is a really good actor. All of them, and Geoffrey Rush need to be in the movie because they mean a lot to it. It sucks if it takes until 2011 for the movie to come out. Fav. I love the pirates movies and the third is my favorite!!! If they made another it is for sure that I would wait outside for days to get in and see it. So if there is another movie I will be absolutly extatic. Not to mention that if they got rid of Orlando Bloom’s character there would be hundrads of thousands of very angry teenagers coming after Disney. I don’t know about all girls but all my friends fantize about a relationship like the one between Will and Elizabeth. Seriously, who doesn’t love a hot kiss in the rain in the middle of a sword fight???

pirates of the caribbean is the best movie series ever. end of story. everything about it is amazing from an actual character down to the blink of an eye. everything that happened in one two and three was perfect in every way possible. when i heard they were coming out with a fourth one i was phsyched beyond belief. i think in the fourth one they will probably focus on how barbossa and sparrow are both trying to be captain of the pearl. but we’ll see soon :))))!

You know I was actually disappointed that everyone is calling off Will and Elizabeth all the sudden….since when did this happen???? I actually like all the characters and I even want to be an actress myself when I’m older….But, I’ve heard it’s supposed to be a a trilogy not like a Quadrilogy (if that’s even a word…) They should call it something different if it should revolve around Barbossa and Jack Sparrow. I personally LOVE the POTC series but no more if they promised it was supposed to be a trilogy. I’ve even heard that Orli is tired of being in it so he will be a total out if this is true. But really, give the actors a chance to show what they really need to do….In the 3 especially I’ve noticed that Orli wasn’t playing his part as well as he was supposed to it’s kinda obvious when you first see him come out of the water when they pull him out you can see in his body language that he doesn’t really want to be in it anymore (trust me you’ll see it you need to look closely I’ve seen this in opening night in theaters) But, I kinda agree with some people Will’s and Elizabeths story kinda ended but it still doesn’t mean that they could show up in the fourth if it ever happens. I would like to see their son if the fountain of youth happens. I like all the movies just because somehow they tie together but I don’t get how people think that it goes totally wack it’s kinda bogus. But, whatever people say I won’t really care cause I have my own opinions that I can worry about not others. And they always leave cliff hangers on everything but when it shown Jack with the fountain of youth map it does leave a big gap. So, I am all for a fourth but at the same time I’m not just because they promised it was supposed to be a trilogy but, you’ll never know Hollywood likes to leave stuff out….
Jack Sparrow & Barbossa is a brilliant idea to focus more on them.

I think that William Turner is too much a pretty boy to my taste. He should get some edge on him. Elizabeth has her own twists, some character on her. William is just plain good innocent boy. I thought the second part was best, since i saw it first. After that it was truly disappointing to find out Elizabeth went finally with William, and not Jack. In the fourth one I hope to see some character developments: Jack falling truly in love, William developing other sides to him.
Too much of the action hazzle was the pointless part in 3rd, but I understand there has to be a lot of it at the border of living and dying. Without the meanings and story behind *pure action* is pointless time waste. One can make oneself into that state by using crack, which I hardly recommend tho ;)

I am for a Pirates 4,5 6,7,8,9, etc. as long as Johnny Depp is Captain Jack Sparrow. I NEVER get tired of seeing that face on the big screen. He plays Captain Jack as no one in this world could have played him. I actually got to liking Barbosa in POTC3. As for Keira, I could care less whether she comes back or not. Orlando is a fine actor and it may be that he could help Jack out getting back his precious Pearl. Who knows? Johnny himself said that he would play Jack as long as someone wanted him to. Who wouldn’t want to play pirates all day????
I think that another movie would be a good idea, and I know that I wasn’t the only one that felt a bit sad upon watching the last few minutes of Pirates 3. As said in above comments, a Disney movie just isn’t a Disney movie without a little romance, so maybe there could be an actual romance with Jack? I am sure that if there is an actual movie, the writers and Disney will be sure to create something that is just as pleasing as the original 3.

potc needs more action as disney has been told already. there is also evidence from the director that bloom and knightely will not participate as main charcters but might grab some very small parts.

I think they left WAY too many things undone at the end of three. I mean, does Will only get to see his wife 1 day every 10 years? Is there a way to break the curse? Both Jack and Barbosa are looking for the fountain of youth…they want immortality, will they get it? I mean they dropped the last film off with everyone on their way to Florida. And for sure, BRING BACK KEITH RICHARDS as Jack’s father! That was awesome and they could do a great story with that in it. I don’t neccesarily think they need to do three more films but at least another one and actually give everyone some closure. The cool thing is that the movie can stand to happen with or without Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom (not that I don’t like them, but it is called PIRATES of the Carribean, not love story of the Caribbean).

Hey I take exception to that comment about tween girls. I happen to be over 50 and enjoyed each and every POTC movie. All the actors were great and yes my fav was Johnny but then I have been a long time fan and not just become one because of the POTC movies.
All that said, what I would like to see but I doubt they’d do it, is a woman character as strong and as much as a scallywag as Jack that he could match wits with. I think that would be interesting instead of these damsel in destress women. Elizabeth’s character came close but not close enough.

When dealing with Will and Elizabeth I do think they should be pushed aside for a bit…Jack and Hector can go on their adventure meeting, recruiting, fighting new characters and supernatural phenominons making it seem like they have gotten away from Elizabeth and Will completely and then BAM—–> there is something that magicly connects them all…and because we have new characters the dynamics of everyone changes!
Hint: Curiously Dominic Scott Kay (POTC AWE) is not credited as William Turner the III, but just ‘young Will Turner’…do I smell time travel or is it just an accidant?????

I disagree with you on all but one aspect. The only thing I agree with you on is that Pirates 4 would be good if it focused alot more on Jack and Barbossa. But I 100% disagree with your views on the 2nd and 3rd movies. The 2nd movie deserves a hell of alot more credit than just “below mediocre” and the 3rd movie was pretty thrilling IMO. But then again we are all entitled to our opinions. I interpret some comments as that the last two POTC movies weren’t “Piraty” enough, but in the 3rd movie it hints that the 4th one will focus on The Fountain of Youth which if you know your history you know that its a little “piraty”, and now that Barbossa is back the enjoyable rivalry between Barbossa and Jack can begin again. I for one am looking forward to it.
I dont think that they should take the whole Will and Elisabeth sequence. I love all the fighting and wars and stuff but there has to be some romance with the familiar characters. Maybe the fountain of Youth could be found of the Island that Elisabeth is staying on b/c Will would never die, but Elisabeth would get older and older. that is how they could get Will and Elisabeth back in the story.

I am all for Jack and Barbossa in the next films. If the online game of the movie is anything to go by, this series has a huge fan base.
As for Will and Elizabeth, their story has only begun. They now have a son and because Calypso is the one who put Davy Jones in charge of the Flying Dutchman, its still unknown if she will release Will from his duty.
Surprisingly, none of the above posters mentioned this. There was a scene deleted from the movie where Calypso tells Davy Jones he could have been released from his duty.
The other deleted dialogue is the ending in the beach scene with Will and Elizabeth. There were a few key items they cut out. Pity

Hi Guys I have only heard this recently through a mate who kind of knows Bruckheimer and basically bruckeimer is saying that there will most likley be a poc 4 but in the mean time he is focusing on other movies and that he is trying to sort out a bad boys 3 which is the last in the bad boys series so don’t expect so much about poc 4 yet coz we would be waiting till 2011 to 2014 for it to come out on the big screen hope this helps a little PEACE!

And their parents wont let them see Sweeney Todd bacaue it’s rated R and i almost didnt want to do that movie because of it! The Idea is that new character Thomas Faye of the EITC, who witnessed the final events of POTC AWE, are set to keep tabs of the characters…
It concludes with him going to Torgatuga explaining to the company about the Fountian of Youth and that Sparrow MUST be caught or killed if the want to control all of the ocean!

Okay first of all Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightly have to return because they just left you hanging after the third movie. Yes I would say Orlando and I are close friends, but all the things I said before about what’s happening in pirates 4, that was just a rough script so those things will not be in the movie. The Movie Pirates of the Caribbean 4, the pirates will be going to the fountain of youth, and you will see the young Jack Sparrow and you possibly will see the adventures he goes on as a young boy, he wasnt always like he is now, jack I mean, he used to be a little different, but not much as it says in the script, that’s just my opinion though, but anyways I will not be able to write on here not too long from now. I will be too busy with the movie, and once we start filming I cannot tell you anything else about the movie, so I hope that is what you were hoping to hear.

I think I will like it if they just focous on Jack and Barbosa, because I mean let’s face it. Everyone loves Johnny Depp. But on the other hand I loved the romance that Keira and Orlando brought to the movie. So I am hoping that if they do end up making a sequel, they find some way to make up for the loss of Keira and Orlando and the romantic theme that they brought to the film.
Its funny cuz today on HBo they’re giving all 3 movies back to back all day long…..the first was definatly my favorite, the second sucked because it was leading up to the third so much it bombed in my opinion, and the third was really good……..but there was TOO MUCH ELIZABETH SWANN…….the movie took out too much of jack, barbossa, and will………a fourth would definatly have to be about the fountain of youth and how Will Turner doesnt age because he is immortal but jack or barbossa gives some of the fountains water to elizabeth so that they may stay alive forever………or even an old jack and an old barbossa chacing the fountain and jack is helped by will and elizabeths son…….so that baby will turner can give his mom immortality so she can see will forever……………idk this is just stuff i think is the most obvious due to how movies have been written in the last decade………..movies have gotten so predictable that i wouldnt doubt for the producers to go down this path which seems like the easier path becuz the other movies have already paved the way.

You’re crazy in saying that the movies “got progressively worse”. If anything, they got better. Disney is laughing all the way to the bank with this franchise as well they should.
My only complaint about any of the movies is in World’s End when Will and Elizabeth got married in the middle of a battle, that was lame. Everything else has been nothing but brilliant.

It could be a good film if it’s agreed all around that Will and Liz’ story is complete and done with. A 4th to open up the REAL story lines of Barbossa and Sparrow Would be interesting, include more of Keith Richards’ pirate and bring in Black Beard and/or some real ruffian plundering. It’d be fun to find out more of Barbossa and Jack’s relationship, How Jack became the infamous Jack Sparrow, and the storyline between him and his father and Bootstrap could be pretty wicked. The first three were good with the 1st and 3rd being the best of. This time without Will and Liz promoting Barbossa and Jack to Main Character positioning would make it way more fun. The fountain of youth could be a good idea if written right but lets hope they stay away from the Atlantis arcs, What the hell would a Pirate need/want from Atlantis anyway??
Oh sheesh! Now that I actually read the middle of this response section, I have to say this one of the funniest and most ridiculous things I’ve read all year. You know, I remember not too long ago, maybe 10-12 years or so, There actually used to be a decent percentage of intelligent people. I am now pretty sure that percentage has dropped to nearly 9%. I was wondering if it would go down that path…also I had this bizzar idea….at the end of AT WORLD’S END it seems like the boy is Will and Elisabeths son (played by Dominic Scott Kay), but the credits title the actor as ‘Young Will Turner’ and not ‘Young William Turner III’ …I just thought that was odd…and if I were going to write a few more installments I could defenatly see something like the young Will has to meet the Captian Dutchman Will on land after the first ten yrs in order to break the curse…like rekindeling his spirit or something…and it’s not like early reports haven’t said this could more ‘Jules Verne’-like! Maybe they just generalized the young actors title, but after watching shows like LOST I have become a rather suspicious person when thinking about plots of films and books! Thanks agian for the info…seeing young Jack would also be very kewl!

I would love to see a fourth Pirates, but I would like to see some love interest in the movie between Bloom and Knightly. I realize that it shows the “ending” but what about after the credits in the third movie when Bloom comes back to find out he has a son? I do enjoy watching Depp. I believe his character adds a great comic relief. I’m all for a fourth!!!!
I would also like to see a POTC4 but place the story around the beginning with Calypso and Davy Jones their journey. Or add more regarding Sparrows father Captain Teagues. OK the 2nd and 3rd werent horrible, hard to follow at times, but not shit as u so put it. They Could make a Killing on the 4th! Say Elizbeth Dies, baby Will becomes a Pirate, Barbossa And Jack Fight over the Fountain of Youth, and they need The Duthchman’s Help!!! What’s the matter with you people who think there shouldn’t be a POTC 4!? They are my favorite movies in the whole world!!!!! I can recite all 3 backwards. Anyways, I’m all for Pirates 4! I want to see more and more of Jack and I agree that they should focus more on him and Barbossa and not so much on Will and Elizabeth, they took up to much of the time. Especially in the 3rd one, what’s the idea of getting married in the middle of a hurricane? I sure do hope that POTC 4 will come out sooner than 2011. Think about it… its 2008 right now, and we’d be waiting 3 years to see it. I’m 18 now, I’ll be 21 then, I’m not waiting to see my favorite movie and actor in the world for 3 years. I literally went insane waiting to see #3 and drove my mom up a wall too.
I saw #3 3x in the theater and will most likely be seeing #4 more than 3. I’m hoping that it will come out sometime next year because now that I heard some stuff about of what’s going to be in it, I”m already going a little insane with excitement. Think how bad I will be if it really doesn’t come out till 2011!
Back to the movie. If Will and Elizabeth do come back, I don’t think they should be given huge rolls that makes the movie focus more on them instead of Jack and Barbossa. We NEED to see more of Jack, at least that’s what I think. Johnny Depp is my favorite actor and I’m not even close to saying we’ve had enough Pirate movies. So….

i love pirates of the carribean and i think another one would be brilliant. all i can say to the people who have said no is that if you don”t like the films then don’t watch them. its not like anyone is forcing you. Jack Sparrow is my favourite character of all time and in all honesty i think it would be just strange if Bloom and Knightly weren’t in it. they wouldn;t have to have major roles in it but to cut them out completely would be wrong. they could do with that what they did with step up 2 and tyler gage.
anyway all i’m sayin is for the people who don’t like the films, don’t watch them and then you wont feel the need to bad mouth them and ruin them for the rest of us that do like them.

Just had to get that out of the way, sorry. Moving on, I think a lot of you are looking at this the wrong way. The first movie was the set up, introducing all of the characters, creating relationships, and basically just getting started. The second movie (my least favorite of the trilogy, though I still loved it) brought about the main villain and was essentially another movie whose main purpose was to make money and set up the third. The third movie was epic. End of story. They did end it strangely though. They closed it out well, and then sent everyone on their way, so they could’ve easily put “The End” on the screen right before the credits, and, at the same time, they introduced the Fountain of Youth, they pitted Barbosa and Sparrow against each other, and Elizabeth and Will got married (and had a kid), and just because they got married does not mean that their storyline is over. It actually opens up an endless one. Oh, and anyone who thinks that the happy couple won’t be in the fourth (God willing there will be a fourth) is delirious. In the third movie, Will became the captain of the Dutchman and Elizabeth was the Pirate King. Yeah, keep believing those two won’t be in the fourth, I’m pretty sure Santa and the Tooth Fairy got your back on that one.
I liked the movies and hope there is a fourth. I want to see what happens between Jack and Barbosa. Perhaps Jack or Barbosa has a wife and a daughter somewhere who is about the same age as baby Turner? Plus something with Elizabeth’s immortality. I think they should encompass some of the events of history ie. inventions of the time- Since Calypso has been freed. You know it is a Disney movie it has to have romance and adventure and a little educational element would be nice too.

I would LOVE for there to be another POTC. They are awesome movies and have a lot going for them… I haven’t decided if the third one was a good ending or not, but I do know that it would be awesome to find out how Jack wound up with his ship. I think it was the second movie where we find out that he made a deal with davy jones to raise up the black pearl, but where did he raise it up from and how did he come upon davy jones in the first place? Going back to the third movie… what happened to Jack, did he find the eternal spring? Did Elizabeth have to wait every 10 flippin’ years just to see Will? If so, that means that she would only get to see him a few times and then she’d die of old age while Will is still young…. I think that Elizabeth needed that eternal spring… I guess that the part after the credits (where it shows their little kid and Will coming back after 10 years) could leave room for another POTC picking up from there. After all, who is to say that Jack didn’t find that eternal spring and have shared it with Elizabeth??? That could be part of a story line, couldn’t it?
Whatever, it’s up to Disney…. I just really want a 4th one…. It would HAVE to have Jack though… no questions about it.
i like the idea of another 4th sequel. I loved the first three. I would be a bit upset if kira and orlando dont show up in it. however, they did pretty much tie up the story between the two in the last movie, and are no longer needed. All they need is jack and barbosa and a few other lesser characters in my mind. If a 4th one does come out, i’d defintley go see it, but im not sure how much id like it. probably not as much as the other movies.
Jack and Barbossa rule! I LOVE POTC!!! But I absolutely HATE the romance! I wanna see action! And I don’t want to see Elizabeth’s kid in the 4th movie, either! However, I love Elizabeth! Will, I dislike him greatly. So, unless there isn’t any romance, then Will needs to go. Although, if the kid has to be in it, then sorry Elizabeth.
I felt all three ‘Pirate” movies were about the same – each was cute, each had lots of double-crossing (which made them fun) and each kept you guessing just a bit. While the sequels did drop a bit in quality (especially the second), I found them overall consistent. After all, tT\he notion of cursed treasure turning men into skeletons in the moonlight is just as preposterous as a squid-like Davy Jones or a bizarre after-world that the living can reach. Also, unlike many, I reallu appreciated the wit and numerous double-crossings of the third movie and felt the series ended on a high note.
As a result, I would enjoy a fourth film (and most likely fifth and sixth). But I do agree that the story between Elizabeth and Will is all but done. It would be nice to see their appearance at least once more (especially to rescue Will from having to be Davy Jones “forever’), but really, there’s not much more of a story left for them. However, Captain Jack has many stories – including prequels. And given that Depp’s character is really what made people love the first movie so much, it’s time to return the story to return the focus to him. What weakened the second and third films a bit was the fact that so many other characters were present that Capt. Jack took a less dominant role. Focus on him and Barbosa and most likely everyone will feel the series has returned to the fun of the first film.

Now, as for the opinions that the Pirate sequals were not good…again I disagree. Each had good plot lines and kept the story going. And I loved how they changed Elizabeth’s character from a girly girl princess (like most Disney movies) to a “Worrior Pirate King” in the end. Sometimes it’s nice to see that a girl can fight just as well as the big boys.
So here’s to hoping that the 4th movie will bring out the best in all our favorite characters!

No, there cannot be more to that story. That IS the story. The captain of the dutchman is captain for life, and the captain of the dutchman is allowed to step on land once every ten years until sunset. That is IT, There is no more to it! We got to see Will meet his Son, what more does anyone want out of that? She is obviously insanely comfortable back on land, if she wasn’t she would’ve been out pirating on a ship when she went to meet Will. But it is shown that she is done with Pirating and is just a Mother with a really interesting past.
Does anyone realize that in order for Will and Elizabeth to be in the next film, The New Film would have to be set 20 years ahead. And then everyone would complain that they would want to know what happened in the last 20 years leading up to that moment. IF there was a way to free any captain from the Dutchman, Davy would’ve known or found out about it The guy was cpt for ages, and no one loved a woman more than his love for Calypso, so if there was a way Davy would’ve reunited himself with said Calypso. So the probability of Will being freed is shot.
Even to bring in the Kid, the new film would STILL have to be at minimum 17-18 years ahead ( how much of an interesting pirate do you think a 10 year old would make? ) He would have to be at least 17-18 in order to have even somewhat of decent sword training and practice and such, otherwise no other pirate would bring a young guy with scarce skills aboard their ship.
I have no idea how you can consider the second and third movies to be so horrible. They were great; At World’s End in particular. I would really like to know what you didn’t like about the third movie, I can think of nothing wrong with it. You are out of your mind.
and sorry one more, 20 years ahead would mean that that Barbossa is around 55-60 years old, Jack would be along the lines of 50-55 years old. and yes those ages are about right considering it had been 10 years in between the time that Barbossa Mutinied Jack and as was said Jack Captained the Black pearl for 3 years until that point. and I am willing to bet that the average Captain of a ship isn’t in his teens. Plus, The average lifespan of average healthy people in that time or era was around 45-50 years. And I am sure that we could all agree that Pirates do not lead the most Healthy lifestyles. The most probable way that Jack And Barbossa could be still sailing with ambition and validity would be if they were to come across a “Fountain Of Youth” somewhere or something, so………

i wasnt suprised at all. i could tell the series want over from the end of the third movie. it left off with barbosa as captain, also an odd pirate in the back that looked strikingly like “bootstrap bill” john’s father, jack alone on a small boat, and bloom and knightly in a state of closure. the only real confliction and motif left in the movie is the relationship bettween jack and barbossa. the ending, which i personally think was genious, has two ways to be interpreted, 1. it ends in a similar state to which the first movie began giving closure and the sense the story is over. 2. jack has that map, and barbossa knows that jack has the map, which would imply a possible series of other movies. basically, the they have a choice, continue to reap profits off of the merchandise and box office popularity of the movies, or speak to their “artist within” and tastefully discontinue the making of these movies to avoid the risk of these movies turning out like the police academy series. their probably going to push for a few more movies considering johnny depp’s insatiable taste for lame movies, at least from 2001 and on. i think theres about an 80% chance another pirates of the carribean movie is made.

I’m even willing to bet that we are introduced to a new Pirate girlie from the past that has a way to drive both Jack and Barbossa crazy. The fourth Pirates movie is about the Fountain of Youth. If you don’t understand, watch Pirates 3 again, beginning to end. That includes after the credits.
For those of you who just don’t want to go through the trouble, I’ll lay it out for you. SPOILERS IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE 3RD MOVIE!
After the final battle sequence in POTCAWE (Pirates of the Caribbean at World’s End), several of the crew of the Black Pearl approach Captain Barbossa and ask to see the charts. The captain obliges, and rolls out the map, only to find that the most crucial part (the center, the piece that turns and leads to other places) has been taken by none other than Captain Jack Sparrow. The camera flips to show Jack sailing away on a small boat with a bottle of rum, his compass, and the charts. He turns the centerpiece of the map, revealing the picture of what looks like the Holy Grail, and a small ship beside it. Jack then opens the bottle of rum, and takes out his compass. The movie then ends, leaving us w/ a sort of cliffhanger to ponder over.
I personally really like all 3 movies. I think Elizabeth shouldn’t have a very big role in the movie because her and Will are separated, so what would she be doing? They should show her in some parts, but as much as they did in the past. As for Will, they should have him making a deal with Barbossa; if Will stops Jack from getting to the Fountain first, Barbossa will save him from the Dutchman, but Barbossa doesn’t keep his side of the bet, and somehow some random person ends up living forever, not Jack or Barbossa. Another thing, why wait until 2011??? Now I’m very anxious to see what happens. I’ll be in high school in 2011, and I won’t be as interested as I am now (yes, i am only in 6th grade)! I would like to see more of what goes on when pirates aren’t sailing: when they are in port. But besides all that, I can’t wait to see the fourth installment of “Pirates of the Caribbean.”
Hey People! I loved all three Pirates movies! and here’s what I think… I think about 12/16 should be based on action with jack and barbossa and 5/16 should be based on will and elizabeth… People can see action like they really want to and the people who like the romance can get that in and every one is happy! and then we can all see a fresh movie with new ideas and we can all have that feeling of supense… see they wont come out with the movie until 2011 because people will want to see it so bad the pirates movies will not lose their audience and fans! I think that is clever… then when it comes out more people will want to come see it and if they just came out with it next year they would lose their audience right away and the world would get sick of pirates! so Disney is very clever!

I agree with Tina all movies should stop after the third one, except the good ones like StarWars. Lord of The Ringsdid the right thing by stopping at the Third one. I say Yes leave Knughtly out of it because shes getting annoying, but everyone eelse needs to be in it. The first two were good, but the third was a little long and you kinda lost the view somntime. I have kliked the privous ones though.

I however do not agree with takeing Keira and Orlando out ofthe film, But I do not think that its a decision that can not be rectified due to the fact that Orlando and Jerry B had a falling out and I have a feeling they will no longer be working together at all again. Hence the reason Orlando did not get the Role as the Prince of persia? Now having said that if they take Will out of the picture this leaves a huge gap for all the ” SparraBethers” out there LOL I do not think the movies will be the same without Orlando the chemistry he brings to the film is amazing and gives audiences a charge when you see him on the screen. The only way to really have another film is to do it the way star wars did it and do Pre Quals but if we do that who will play our young jack, We have to have Jack, It wont be pirates without him !!!! SO i truly do not know how a new film will work out

i would love to see a 4th movie. ive been i huge fan since day 1! Keira and Orlando were some of my least favorite characters. i think dropping them would be a great idea. but it might do some damage to the profits (there are people out there who like them!). what disney SHOULD do is: through them in everyone once and a while in the movie. and not make a big deal out of the two. they just make the movie confusing! focusing on Jack and Barbossa would make the 4th movie much more thrilling, keep you on the edge of your seat type thing. Keira and Orlando just weigh them down.

Pirates 4 has to be made REGARDLESS of what bruckheimer claims. There is just no way that they’d leave the 3rd film with the ending they chose. They left the door wide open. LOGICALLY everyone is gearing for the fountain of youth storyline. Following another storyline may be risky considering that we’ve been setup to expect something ( fountain ).
In the natural progression of the story Will and Elizabeth’s stories have honorably come to their end. Any revisitation of their characters could spell the first real sign of doom for the fanchise. CAMEO appearances might not be too bad however, but again CAMEO meaning brief and NOT in the forefront.
Next we tackle how a 4th installment works when more then half of the main characters are no longer in the picture ( Will, Elizabeth, Tia Dalma, Davey Jones, Bootstrap Bill, Norington, and Beckett )
It works! It works great in fact. Even keeping the name Pirates of the Carribean works.
Ending some characters stories to introduce new ones and or focus on the existing characters is wonderful. Jack Sparrow, excuse me CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow, can finally really be explored, Barbossa stays exactly what he is, the thorn in jack’s side, Jack’s father Captain Teague can make a larger presence, or not depending on the potential butchering of the character, and so much more. The possibilities are endless here.
The key to this is keeping true to the look and feel of the previous Pirates movies with a fresh story and direction that isnt too far from the viewers expectations. I mean come on guys they pretty much have laid the foundation to do just about anything with this franchise.
I think that all Disney and Bruckheimer need to do is decide one simple thing…….. Continue the Pirates tradition, following in step to the prevous 3 films, OR doing a complete Capt. Jack Sparrow spinoff.

ok umm. yeah the 1st movie was really really good, but the second was was just as good, if not better. if it wasnt good at all they wouldnt have made a third one.

This thread is great! The Pirates movies are all good and sadly very misunderstood. Pirates is the deserving successor to the Indiana Jones franchise. The movies are fun and imaginative and have something for everyone (as evidenced by the diverse cast of defenders on this thread). It’s nice to know there’s a small army of teenage girls (and also Jenny) ready to defend it. Kudos!

I think that making a Pirates 4 is a great idea, since the story ended where elizabeth and Will meet after ten years with their son, they will do watever happened between that time.

The pirates of the caribbean movies are actually good… i absolutely love them!! You obviously have no taste whoever wrote this article… and i can’t wait for the next movie to come out… the only problem is a) its taking too long… I don’t wanna wait until 2011!!! b) they ended it pretty well with no cliff hangers (with the 5 second thing at the end) … thats only because they didn’t think they were going to make another movie… I hope we learn more about elizabeth and will’s son… that would be another good theme… like him wanting to be a pirate and what not… whatever… i just can’t wait any longer for the movie to come out!!!
First i would like to say that haveing a focused movie on barbossa and sparrow is indeed an extreamly good idea, not to say that the other movies were not extreamly well done. BUT i disagree completely on your view on the movies gettin worse as they went along. #1 was in my opinoin awesome, #2 extreamly well done deffanitly one of the best movies i’ve seen, and #3 which was jaw droping. but the down side of the focus on only jack and barbossa is it will be extreamly wierd not haveing Gibbs or nightly or any of te krew for that matter in the movie. in my opinion this is the best series ever made. as for the 4th one cant wait(2011 is way to long) but its worth it.

personally i think the main reason so many people are attracted to the movie is because of Elizabeth and Will’s story. I love the whole lets kill each other like pirates thing but what i truly love about these movies are the chemistry between Knightly and Bloom. I think in the fourth movie they should make it to where somehow Will doesnt have to spend forever on teh Dutchman, because i cried when he left Elizabeth. I do think they should have a son though.

I agree with the second response, I thought that the third movie was by far the best. I thought the plots were original and I’m a big fan of Knightly and Bloom , I would actually like to see them in the next movie. Personally I’m a huge POTC fan and I considered all three of the movies to be well made. But I can honestly say that these movies have better plots than half of the movies that are being shown in today’s theaters. I do, however, believe that the third movie tended to have some awkward or irrelevent comments, once in a while. But besides that it had a cunning plot, where each and every character mattered.
Each of them utilized and manipulated the characters and situations to help them reach their goals. Which is what a pirate does afterall. To drop any of the main characters out would probably end in chaos for the movie. You don’t exactly know what small detail they carry that might be crucial in the next film. Examples? The eyeball, the dog with the keys, and the little beaded charm Jack carried. They were all overlooked as being simplistic props, but they were much more than what they seemed. Now imagine taking something that largely influenced the movie’s meaning, and removing it…
I think that a fourth movie would be really hard to pull off considering Bloom and Kightly’s characters have come to an end. If the producers and writers can come up with a clever way to incorporate the two back into the main plot, I think credit will have to be given to them, because it surely must be a tedious task to meet everyone’s demands and still make a cunningly, brillant movie. And hey, if the movie is as witty and charming as the first, then let it ride. But if they decide to cut major characters and lack the effort to make a good movie, then just forget about it.

first of all i am a HUGE potc fan!! i love it! basically i disagree with what a lot of people have said…the only character that really should be ended is keira knightleys…orlando bloom is now the captain of the dutchman, and the dutchman has been an important part in the movies….to me, it just doesnt seem as though the whole story has been told…they purposely made the last 2 movies to lead up to the 4th movie, IMO…..there was never really a closing, the end of the third was pretty much a beginning of the 4th…whereas will turner became the new captain, and jack lost his ship…they’re not going to end one of the most successful series of movies that way…think about it.im not sure what will happen in the next movie, but i guarantee there will a next one….but in case you guys didnt notice, at the end of the movie, after the credits roll, it shows a glimpse at 10 years later, with keira knightley, and her and will tuners son…..in case you all didnt notice, he last went to shore at the end…there will be a little bit of keira knightley in the next movie, but not a lot…and the next one will focus on jack, will turner, barbosa, and callypso could possibly be featured in the next one…but regardless, i have thoroughly enjoyed all 3 movies, and think they’re all very very good movies. i expect nothing less in the 4th one…

A fourth POTC would be nice and I like your ideas, especially the one with the movie focusing more on Jack and Barbosa, but I personally think they should keep Bloom’s character in the series. The third movie ended with Will captaining the Flying Dutchman and returning every ten years to land for one day. He could be added into the Fountain of Youth to search for a way to keep Elizabeth and his son alive longer/forever or something to that extent. Althougb I personally hated the love story in all three of the movies, a lot of people I know saw the movies JUST to see what happened with Will and Elizabeth. Romance sells. Did we learn nothing from Titanic?
I thought the third movie rocked and I’m all for a fourth one. I think it would be cool if they had Will and Elizabeth’s son some how join up with Jack and they go on an adventure together. I heard Orlando and Keira don’t want to do another film. I would miss them, but I would still love to go see a fourth. Jack and Barbossa fighting over the black pearl and looking for the fountain of youth will be very interesting. Elizabeth and Will could help I guess, but I think their story is pretty much over. Though I also read that since Elizabeth was faithful to Will that he was released from the Flying Dutchman.
Some say the 2nd and 3rd were hard to follow if thats the case you all watch simplistic movies where there involves more killing than making sense. There’s nothing wrong with a love story, with all the hate in the world a little bit a love is necessary even if its just on that box we sit in front of mesmerized by the colors lol. i believe there should be a 4th and will and elizabeth should stay but not as the main focus, there story isn’t over but its fading. Of course the 4th should have a tighter plot, jack and barbosa were the focus at the end of the 3rd and lets remember ppl this is disney, if you want an adult violent action movie look for something with a Big Capital R on it if not just like or dislike the movies for what they are or hey u could always become a successful producer and make your own.

Think about it. If they release another Pirates….Its gonna be messed up. For one Elizabeth and Will had a child already. Imagine how they would plot this this one. Elizabeth and Will will be almost 30 years old in the next movie. The kid will be about 10 or 11. Will can only step foot on land once every ten years. If he comes back in another movie, Will will only be in the movie for a little bit unless the movie takes place in a one day timerange. So if they make a movie surrounding Jack Sparrow and Barbossa ONLY it won’t be a smash hit because to me personally, Orlando Bloom AND Johnny Depp are the two people who actually keep Pirates Of The Caribbean a BIG HIT. If it’s just Johnny they mind as well call it Pirate Of The Carribean. And I am am a Die Heart Pirate Fan. I really think she should stop at this one!

First I want to thank johnny for clearing things of the will and elizabeth drama.
And I want to give an opioin on how the movie should be. I think the movie should invole a daughter of Will and Elizabeth that 10 years pass and Will mets his daughter that he wasn’t able to see or known about because of the curse of not able to touch land only once every 10 years. And that when she sees her father leave, she leaves and goes after him. And before she goes to him, she looks for jack so he could help her find a way for his father to be with her and her mother. So they go adventuring in search of him and finds babossa and he also helps her. When she finally finds her father he tells her about his curse and then she looks for away to break the curse and it leads to the same location of the fountain of youth meaning that the only reason jack was helping her because he knew were everything was going to end up at. After she knows to save her father from the curse that she has to die to make it work, she accepts that sacerfice in order for her parents to live happily ever after. But her parents try to stop her but they were too late. but then Will learns he can give a life back when the moon is full and the curse doesn’t get affected of her sacerfice, he relives her.
I think the movie shuold atleast be similar to that, so that will and elizabeth end up together. What do you think?

Well, it’s been a few days since I last responded, and since then I’ve read and reread some of the posts.
And I personally think that the fourth movie can be taken in a lot of directions. It can either span the 10 year time gap or continue from the last scene with Bloom and Knightly’s child. And some of you had concerns regarding Bloom’s character and how he is only able to come ashore once every ten years, but, it’s a pirate movie. It’s mostly likely going to take place on a boat in the middle of the ocean. And for some of the characters that have died? We could see them come back, because they did die in the ocean afterall. So, I think we just have to keep our minds open to all the possibilities because if we keep trying to pin down what’s going to happen, we’re probably going to become either disappointed or upset. The director will probably do an amazing job anyway, something far from expected.
Are some of you living in a fantasy world? Pirates of the Caribbean 1,2 and 3 are delariously AWESOME!!!!! I can not get ENOUGH!

The 4th.. If there is going to be another will probably be about the Fountain of youth. Johnny will HAVE to be in it. Keira and Orlndo will probably be in it too.. But even if they aren’t they have prety much finished their chapter of the story.. With the end of AWE, them having a child and all that.
In my opinion, if Gore Verbinski is into another one, Disney, Johnny etc. are into it… And there i still more of Captain Jack Sparrow to be seen and more adventures to be had then Why Not?! The whole crew is awesome and so are all three of the movies that have been made so far. A fourth one would be sweet. by my figuring a 4th pirate movie would be bad at all im kinda on the side that they really should wrap up the will/ liz thing (i hate when things are left with no clear ending) but they should do it with the focus being on jack, barbosa, the pearl and the fountain, i really did think that the 3rd was nearly as good as the first but i also want all the love stufff kept to a minimum there has been too much in the 2nd and 3rd

I agree. Will and Elizabeth are dead weights and need to be released from the Pirates of the Caribbean series. Will is just a copy cat (of sorts) of Jack Sparrow. Elizabeth just kinda flops around and ruins the plot. A movie focused on Jack Sparrow and Barbossa is ecactly what I had in mind.
I agree with you that each wone has gotten worse but a you said each one has made a crapload of money showing that they are still good or even great movies{atleast dead man’s chest}. The idea of focusing on Jack{who makes these movies great} and Barbosa is in my idea fantastic but having a little sidebar or less important part of the mivie like another person on here said I think would make it better giving people a little bit more t look forward to and maybe add a little twist here and there. My idea is that this is going to be based obviously on the fountain of youth. Jack is going to round up some more pirates and go after the fountain with Barbosa hot on his tail the whole movie hoping to take the map from Jack and make this a competition between them. At some point they are going to relaize that they are not the only ones after the fountain{just like the other ones when they are not the only ones after the chest,etc.}. They will have to combine forces or something like that and take it on{hopfully somthing more dangerous then fish with swords}. At the end Jack will have to choose between iternal life for himself or saving someone else most likely Barbosa showing the nice side once again of Jack Sparrow. I have not completely thought this through so don’t take my idea here as my last comment.
I think I would have mixed feelings over a 4th POTC. As a huge fan of the movies I love to see another one, but I kind of feel that it isn’t necessary. I loved At World’s End, and I feel like it was the best one yet. I thought it was the perfect way to end a great set of movie. Having said that I feel that there is so much room for a 4th movie involving the Fountain of Youth. I do agree that Will and Elizabeth should be left out of any remaining POTC movies. They aren’t really needed anymore. I feel that Will could possible be used because his new life. I tend to shy away from a fourth movie because the 3rd movie had so many links to the 1st. Also, let’s face it, I’m a huge Davy Jones fan, and any movie without him would be a complete waste. Not only that but they killed off a lot of good characters and enemies. If the new movie focused just on Jack, Barbosa, and the quest to find the Fountain of Youth… plus if they could come up with a character as bad ass as Davy Jones, and promised to make this the last one. I would totally support a fourth movie, but if they ruin the series with a shit movie, i would be extermely upset, and that’s what worries me, I don’t think they can pull it off. I was nervous when the 3rd movie came out, but then again it turned out to be amazing and for sure my favorite.

Hey everyone here is what I think personally…
I think Jack should be shown right away in the fourth one and show him looking at the map to The fountain of youth like he did at the end of the third movie so anyways they show him looking at the map so he goes to port royal to steal a ship and gets captured by beckett who mysteriousely survived his boat being cannon balled so jack gets catured by beckett and beckett wont realease him unless he takes him to will and beckett offers him and big ship and so jack doesnt know where he is and so jack offers him the map for the big ship and beckett accepts then later on jack sneeks into becketts quarters and steals the map and heads in elizabeth’s direction he finds elizabeth they talk and jack offers to take elizabeth to will and so he shows her the map and she wakes up will jr. and they set off on jack’s ship and so they look and look and look and finally they find him and will and her have they’re little reunion but that is all the love I want in that movie nothing else so anyways then jack shows him the map and they head for the fountain of youth and they all drink from it and they all go back in time and they are all young again and will jr. dissapears because he hasnt even been born yet so you see jack and will and and elizabeth as young teenagers again and then they are gone for what seems to be a year to them but 100 years in real life and they come back and everyone is gone (DEAD) and so they are in the boat and they see glowing in the water and so jack jumped in the water with a ripe attached to him and he sees it’s a city so he tells the others and they all dive down there It’s the city of Atlantis and they live there and then the movie ends after 10 years at atlantis and they show little details too to make the movie longer so if anyone likes my idea or doesnt please tell me and tell the truth if you dont like it that’s ok!

I thought POTC 2 and 3 were the best.The first one just sucked.And they need will and elizabeth in the fourth for sure.
Some of the thoughts are pretty close, but for me and alot of other people, the pirates of the caribbean has the best scenes and character of any movie out there……That must be why they hold the box office record…. i cant wait until the next one, all they can do IS GET BETTER!!! every movie that i see previews for and like will naturely get a bad review. So i watch them anyways and they are all good. and then i am led to believe that those of the people out there being critics are all idiots… just like the Pirate Movies… Now i have an idea i go by, when they say its good, IT SUCKS, when they say it sucks, the movie is the bomb and in the top place in movie attendence that week. those are what i watch, the SUCKY ones… which are the BEST ONES!!!(movies) for all you out there

All of the pirates movies were good and they all followed the story. It was one long story that they made into 3 movies so all the people that are bitching about how they should had more Jack sparrow in it don’t really get the movie and shouldn’t talk.

I think that all the POTC Movies are wonderful and that there should definitely be a Pirates of the Caribbean 4!! The 3rd Movie just left a lot of questions unanswered, and I would love to see Elizabeth and Willliam have a son or something in the movie. I think their the best part in the movies and they are what makes the movie so interesting and wanting more! I think your all nuts if you think it would be a better movie without them- the movie would be horrible and would be missing an extra something if they weren’t in it. Everywhere I’ve looked everyone is saying that Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom will not be making an appearance of the possible Pirates of the Caribbean 4, and that to me sounds horrifying. A movie with out two of the three main characters just seems all wrong…..the first three with Kiera and Orlando have been wonderful and to cut them from the 6rh movie would be a disaster. I would probably go and see the 4th because I am such a big fan, but on second thoughts if Kiera and Orlando don’t show up I might be to sad to watch it….there is reasons why Elizabeth and Will Turner should be involved in the movie anyways……I really think it will be a true disappointment to fans if they don’t become apart of the 4th movie…..and besides the 4th prolly wouldnt get near the ratings as the 1st three, they were so popular becuz of all three actors Johnny, Kiera and Orlando. (The dvd of the 4th movie would looks funny anyways if only Jack Sparrow and Barbossa was on it)

Well i for one hope that a fourth Pirates will be made but i too think its best to focus on C- jack and C-Barbossa because when the two Characters are together its Funny and it makes you want a better understanding of there relationship before “curse of the black pearl” because the first movie was Good and there wasn’t a lot of info given about there background but as i watched a part of me didn’t care because i was so intrested in what happened next but NOW i want to no more!!. I actually have a lot of ideas from the Title to the plot of the story because the way they left “At Worlds end” you can do so much with it….but lets face it Im a teen living in Maryland I will never get a chance to put my ideas out there :(…. 2 make a long story short a 4th needs to be made to redeem the Pirates!!! PS FRESH FACES !!!!!
Do none of you people know anything about film, and did you comprehend nothing you watched? Ignoring the fact that Elizabeth and Will’s story arc brought the third movie to a crawl over and over, it’s over and done. He isn’t “cursed” and it cannot be lifted, the Dutchman needs a Captain. Why does everyone ask for a happy ending they already received? Will does a noble thing for the world by ferrying lost souls into the afterlife, his reward is to see his wife (and subsequent children) once every ten years, well that and not growing tentacles. Oh you would rather they be together forever walking on dry land just like every single other movie in existence ends.. no thank you, I’d rather have the hero have to do something truly heroic and lasting with only a slight reward.. much more noble that way and brilliantly done.
A 4th movie (that might actually *gasp* be set in the Caribbean) opens up so many more characters and possibilities; Anne Bonnie, Sir Henry Morgan, Edward Teach (aka Blackbeard) to name a very few. You all want to pay $9 a ticket to see the same rehashed cast try to muck their way through another script cobbled together to include the same characters? Personally, I’d like to hope the catalyst character (Jack) does what he does best and leads us down another harrowing avenue involving some of the more colorful historical characters Disney hasn’t even touched in the series yet. With Barbossa’s chaotically noble personality to play the yin to Jack’s yang they could easily do another trilogy with a completely different type of story arc (read: not a love story) and succeed wonderfully if they went down that road.
but they probably won’t and it will end up as crap to appease people who can’t grasp all that without someone hitting them in the face with it.. ah well, least we’ll still have the next cookie cutter comedy to look forward to.

Definately NO more pirated movies, they are getting progressively worse, and I am a huge fan but I have to be honest.
Johnny IS the main character and I agree that using him as the centre character would be a brilliant idea. However, it is characters like Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann/Turner who also rake in the viewers, OK, it is mainly Depp’s performance but using Keira and Orlando is a bse to attract younger fans to the movie.
The first one was good, everyone knows the others weren’t as good-they definately shouldn’t make anothr one; it would probably lessen people’s views of the pirate trilogy-more so.

First of all, I would like to say it’d be great for them to make a Pirates of the Caribbean 4. And for 3 reasons. I have 3 names for you. Jack Sparrow, Barbossa, and Tia Dalma(Calypso) who everyone seems to be forgetting. And the reason behind these three reasons is because none of their storylines have come to an end. Yes Elizabeth and Will’s end has come but what of the other three? Jack left off on his own to find the fountain of youth while Barbossa was trying to do the same but Jack stole that piece of the map. And as for Tia Dalma, after she exploded into a bunch of crabs and created the maelstrom you don’t know what happened to her. I mean obviouslly she’s not dead. And I must say Tia Dalma is one of the best characters in the Caribbean movies. She’s witty like Jack, mysterious, magical. And she’s played by an amazing actress. So I think the storyline for 4 will be Jack and Barbossa both trying to find the fountain of youth while coming across Calypso causing them trouble. Don’t forget about Tia Dalma people!
Oh and for those of you who are not so bright and think the person posting as JOHNNY DEPP is the real Johnny Depp you’re wrong. First of all, the person posting as JOHNNY DEPP is rude and the real Johnny Depp wouldn’t get so worked over at people on the internet, 2. Disney has NOT confirmed a 4th movie as of yet and when the actors are notified they are NOT allowed to say anything about it until Disney OFFICIALLY releases the information and 3. If the movie IS going to be made and supposed to be released in 2011 the script would not be even close to being finished yet as they don’t begin to actually write the script until about 3 years before the movie is released when it wasn’t an expected movie to be made so therefore they would only have partial scripts done and 4. the actors would not have scripts until the movie is OFFICIALLY released to the press and the script completely finished and 5. Actor’s do not have the time to sit down and blog on websites such as this. I hope you all know that and this is not an attack against anyone this is just telling you how it works and making sure everyone knows the person posting as JOHNNY DEPP who is trying to make people believe he is Johnny Depp that he is not. And he is probably some 14 year old kid bored and wants to be Johnny Depp because he’s not happy with his own life.

I think they should AT LEAST have Bloom and Knightley in one little microscopic scene of the 4th one, just so that the Will-&-Elizabitch-4-ever freaks will be have a happy ending, or maybe put sqeeze them in the epilouge-thingy at the end of the credits like all the other films had done, and then focus ALL the attention on Jack and Barbossa fighting for the Pearl/Aqua de Vida. I’m writing a little chapter story in case the 4th movie sucks down the drain- (but it most likely won’t.) I think this would be a good storyline: my story opens up as Barbossa hunting down Jack. Jack, Gibbs, and I’ve added another chracter named Grace Swift into the story, and she’s a wench in Tortuga. Jack meets her, but the three of them them are captured by the Black Pearl’s crew, (including Pintel & Ragetti,) but Grace calls for Parley, and Barbossa wants the charts from Jack- but he realizes there’s no profit in it for him. So Barbossa gives him the Pearl without a fight. Everyone thinks he’s gone absolutely crazy, and grow suspicious of him. (There is a REASON why Barbossa wants the charts so bad. Hint: it involves Will Turner.) And if anyone has been yearning into insanity for Jack to find a girl . . . IT’S IN MY STORY!!! But there’s a drawback about her. (Hint: It goes all the way back to the first movie, and it involves Barbossa.)
Oh and nobody has told me if they liked my idea on the fourth movie or not, so if you scroll up a little ways and fing a pannel with Lilly Ross as the person who wrote it and it starts out as
“Here is what I think personally…” then you should read it and tell me how you like it, and be honest if you like it or not cause then I can improve it if I have to!
A 4th one would be great, but just having Jack and Barbossa is a big no no. I’m sorry, but if that happend, I WOULD NOT go see it. I’m a big Orlando fan. They should keep Will and Elizabeth (even if I do want to rip her guts out for taking MY man.) Orlando’s mine! Mine, mine, mine! Rachel, I totally agree! This is a PIRATE movie! What’s the first thing you think of when you hear the word “pirate?” I’ll answer that: SWASHBUCKLING, LIMB-MISSING, RUM-CHUGGING, OBSESSED-WITH-SHINY-THINGS, POOR-DENTAL-HYGIENE GUYS! NOT a lovey-dovey story about a retired blacksmith, now a creepy, heartless, barnacle-slime captain, and a bitchy, complaining, know-it-all!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they need to focus back towards the first movie, (since that was apparently the ending to the third movie) and tell more about Jack and Barbossa, since that’s what the first one focused around. Since Barbossa was Jack’s First Mate, (erm . . . that’s a nautical term . . . ) I want to see if they actually have had some good times before Barbossa mutnied against Jack and marooned him. Will and Elizabeth are a bit irrelevant now that their story has pretty much been told.

I absolutely love the Pirates of the Caribbean movies…. I’m so happy they’re making a 4th! I wish that Nightly and Bloom were still in them though. But it will still be a great movie! By the way, I think the 3rd was the best one so far! (Unlike what some people say) They get better and better, so I am so excited to see what is going to happen next!

just putting my 2 cents in! if any one is going to look for Its great to keep on going with the POTC its different, I like all three. I keep on watching them at times. My favorite is part three. A funny part that comes to mind is when Barbossa laughs when their going down the falls. I like that Barbossa and Sparrow are trying to kill each other but thing come up. Then i like it when they work together like maybe they should save each other to kill each other to see who is the best caption. Their just have to be some things the story needs with famous killers like caption james hook with his real hand not the hook and sparrow would say a smart remark why they call him captain hook? ( Sparrow speaks about how the names don’t match the person too gibes and sparrow speaks about a guy name Larry in part three) sparrow and hook should meet. Sparrow is the reason for hook to leave to never land because Hook does have a soft side that sparrow got to that would be great and sparrow being the reason why colombus thought he was some where else. but in part 4 sparrow meets with a guy that becomse mayor of puerto Rico or something like that name puoito ???? anyways

i reckon that the trilogy as a whole was good the third was my favourite ( it took the makers ages to make the maelstrom scene. if u cut bloom and knightly viewers will want to know what happened to will and elizabeth and the “Dutchman”. i too think that the jack and barbossa squabble will be good to see. i’d want to see how jack gets the Pearl back (bet it will be funny). i think that the sharing the curse is a good idea for the 4th film.

All in all i reckon: Keep will and liz( get reunited, share curse etc) , jack gets pearl back, barbossa and jack fight over the pearl and plot starts off from where they left preferably a year later from there. and it would be pretty dumb to cut knightly and bloom

Admittedly, it’s hard to see a PotC movie without Will and Elizibeth, but by NO MEANS does that mean they can’t make a new one without them. Their story has ended, and it’s ended well. They’re my least favourite characters, but I think they had a good story and I’m glad it ended the way it did. One thing people are saying is that making a fourth would be a mistake because it’ll ruin the francise. I disagree. If they focus on Barbossa and Jack (which would be absolutely BRILLIANT), it would be fairly seperate from the original trilogy. It would probably have a very different direction and the story would be something completely new. And if they have the same writers, I have every trust that it will turn out well. Mostly, what I think everyone should do, is just wait and see. We can’t say that it will be terrible or wonderful until we actually see the movie. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

I loved all the movies, but I do think the stretched the love saga way too far, it got very boring. I am all for a kickass pirate movie, but would LOVE to see a new character come in, eg. Female pirate as equally ruthless and double crossing as Jack and Barbossa combined… but keep the lovey dovey out of it!

two reasons for this
A) they were main characters and they acted greatly and it would plain Silly to cut a great character out of the story
B) they were in the 1 2 and 3 it would be too late to cut them now and as “RED” said their part of the story was open ended

He was the BEST part of the movie for many of the YOUNGER female population, and without him they will likely loose half of there general audience. As for Keira Knightley, the romance between her and Bloom was what most people were intersted in, and finding out what would happen. We know that Johnny Depp attracts more of a middle aged woman, but loosing two of the many main characters is a HUGE mistake!!!

I have to say that i sort o agree with john but i also must argue…I thought that At Worlds End was the best and the others were equally good. However Will and Elizabeth im confussed about. They did play a big role and helped with the plot line but as others have stated it’s a pirate movie not a romance. People always say oh it’s a disney movie no one will die but in the pirate movies thy prove those people wrong. Jacks my favorite and Barbossa follows as secnd favorite sp im glad they stay in but i see no further use with will and elizabeth in the movies there story is over maybe will caould make a quick appearance but not an important role. and it really pissed me off how elizabeth and will acted like they were in charge fo the ships in pirates one and two they were side characters they had no authority there. Ok RED i totally agree ith u on pretty much every thing u said so far. I myself would love to see Barbossa and jack argueing again but unlike MUSHROOM MAN I dont think Barbossa should die. He is a cool character but it would be cool for them to introduce some stuff from the Jack Sparrow book series. look MUSHROOM MAN there story is over deal with it. For one the third will have to go back ten years because after the credits was Elizabeth and her son plus that probably means that Jacks adventure was over. So you go backten years but then Elizabeth is pregnant and will cant see her because shes not allowed on the Dutchman and Barbossa isn’t going to let some prego onto the pearl. Maybe Will can reapear but not Elizabeth Its all about Jack now … and Barbossa…

i didn’t see that ten-yr later bit, soon as the credits came on in the cinema everyone piled out. unless the majority of ppl i know watch every second of the films they watch( which is unlikely) they probably have/had no idea about that two minute scene about liz + her kid. i myself don’t wait for the credits end to see if there is anything extra because the likelyhood of something to do with the story after the credits is unlikely. so basicly the producers will probably continue on from sparow in his dinghy.

I just hope it feels like a Pirates of the Caribbean movie. The third was a good movie, to me, but it felt a little disconnected from the Pirates franchise. You could just take off the Pirates of the Caribbean and just call it At World’s End. Pirates 4 in 2011, huh? Jack and Barbossa are major enimies and going head to head to find the fountain of youth. I don’t mind Orlando Bloom. I personally think he’s a good actor and the only film I had a problem with him was Troy. We’ll just see.

I completely disagree-I think that Jerry Bruckheimer and the entire cast have done an exceptional job of making the trilogy. Also, whereas I do agree that if there is a POTC4 they should re-focus on Capn’ Jack Sparrow (he is the star) I love the other characters and think that it would be a deal breaker for me if any of the other characters were not to appear in the story. In short, I think a POTC4 is an amazing idea and can’t wait!

No, i doubt its true. I was just watchin the third movie tonight and i luv how in the final battle when they first start firing the cannons all of the main characters aboard the pearl have to say fire before the cannons fire. Also,at the end of the movie when will leaves elizabeth where is she?? is she on shipwreck cove or somethin and how does she leave?? im just thinkin out loud and that will by the way decrease here chances on being in the fourth. oh and how is jack supposed to catch barbbosa in that small little boat? oh and jack did mention pizarro and his pirates so thats another possibility but i doubt it. i think there isn’t meant to be children in pirate genre films because the more there is involving family/kids the more the film vears off the pirate genre. a LITTLE bit is ok but it a sequel evolves around family then it wont be a proper pirate film.
