Leslie Mann Joins I Love You Phillip Morris

Leslie-Mann-Phillip-Morris.jpgI’ve always liked Leslie Mann ever since I saw her play Ursula in George of the Jungle. She’s beautiful, has great comedic timing and seems very comfortable playing supporting characters and never seems to try to steal a scene or make more of her characters than the story calls for. I loved her part in 40 Year Old Virgin, thought she was terrific in Knocked Up, and now it looks like she’s landed a role opposite Jim Carrey in the new film I Love You Phillip Morris.

The good folks over at Yahoo News describe I Love You Phillip Morris like this:

Carrey plays a married father who is sent to prison and falls in love with a cellmate named Phillip Morris (Ewan McGregor). His love leads him to make several escape attempts. The film will be directed by “Bad Santa” scribes Glenn Ficarra and John Requa. Production begins later this month.

Hell sign me up, I think this sounds hilarious! Putting Ewan McGregor in there as well was a stroke of genius in my opinion too. As far as Carrey’s involvement goes… there’s nowhere to go but up after that train wreck they called “The Number 23″.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that Mann ends up playing Carrey’s wife. Whatever her role, I’m glad to see her in this.

Same as John: loved her in 40 Year Old and Knocked Up. Actually, might see if I can find those on my bookshelf.
